I agree with you here, if we want dumps it's for actual 'pirated' ones, not ones which were actually publicly released and still are.

This is one reason why I tried taking the SFT releases off the undumped list on the wiki once, since I can't see us caring about those plus not wanting to incur SFTs wrath since they'll inevitably come down on us =p I went through it once myself by posting the PC version of Beggar Prince somewhere, didn't take long for him to alert a mod and my link to be taken away.

[/quote]i dunno what you mean by "publicly released" - surely all the games posted here were publicly released in some form or another.  but i mean, if it's a game that's still being sold or that the copyright owners express some kind of desire to do something with in the near future, it probably shouldn't be here. like lets say if hypothetically Hummer Team straightened things out with Nintendo and Sega and then decided to put Somari on the Virtual Console I wouldn't want that posted here either. I'm just interested in preserving games that have been abandoned by their creators and would otherwise be lost/forgotten, but if they're still on sale it's pretty safe to say that they haven't.

I dont know exactly what is going on, but topics keep disappearing.  Can we please get a clear policy of what is allowed and what is not allowed for posting and linking to commercial sites?  Thank you.

The stuff is getting pretty darker, now that Piko got the rights to many bootlegs. I don't want to advertise here but i don't feel like giving the same explanation again. Here: http://bootleg.games/BGC_Forum/index.php?topic=2677.0 (http://bootleg.games/BGC_Forum/index.php?topic=2677.0)

What should we do? Perhaps Piko will attack the wiki requesting for us to remove the pages? Like, take down the Barver Battle Saga page?

Thus i guess all BFF roms on the net are illegal. That sucks because it's a good game.

You're overreacting.

We haven't gotten any complaints from Piko on this forum before and even if we were asked to take anything down, it's not like these ROMs aren't elsewhere. Yes, the BBS situation was a bit messed up (Although iirc the translation wasn't stolen.) but Piko has yet to make any demands regarding any of the games here. There's also no reason for him to take down the wiki page because... we're not distributing the game on there.

Yes, but they've taken down the translation of the game. They weren't distributing the game, dammit! All the fan translators were distributing was a thing for us to understand the text. Sure i may be overracting but c'mon.

I don't know. Perhaps obey and purchase it...?
