Pirated Game Reviews / Re: Stub Game Review
« on: May 22, 2020, 08:11:32 PM »
Say, after reading this review I just realized something! Towers Of Hanoi totally ripped this off! The nerve of those guys, copying an all-time classic like Stub Game!

Is Deerstalking a Zapper or Hyper shot gun game?
Super late reply at this point but it's neither, you moved a cursor around the screen (which you could also scroll at will) with the d-pad and pressed A on top of the deer to shoot them. They hardly ever popped up on the screen either, most of the time you were just looking at trees.

Also I almost want to get my hands on another one of these things just for the memories, however painful some of them may be. They included the version of Wonder Rabbit where you press select to change rabbits but the unit had no select button, as a kid that shit confounded me for years lmao

some of the resources like backgrounds do not load/are replaced with corrupted garbage.
They're all in working order on my end, you sure your emulator's up to date? I had that same problem with Pinball Fish and Squirrel Bobble a while back, it turned out to be because my copy of VBA hadn't been updated since 2005!

Woah, haven't seen this thread in a while! Surprised nobody's brought up Top Fighter or that King Of Fighters '99 Genesis bootleg, they're both pretty solid fighters. Generally speaking I think the Vii is probably one of the highest-quality plug'n'play systems out there, though a bit of fanboyism on my part may be coming through there  :P

Famicom/NES dumps / MiWi2 (VT168) Dumping Attempt
« on: December 09, 2017, 01:28:31 PM »
EmuVT seems to have some kind of VT168 support, you can select it from the drop-down Options menu. However, when I tried running the Arcade rom it just misinterpreted it as a VT03 rom and then crashed. Perhaps this'll be a bit of a help in getting those working though?

Are there any 1-on-1 fighters available for it?
Not that I know of, the closest you're gonna get is probably Street Hero or one of its variants. However, I have seen a one-on-one fighter called King Boxing on some cheap-o handheld which seems to use cloned Game King hardware.

Game Boy / More JungleTac GBA ports?

Man, Jungletac really doesn't put much thought into these GBA ports. When re-scaling the graphics it looks like they just run everything through an algorithm and don't actually check if it looks decent. What's interesting, however, is that these particular ROMs appear to use the original MIDI versions of the music without applying a soundfont (compare Lightning Plan's music in inability's capture to footage of it on the Zone 60 or the Vii). I wonder if it'd be possible to extract them with GBA Music Ripper or something?

Hanoic Tower has definitely shown up on other Jungletac consoles under a different name, and they've done Lights Out style games before, although I don't think I've seen any with those exact graphics.
Yeah, those exact same games are also on the VG Pocket Caplet. I'd get some proof for ya but I dismantled mine years ago for a school project or something.

By the way, if you google "Lightning Plan.gba" (or a handful of other Jungletac games) you'll find that someone's uploaded a whole bunch of the roms to Baidu. Unfortunately I've been unable to actually download any of 'em so far since the connection is so slow that it only makes it about halfway before dying (which is pretty spectacular since they're only a megabyte or two each), so if anyone else has better luck than me feel free to post 'em here!

Unfortunately, this project is currently in the realm of vaporware due to my bad habit of talking up projects long before I should (when they are in very early development and it's very likely I will lose interest) that I had at the time.

Pirate Talk / When did you first come across pirate games?
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:50:55 PM »
Many, many years ago, back when I first discovered YouTube, one of the first pseudo-memes I started following was the Angry German Kid. Eventually I stumbled across this video:
Angry German Kid Plays Sonic Adventure 7

And my interest with pirated games sort of snowballed from there.  :somari:

Oh yeah, not sure if it qualifies as a port but Sensible Soccer on the PSX is awful. Bad graphics, bad controls and possibly the worst commentary in any sports game.
Weren't they outdone by Total Soccer on Net Yaroze?
