Title: That mysterious Aladdin 2 cart
Post by: brightentayle on March 28, 2013, 02:13:12 PM
...just for a heads up.

Okay, so there were at least three people (Picrodius, KingPepe and RobGBA) who forced me to get this (http://aukro.ua/kartridzh-game-boy-advance-aladdin-2-i3097449483.html).

The cart itself is pretty much cheap dirt: 50 hryvnas to buy it out instantly and 25 as a minimal bet, all that without the shipping. And it's only five days till the auction closes, by the time I made this thread!

The problem is that by the time the item will be delivered, I'll most likely go out to visit my relatives in Taganrog, Russia, as well as my girlfriend in the same location, although my mom will bring the parcel home, so that's not much of a bother. There's also a more serious issue, though... I'm trying to buy a jack in the box and neither me nor everyone else on these boards knows whether it's that shitty Sintax platformer we've all been waiting for or... Or, even worse, that horrendous excuse of a game by Chengdu Tai Jing Da Dong Computer Co. crammed into an emulator. I won't be able to find that out when I get the cartridge either, because I don't own a GBA (even the copycat one).

Judging by what this game could be, it sounds less like a jack-in-the-box and more like Pandora's Box. :P Just hope that's a pirate of Hummer Team's Aladdin or something.

EDIT: Oh look, this guy has a Recca bootie (http://aukro.ua/kartridzh-dlya-dendy-summer-carnival-i3097336910.html)! Wanna wanna wanna!
Okay I don't know if it's by sintax but I thought that we all greed it was a pirate original. It even is the same cart as the on the 64scener guy shows on his page http://www.64scener.com/gba/pir-alad2.htm (http://www.64scener.com/gba/pir-alad2.htm)  Even as said by codeman38

So it's a Sintax platformer rather than a PocketNES cart with Aladdin II on NES? :O

Well yeah, he's seen that. The colour of the label on the auction is more of a different shade of blue, so it might not be the pirate.

Yeah, if you saw the post by codeman last month. :P
However another cart which contains the PocketNES game exists. Even I saw it dumped.

Placed a bet not so long ago. Eight hours till the auction ends.
...no one else placed it. Yet. Yay!

Update. The seller had balls to check his product's state right before the auction ended, and he said it was far away from mint. That is, not working. And so he cancelled the deal permamently.

Therefore, this thread is a breach.

I hope the Recca cartridge will work fine, though.

If he's testing it on a DS or a GBA clone it probably won't work even if the cart is OK though. These Sintax games only work on an original GBA or GBA SP.

Okay, so I guess I need to ask him about the hardware it was tested on ASAP.

Otherwise if he has nothing to test it, you could ask him to throw the cart for free or half the price, etc.

I'm starting to think the games won't work on anything else but GBA/SP because it has no proper header. The DS seems to search for the header, in case you have a game or an expansion pack. That's what could be the problem we're having. As for clones, that's probably because they don't have the same BIOS.. I think.

(Reason I know about the DS thing is because I had a 'DS Fire Link' thing which had an expansion GBA cart to transfer over stuff. Also, I think it's how PassMe works.)

Wrote this guy a message regarding that, not so long ago.

Also, why on Mars he keeps delaying the end of Recca's auction again and again and again? :pandamad:

Recca and Ristar SWAGGED.

Also, it appears he has tested the Aladdin 2 cart on both original GBA and GBA SP.

Well, we'll never see any footage of Aladdin 2 then. (but who knows? Maybe another will appear somewhere.)

Well, we'll never see any footage of Aladdin 2 then. (but who knows? Maybe another will appear somewhere.)
Which also brings us to the conclusion of that not only Sintax's games on GBA are failures, but the cartridges they're on as well!

Well, my Digimon Rury and Sapphire carts died for no reason a while ago, so it's probably just pirates not knowing the GBA well enough.

Another update. So, it's still unclear whether he really sent the carts or not, but that's not what I was going to talk about.

After RobGBA got his Donkey Kong 2 cart, he, reportedly, couldn't make it work until he resetted his GBA several times. Well, it seems to me that the seller got stuck into a similar situation, so that's why he thought it was out of order... Yay.

So, the hunt is still on, considering I've missed my chance to rope it out.

hmmmm the Super Contra 7 next to it looks interesting as well - its kinda hard to make out but it looks like it says "Jump Technology", which was one of Sintax's aliases..

Yeah it does have ACT written on it too. Something I have seen on a lot of sintax's platformers.
