Oh well, I tried...

So I was trying out the crappy GBC game "N-Sync: Get To The Show" and discovered something strange:

If you wait on the screen where you type in your player's name, you'll hear that the triangle channel is unmistakably Hummer's "wah-wah" instrument.  O_o  As much as you guys hate emulation links, I have no choice but to prove my point with one (it's a flash emulator, so it'll work right away)

I dunno if I'm doing something wrong, but the music in Ducktales is pretty screechy and the controls don't work.

1993-1999 / Release dates of Famicom pirates?
« on: April 20, 2016, 04:10:45 PM »
Does anyone know how to find out the release date of pirate Famicom games? I'm not keen for the exact day, just the month would be enough.

I'm guessing you can find the month on the PCB or in the rom, but is there another way?

The Tom is a bit bleached out, but otherwise he's normal, while Pocket Color Block is the Eastern version of a GBC game called Dragon Dance.

I visited a flea market in my town today and came back with two bootleg multicarts:

The first is the ALL COLOR 7 in 1 (A) which contains:
1. Lola Bunny (Bugs & Lola Bunny: Carrot Crazy)
2. Pocket Block (Pocket Color Block)
3. Frogger (Majesco remake)
4. Mickey Chase (Mickey's [Dangerous] Chase)
5. Tom & Jarry [sic] 2 (Tom & Jerry Part 2, on the menu as "TOM & JERRY CAT")
6. Super Mario (Mario Land)
7. Top Tennis

The second one is more crappier, the NEW - Q 32 IN 1. Of the 32 games included, they're just the same six games repeated over and over again. These games are:

1. Spider Man 3 (Spider Man: Invasion of the Spider Slayers) This has some pretty funky music for an LJN game.  :)
2. Mickey Mouse 3 (again, Mickey's [Dangerous] Chase)
3. Duck Tales
4. Soccer Mania
5. Dead Heat Scramble. (Never heard of this game before. It looks like a Micro Machines ripoff, but apparently it isn't)
6. Tennis (The Gameboy version of NES Tennis)

Super Famicom/SNES / Mortal Kombat Mythologies Gold 2000

I'm guessing the SNES version came out in 99/00 to cash in on the release of MK Gold.

1993-1999 / King of Fighters 96 music
« on: April 09, 2016, 04:02:02 PM »
I had a look on The Cutting Room Floor and as a KOF fan (hence my name) I can say that one of the songs is in fact Esaka from the original game. The music in the dock/Iori Women Team stage is the Art of Fighting team's theme from KOF '98 (if you've played the game before, you'll recognize the theme at the 0:15/0:16 mark here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXSD6LY5HEc originally it was Todoh's theme from Art of Fighting, but since KOF '98 came out the same year as Hummer's '96 did...)

Mortal Kombat 4 on GBC. Controls are dirt, music - if you can call it that - sucks, Liu Kang's name is misspelled in some ROMs and you can beat the game in about 5 minutes.

I have a Sachen cart from '95 with 4 of the company's original games on it. I made a video of it here:

Pirate Talk / My "feel" for when bootlegs were released
« on: February 26, 2016, 04:01:44 PM »
Ever since I got into bootleg games, I've been having a special feel for when a bootleg was released, especially for Yong Yongs and Hummer Teams. Not the exact day, but the month if the year is provided.

And no, I can't explain it. :D

Here are some examples:
Super Mario 3 Special - July/August 2000
Pokemon Adventure - November or December 2000
Final Fight 3 - late August/early September-October 1998
Pokemon Diamond (SMB3S hack) Early 2001
Pokemon Jade (SA7 hack) Summer 2001
Rockman 8 - mid-1999?
Street Fighter Zero 2 '97 - July 1997
DKC4 - September 1997
Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan - December 1999
Hercules II - ca. early April 1999?
KOF '00 - July/August 2000?
Rockman X3 (GBC) and Sonic Adventure 8 - both ca. March 2000?

Now the question is: Is there any sort of feature (ROM date, final build date) that could back up these dates?

Mega Drive/Genesis / Help!
« on: November 17, 2015, 12:00:40 PM »
The problem is, all of them look like total...turd and I wouldn't want to have them in my house...So far the best looking one and the one I'd accept would be this: http://segaretro.org/images/0/0f/MegaDriveX.jpg

And it seems to run JPN, EU and US carts all flawlessly, plus, it has language settings and an overclock feature! So if I'm gonna get a...uh...ingenious name needed that combines the words Mega Drive/Genesis and clone!...it's definitely going to be that one
