Well I find the game more playable as well.
but I got a complaint of someone that lost his Yoshi and he wasn't able to get it back because yoshi is running as fast as mario now :P

Hey people,

I've been playing around with the Super Mario World port by Hummer Team.
I liked the game, but running and jumping was awful !
Some pits were almost impossible to jump over and running almost instantly made me run into enemies because mario was running like sonic (speedwise)

This evening I took the rom for a little trip down debugging road and after a while I managed to slow down the running.

After patching the running, I looked at the jumping routines in the rom and I also managed to make mario jump without slowing down so much and some pits I really found difficult to jump can be jumped much easier now.

the patched rom can be downloaded here:

I want to learn how to put roms on a catridge, but it looks like hard and expensive, I would resell games with my graphical remakes.
It's not that hard, but you need an eprom programmer and some eproms.
all the info for wiring the eproms to the board can be found online.

Btw. I had a spare empty MMC3 pcb in a parts bin (stripped in the past for another project, but I think I might have lost interest or found out it wasn't the needed board), so I'm gonna test my rom on real hardware soon.

OMG you put The Hummer on a single-cart? That's so cool! But why wasn't there sound, other than the typical camera sounds?
The sound is missing cause the laptop it was running on was broken when I got it.
the wire between the motherboard and the speakers is still busted, but I got the rest working.

[EDIT]
Ok, now a video of the thing running on Nintendulator - with a speaker attached to the headphone port of this laptop.

Now all I wanna do is try running it on real hardware

Hey People!

I don't know if you guys know about the somari hack called THE HUMMER.
It was released on the very rare Super New Year Cart 15-in-1 from Hummer Team, which runs a weird mapper (mapper 45)
This mapper is an MMC3 clone, but with some weird cards up it's sleeve.

It was also released on some plug and play NOAC based consoles, but every level had a menu entry as a separate game.

A few hours (and notes) of work later, I managed to extract the game from the 15-in-1 cart, and make it run on a standard mapper 4 (MMC3)

Look at the youtube video below:
