Famicom/NES dumps / Re: VTxx Dumping Thread
« on: February 02, 2022, 04:22:03 PM »
Does anyone have a backup of all of DavidsTech's ROM dumps? They don't seem to exist anywhere else (aside from 4 of them on a Chinese forum)

Updated my collection of bootleg fighting games once again to include the rev2 versions + Dragon Ball: Final Bout (which appears to be a hack of one of the KOF bootlegs). Also just added the "School Fighter" game and its IPS patch to remove the Anti-Piracy stuff.

Still looking for solo-RIPS of Hummer Team's mascot fighting games that appeared on ZDog(?) I think, and a few other multicarts.

That's the Soul Falchion rip.

Also the other two games still have not been dumped yet, or well, Taizou I believe has dumped them, but they're not made publicly available, due to the method of dumping them, leaves them broken and unplayable. At this time, they are currently UNPLAYABLE as ROMs until the protection code on them is fixed/removed.

Here is a collection of fighting game bootlegs, there are some GB/GBC ones that you might also want to have as well if you don't already have them.

You can also get this in the most recent FamiNES Archive (ver 3.44).

I tried to edit the Wiki42 page, but apparently its broken or some shit.

Discussion Center / Re: How did you find PGC?

In all honesty, I heard about this place from a discord server, which recommended me to go to this place's discord server, which I then decided to join the site, and so on and so forth.

For the longest time, I actually figured "I wonder if I'm the only person out there that actually enjoys playing these bootleg games, despite how terrible the majority of them are" and well... coming across this, makes me realize that I'm not the only one, and that there's quite a beautiful community sounding this interest in the bootlegged.

Pirate Talk / Re: Bootleg games you like?

Okay... we all know that bootleg games are weird shit and all but there are some good ones, if any of you don't believe me. You can either like them if they're special to you in some way or, as a guilty pleasure. To start, I quite liked Kart Fighter for it being Super Mario Kart done as a fighting game even though it does suffer stiff controls and weird music playing going around. Anything from obscure Chinese developer Shenzhen Nanjing can qualify also :)

What's yours, and why?

All the Tekken fighting bootlegs. Look, I get it... they play like absolute dog crap, but let's be honest here, I think we can all appreciate that for what they are, they look quite beautiful. I mean, when I played them, I was like "yep, if I had never known the title, I would have easily knew this was Tekken without even guessing". The thing is, for a lot of people, they seem to be unable to appreciate the work (even if all of it is really just rips and edits) that go into making a bootleg. Like sure, most of them are generally just renames, but even a rename still needs work done, and I can appreciate the efforts, even if they're minimal at best.

But at the same time, games like this... if fixed by someone willing to fix them, could actually be not only good, in terms of actual gameplay, but good in the sense that you'd be like "ya know, if I didn't know any better, I would think this was real". There are a lot of interesting titles, that if under the right hand and with a little polishing on them, could pass off as a real game and not a bootleg.

Pirate Talk / Re: The fall of pirate game companies

I mean overall, making "bootlegs" and "ports" and "demakes" are kind of dead overall, but at the same time, its not so much that it is dead, but instead that it is being created on a new platform, such as being created as Android games -_- It disappoints me to be honest, I really wish there would still be more bootleg NES makers, I would legitimately buy these games still.

Pirate Talk / Re: Unlicensed Nightmare Fuel

The idea is simple enough. What with all the bad graphics and ear-splitting music, something out there in the Unlicensed World must've given you the creeps, at the very least.

For me, it's the Game Over screen in Aladdin 2, made by my arch-enemy Waixing before they became Waixing, this steaming turd, nooo, steaming melting turd of a game is a prime example of badly redrawn graphics and maddening beepy music. But when this Game Over screen came up, it was like a punch to the gut -- the soul gut. It was unexpected and kept me still for a few moments, it was...troubling and had staying power.  O_o

I named him Lord JaFuq!   :yay:

So what about you? What absolutely disturbs you in the wonderful world of unlicensed gaming?

Attachments:

I can honestly say, when I first played one of the Lion King bootlegs, the ending screen of Simba hanging himself unnerved me for a decent while.

Pirate Talk / My Bootleg Fighters Collection + Needing Missing Files

(My apologies if I posted this in the wrong section, wasn't entirely sure where I could post this)

Quick Note 1: Unlike the amazing NewRisingSun and his ability to catalog everything in such a beautiful and outstanding fashion, I unfortunately, do not have that skill at my disposal, so everything named, is as it would appear when I first downloaded it (or in the most basic of titles). So if you're expecting like some #0010101 or something like that, my sincere apologies. But I unfortunately don't have access to the perfect collection of every bootleg fighting game

Quick Note 2: If I'm missing any alternative versions, it'd be much appreciated if I could get a DL link to them, that way I can have the most complete collection possible.

Quick Note 3: I am aware I'm missing a bunch of GameGear/MasterSystem fighting bootlegs, such as Jang Pung 3, I plan on downloading those later. But for now, just trying to stockpile my current set and make sure I'm not missing any that others already have.

Of course, I'm sure someone who is far more organized than me will have the perfect pack and save me the trouble of digging around, but who knows.

MOST WANTED LIST
These are the games I want BADLY and are actively searching for and pestering people to try and buy them off of them.

Gals Fighters/Queen Fighter 2000
Chaoji Gedou 2001 α/Super Fighter 2001 Alpha

You do realize these are "bootleg" companies, right?

You don't think that they steal from each other? I wouldn't be surprised if they intentionally took games made by others, even if bootlegs themselves, just to have it. Its an interesting idea and obviously a better love story than Twilight, but nonetheless, I doubt it.
