2000-present / Re: Preserving the Subor GTMC-18 300-in-1

Here's (probably) the first available HD footage of the first game on the multicart. The rest of the 299 games appears to be the same set of Nice Code/Inventor garbage so I won't record them for now, but feel free to request me to record a few unique games on the cartridge (if there're any).

Probably a very late update (almost 1 and 1/2 years!), I've purchased the GTMC-18 console on Idlefish and I expect it to arrive in a few days. Since this thing also comes with an HDMI port I also purchased an HDMI capture card so I can record (I believe) the first HD footage of the Adventure Island 2 hack on the 300-in-1 if everything goes planned. The only problem now is that I don't have the necessary tools for ROM dumping.

Sorry for lack of updates here, I got pretty busy recently. Anyway, here's the new 80-in-1 ROM. Don't get too excited, they're all games with 32KB or smaller PRG and CHR (with the sole exception being the Twinbee MMC3 hack which is 64KB PRG), so I can fit as many games as possible within the 2MB+2MB limit. The background character is my OC created in Gacha Life 2, converted with the same method in SF-1015. Also I left a small change on the Badminton game, you'll be surprised to find out.

Here's a 4-in-1 multicart I made to test I-CHR which is a tool to convert PNGs into CHRs. I've used I-CHR on SF-1010 before, but this is the first time I used with a non-emulator screenshot (in this case, the LoveLive Days art of Ren Hazuki from LoveLive Superstar which I found on LoveLive Wiki). The convertion process is not that straightforward - I have to reduce the color in Paint.net and change the palette within NES palette limitations for the best results. The end result is cool regardless. (Also I used a self-modified version of Sonic 3 Special Stage music from Famistudio's examples, of which I removed Namco 163 expansion audio. )

Famicom/NES / Re: How to get dumped roms into a useful format?

Can you put up the ROM you've dumped there? It would be useful to figure out what mapper it runs on and create a header for it if a ROM is available.

That's interesting, can't wait to try it out. I've made many custom multis before, but I didn't made one with all custom hacks yet (I'm not good at making pixel art for ROM hacks).

Hacker Center / Earthworm Jim 2 - All Levels
« on: September 07, 2025, 11:21:10 PM »
The MMC3 release of this game has a bug which skips Round 4 (Lorenzen's Soil) of the game. The reason is because when Round 3 (Puppy Love) was completed, it adds 1 to the level counter. However, the game's level complete logic then adds 1 to the level counter too, resulting Round 4 being skipped entirely. Later versions fixed this bug, but runs on Ka Sheng's copy protection mapper (Mapper 121).

This simple hack attempts to fix the bug on the MMC3 release of the game, so the game in its entirety can be "enjoyed" on most emulators.

V1.1 Update: Fixed problems regarding the FCEUX emulator.
Patch it with a No-Intro Panda Prince ROM.

Why do both patches have the same CRC32 despite having vastly different sizes?

Contrary to what you write, the patching utility demands the original Panda Prince ROM file, not my MMC3 conversion, as you said, with a NES 1.0 header. I don't like the .BPS format at all because it does not verify the file body separately from the header, and because the "Beat" client has a very awkward user interface in Windows.

The MMC3 hack is included in the patch, and I used the original ROM as a base to submit it to romhack.ing (and I'll later submit to romhackplaza.com) properly. I will update the patch later to address the header problem and an issue in FCEUX.

For some reason there're over half of the game's content left unused in-game (including the Wasp shown in the intro). This hack makes all eight stages and all three boss fights accessable. This hack is based on the MMC3 conversion by NewRisingSun, meaning it can be run on emulators that doesn't support Mapper 121.

The "language select" patch also brings up a language select menu on startup in addition to the above changes, but at the expense of running on an uncommon multicart mapper. In the original game, the language is hardcoded in the ROM.

Technical information:

$06F3: Current level

$06F9: Language (0=Chinese, 1=English)

Here's the standalone ROM of Jungle Book 2. I've accessed the DKC4 portion by hacking the game, but since this conversion is built for Jungle Book 2 in mind, the DKC4 portion have several graphical problems and I won't post it here for now.

I've hacked the 3-in-1 ROM to autoboot Saint Seiya. I'm currently figuring on getting the rest of the two games work in standalone form.
Currently the NESDev Wiki doesn't have any info on this particular mapper, but it seems to write to $B000 when selecting the other two games, which I assume it's switching the outer bank of the ROM.

As a bonus, I've also headered the "Unknown VT02-based 25-in-1" in MAME. The current ROM on FCpics is the exact same unheadered ROM in the MAME archive.

MAME recently added support of Magical Cooking and Gaoranger DX Soul Bird (both of which are UM6578-based licensed plug 'n plays from Bandai). I've headered them with NES 2.0.
NintendulatorNRS currently doesn't seems to support the Gaoranger controller.

A multicart about cars. I covered the opening of the Haruhi anime (2009 version) for this menu.

(QUICK UPDATE: Fixed audio looping problems on the menu. )
