Super Famicom/SNES / Squirrel

Another port by DVS electronics? Gross. Although, this sorta makes me wonder of there's an SNES port of Pocket Monsters 2 floating around anywhere..

Hacker Center / Famicom Mario World - Physics Patched

I feel that this is definitely a significant improvement to the gameplay! The running was always a pain to control, and the jumping felt really odd.

Famicom/NES / Another source of Hummer Team's music

I was watching a TAS of Crayon Shin Chan 4 on GB, and I noticed a familiar tune during the first segment of the ending:

This is indeed the same music that's featured as one of the tracks in Panda Adventure/Rings/Pink Jelly/etc.

I thought it would be interesting to post about it here; I found it pretty amusing, especially since I thought it was just
some generic tune Hummer quickly made.

Hacker Center / Earthworm Jim 3 > Rayman?
« on: October 09, 2015, 02:24:54 PM »
In my opinion, Earth Worm Jim's gameplay differs too drastically from Rayman's gameplay style. No one's stopping you from trying to import Rayman graphics into EWJ3, but keep in mind, there's also a decent amount of frames that would need to be replaced as well.

I know that there's certainly a lot of art from the time period that can be observed.

Famicom/NES dumps / Program used of Bootleg NES Hacks
« on: August 21, 2015, 03:39:39 PM »
I'm sorry, but what are you even asking? What program is used to make NES romhacks, or what program is used to play them? Your question is very unclear.

For emulating a lot of the games, fceux is usually a good choice, in terms of compatibility. However, fceumm seems to be a better choice for more obscure mappers.

As for romhacking, it's not really just a thing you do with one specific program, as there are many different tools and documentations for games available on the internet. Romhacking.net is a valuable source for tools and advice. The only thing I can really specifically guide you on is graphics editing, and for that, I typically use yychr, but there are other programs available such as tlp or tile molestor.

Mega Drive/Genesis / VGM rips from bootlegs
« on: July 05, 2015, 04:58:57 PM »
I just checked, and the those three seem to be the majority of SMW64's sound track indeed. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a VGM rip available for the MD version of Super Battletank; there is a rip of the SNES version though. There still seem to be a few tracks though that aren't from any of those three.

The Big Old Arcade / Tcheco - My first video game (now on Steam!) =D
« on: July 05, 2015, 04:01:58 AM »
Congrats on getting the game completed and on Steam, I really enjoyed the demo from a few months back, and I'll certainly enjoy the final version as well.

I wouldn't really call it a "new" snes game, as it's just a reproduction cartridge of an existing game.

I was wondering what I could do to get my hands on VGM packs from the following bootleg games:

• Super Mario World 64

[/quote]

The majority of Super Mario World 64's soundtrack is stolen from various megadrive titles which I'm pretty sure all rely on the GEMS sound driver.
Unfortunately, I do not know which games specifically it took tracks from.
You can check some of the GEMS games listed here: http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Mega_Drive/Genesis_Sound_Engine_List

Also, I would like to improve the music in SMW 64. Is there any easy way to replace music files in a ROM, or a tutorial for dummies on how to do that?

Many thanks!

As for recomposing the music, it would not be an easy task to re-insert the tunes into the rom, as it would require knowledge of how the sound code works.
GEMS does have some decent documentation floating around on the internet, but I'm not sure if the few Super Mario World tunes that are in the game actually use GEMS as well. This essentially means that you would either have to make your music in the correct format for the sound engine, or you would have to develop a method/tool for converting exports from Deflemask to the format.

I'm pretty sure the Sonic Worlds engine was put together in Multimedia Fusion 2.

1993-1999 / Is this even real?
« on: February 25, 2015, 10:31:34 AM »
Judging by some quick research, this is a romhack of RC Pro AM that was made a few years ago by someone over at Acmlm.
The only link I could find for it was dead, unfortunately.

Super Famicom/SNES / Obscure SNES pirates
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:08:32 PM »
Judging by what sounds like Street Fighter II sounds, it seems that the developers reused Capcom's sound engine.. much like in other games such as Pocket Monsters, and Pokemon Stadium. That video's a pretty neat find.

Isn't this just a title-swap of Sunsoft's "Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel"?
