Famicom/NES / DreamGEAR's MyArcade- 200 in 1 Famiclone
« on: December 26, 2015, 11:59:23 PM »
Well, I somehow got this thing in my possession for Christmas.

It's a Famiclone, as I could instantly tell from the game's packaging. I was told that it contains many games from Nice Code Software alongside some pirate hacks of licensed NES games.

I'll list each game one by one, along with what game they were hacked form, unless they're original.
(Some of them I noted were also in Jontron's "Plug and Play Consoles" video, but as reskins with less color)
Most of the games that aren't originals are 61 through 110, and there's some of Nice Code's Intellivision stuff sprinkled in as well.

1993-1999 / Feng Shen Bang Discussion and Assistance
« on: March 07, 2015, 03:49:22 PM »
A long time ago I tried playing C&E's rather splendid RPG Feng Shen Bang with the intention of fully completing it. Today I decided to get back into it after looking at results of "封神榜 FC" on Google, even discovering there was a guidebook of the game published at one point.

Mostly though I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this one part of the game. It's sometime after the third party member (I believe he;s named Yang Jian) leaves your party a bit after falling ill for "insert reason here", leaving you with just Na Zha and the girl you picked up after the first chapter.

In this part of the game there's a cave,... with a passageway that is blocked off by a treasure chest that will not go away.

The surrounding paths are blocked off for several other reasons:
*The path directly adjacent to this cave has these two trees that dance in place and force Na Zha back two tiles if he enters their sight.
*The small boat that you can set sail on from a lakeside town cannot go through the rivers, which means you cannot reach the house of the fourth and final party member.
*In the middle of the lake is a shrine that is completely blocked off by giant lily pads.

Pirated Work / Super Boy II in Mari0
« on: December 25, 2014, 01:40:53 PM »
Sometime back in Summer 2013 I made a remake of Super Boy II in the PC game "Mari0", which is a fusion of SMB1's gameplay with the Portal series' portal mechanics.

Hacker Center / BB Car Hack
« on: December 04, 2014, 04:52:25 PM »
This is a ROM hack of the infamous Famicom Rally-X clone "BB Car" by Hwang Shinwei. It aims to polish up the game's graphic CHRs so it bears a closer resemblance to Rally X.

Changelist:
*Different Car graphics
*No unique Smokescreen graphics, since Rally-X only had one across every level.
*Improved "BANG" explosion, Rock, and Level Boundaries graphics.
*Tweaked the palette for the inside stage walls.

Famicom/NES / Super Shrek Bros and Scoring roms converted
« on: April 23, 2014, 12:55:30 PM »
A while back I downloaded a 100-in-1 multicart ROM which doesn't work on my main emulator of choice (NEStopia's Mac OS X version). It included two graphic hacks of Super Mario Bros and Arkanoid, titled Super Shrek Bros and Scoring respectively. I then went into YY-CHR, grabbed the graphics from the multicart, and pasted them into vanilla ROMS of Super Mario Bros and Arkanoid, resulting in single ROMS of both games.

The only drawback is that they do not include the palettes (I'm not skilled at palette editing in NES ROMS), but otherwise everything else is there.

Game Boy / Gowin's Magic Lamp
« on: October 21, 2012, 11:39:11 PM »
I'm certain I'm not the only one that knows about this game, but after seeing it from Qiezei's interesting game footage posted last December, I am eager to try it. Sadly no dump of either the Chinese or English versions exists to my knowledge, and IMO it looks very interesting and something I'd find enjoyable (even if I'm not that good at Mega Man games in general, and those games are meant to be hard).

I'm uncertain if it's possible to dump this cart, as I've been told Gowin titles have loads of encrypted protection.

1993-1999 / Things you probably didn't know about Bao Qing Tian
« on: June 09, 2012, 01:46:45 PM »
Well seeing as there's no dedicated thread to this game, I thought I'd open one up to share some things regarding the game's plot and characters.

Pretty much everyone knows it's a poor side-scrolling platformer with a character that moves like a Mortal Kombat character and has jumping physics equal to those of many Contra characters, the speed making it tougher to land on platforms that are only one block in size. Enemies have alright designs, but many seem to just be recoded from one another, in that they all basically shoot projectiles. There are small differences though with each shooting/throwing enemy.

However I feel as if not every detail was covered regarding the title, so I'll share some of what I learned.

*The game was made by NT, or "K" if you prefer, the same team that made the Panda Prince (China sure does love their pandas).

*The character you control is not Bao Zheng himself, but rather his bodyguard/sidekick Zhan Zhao.

*Pushing Select will call in Bao to perform a special move that causes all enemies on screen on screen to receive one hit point of damage each. Very weak for a special move, considering you can land blows on an enemy faster just by spamming the crouching kick. If you   rather rely on these for getting a few cheap shots, they can be replenished by collecting flags.

*If present, the second player maneuvers a light-browner palette swap of Zhan. Strangely he is not controlled by the second controller; I guess NT was too lazy to add function mappings to controller 2. This could allude to how in some instances, you see Ahan with a your robe instead of his trademark red one.

*The game was possibly based on Justice Bao, a 1993 Taiwanese TV series, as Bao Zheng's appearance in the game is very similar to his appearance in the show.

And now I leave you with bonuses.
