Famicom/NES dumps / Spartan X 2 (Kung Fu 2) multicart mapper hack rip?
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:26:44 PM »
Started playing Spartan X 2 here recently and I really enjoy it. I've got it on a Coolboy Famicom multi-game cart and also on a XXX-in-1 GBA cart (which either purposely edits out some text or the text is broken by PocketNES).

I'd like to slap the English translation on this to play with a Powerpak, unfortunately the Powerpak doesn't support the mapper used by the original ROM. I've been trying to locate a mapper hack version (like used on the multi-game cart) but haven't had any luck.

Does anyone have a link?

Other Pirates / What is Retro-Bit Generations console based on?
« on: November 26, 2016, 11:52:54 AM »
Last week I unfortunately picked up one of these for $59.99 USD, ended up being total rubbish with absolutely no redeeming values. I honestly can't think of any retro game based console released (official or pirate) that is worse than this; which includes every system on a chip, plug & play, or ARM based clone. Not exaggerating when I say any of the Sega MD AT Games clones run perfect compared to this.

I haven't opened mine so I don't know what is under the hood. Being that it runs FC games with glitches and Mega Drive is unplayable (not just bad but quite literally unplayable) I didn't know if that was just shitty software emulation or some mega-cheap underpowered chip set. Since Retro-Bit tends to just rebrand Chinese products does anyone know if that's the case with this?

Mega Drive/Genesis / Street Fighter Zero 2000?
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:46:37 AM »
Stumbled across a Youtube video of this the other day, the cart is labeled "Street Fighter Zero 2000" (and also 64m..... yeah right). The full title screen displays "Street Fighter EX Zero 2000: Champion Edition".

The guy doesn't actually play the game, he just lets it run through the demo for about a minute. It doesn't have the Capcom or Sega logos nor does it have the skyscraper intro. My first reaction was that it was just another hack of the Turbo beta like SF III: 18 People. However once the title screen fades out it shows Ryu's bio in Japanese, which the beta does not have and could only be taken from the commercial release of the Japanese Special Champion Edition (or SFII' Plus as it's named in Japan).

Because he never played the game it's impossible to tell what's been changed gameplay-wise. The title screen also has a copyright date of 1999-2000 and from the condition of the cart it looks brand new.

Has anyone ever seen or heard anything about this? I have an unhealthy obsession with SFII and I'm intrigued to find out if this is something beyond a crappy title screen hack.

Famicom/NES / Family Kid title screen oddity
« on: July 13, 2014, 04:11:05 PM »
I've got a Family Kid cart that I've had for a few years now. You know how on some carts you sometimes find alternate or hidden stuff by rapidly hitting the reset button on a console or fooling with stuff in a ROM on an emulator?

I had never came across this during normal gameplay when using this cart on a Famiclone or NES with 60-72 pin adapter. However, when trying it out on my Retron5 (which is an android-based emulator that just dumps the cart and runs the ROM) it always boots to this screen allowing you to select either Family Kid or Aladdin 4.

Strange how this acts this way every time on this particular emulator but never acts that way on real hardware. I'd say Aladdin isn't actually present on the cart, even if it was this particular emulator doesn't support the correct bank switching or mappers for it to run.

What the hell was Aladdin 4 anyway?

I dumped this forever ago and just now noticed I forgot to post it.

Does anyone have a better scan or picture of this artwork? I've never seen it anywhere else, it looks pretty cool. It is on the back of the Super Fighter III hack that features Mario.

BootlegGames Wiki / Help creating new game system category
« on: May 16, 2013, 07:53:16 PM »
I'm wiki handicapped so forgive my ignorance.

Recently started on an entry for Jang Pung II, which exists on both SMS and GG. I put Game Gear as one of the categories on it, and apparently it started a page for GG games http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Game_Gear_games

'Course that one is not a "real" category page, I guess it's what's automatically generated. I didn't notice an edit button, only a create.

Then the "games by console" page http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Games_by_console doesn't show the GG category.

Could anyone that gets a chance see if they can get both of those lined out? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / MD Biohazard 3 - ROM
« on: April 19, 2013, 11:38:36 PM »
Finally after years of speculation, we can all be equally disappointed! Unsure of the dumper, but our good friend is hosting it on his site.

BIOHAZARD 3: SARS WARS ROM link

This, SWM64, now what's left?

10

No, not that Crash Bandicoot 4

Dumped from my cart a while back, looks to be based in the Famicom verison of Werewolf: The Last Warrior with a hacked title screen
and some copyright and logo screens glitched out. May have other changes, I didn't play it extensively. If I didn't already upload the box to the wiki under the PocketNES article I will soon.

The box uses "IV", but the title screen uses "4"

Here's the link

Course it's an incredibly bloated size because I'm too lazy to trim it down.

So there's obviously a shit-ton of games not covered by the wiki. My knowledge is really limited to the 16-bit era.

So could we compile a list of nigh profile games or companies that really need a wiki entry? My lack of time and procrastination really bother me, there's a lot of games play on a regular basis that are high profile titles and there isn't any entries for them.

Maybe we could make a working list of people that think are important games that haven't been pages made for. I'd even go so far as to just start a simple stub so people could have a starting point and not be intimidated since there's no entry at all.

I was hoping to either start pages or improve on pages that may already exist. Here's what I'm hoping to start soon.

Suggestins? Volunteers? I'd like to at least start these, especially if someone could help.

SNES
Soul Edge VS Samurai Spirits
Dragon Ball Z Final Bout
The King of Fighters 2000
Pokemon Stadium
Hercules 2

GBA
Digimon Ruby/ Sapphire
Expand the list of PocketNES hacks along with box art
All the shitty Sintax platformers

MD
Yang Warrior Family
Pokemon Stadium
Resident Evil
Chinese Fighter 3 / Lord of the Rings 3
The Battle of Red Cliffs
Pokemon Stadium
Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan
All the unlicensed original Russian Mario games
The Lion King 2 / 3
+ More

If anyone wants to help grab screenshots and carts or boxes, or even gameplay information that would be appreciated. I know some lazy hacks like MK6;28 person are lame hacks that wouldn't have a ton of info and may not deserve their own page, but at least people would know what the hell they are since the carts are available in just high quantity

Ideas?

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Super Mario World 64 (Unl) ROM
« on: January 12, 2013, 09:52:38 PM »
A big round of applause for Eke and Bootsector because without their help this would not have been possible.

After beating my head against a wall for a year or so trying to get this dumped I finally gave up and contacted Eke. Using the SGC Explorer designed by Bootsector he was able to pull a working dump from the cartridge and document the protection. He currently has all the routines implemented in the Wii version of Gens Plus GX 1.7.3.

It is currently possible to run Gens Plus GX under a Windows environment but I will let Bootsector explain that.

Game Boy dumps / Kirby Red Diamond ROM
« on: December 04, 2012, 01:24:05 AM »
So here's a totally groundbreaking dump of the single game PocketNES hack called Kirby Red Diamond aka Kirby's Red Star Diamond using the NES game "Kirby's Adventure"

Noteworthy because of the spectacular splash screen

KIBBY'S STAR RED DIAMAND

And also BEST FAN ART AMIRITE? I can't figure out if he's a platypus, a blackface minstrel, or the last time I ate LSD.

I did not dump this nor do I know who did, nor where the original dump was posted.

ROM attached to this post

Edit....
Hadn't played it prior to posting, looks like it hangs after the map screen in vanilla Gens, untested on real hardware or anything else. Let me know if you guys get it working or if it needs cracked.
