Title: A few new Waixing/Nanjing dumps
Post by: taizou on September 13, 2011, 12:01:10 PM
from tszone: http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/e3eaa1ca566ee59dc81768d3.html (http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/e3eaa1ca566ee59dc81768d3.html)

Zhen Jia Hou Wang, an awful platform game by Waixing, and Chong Wu Gao Da Zhan Ji by Nanjing which i've yet to play but looks like Pokemon and Gundam had a baby.

he also held a poll about which roms to release here: http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/653948d9e2421af238012f07.html (http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/653948d9e2421af238012f07.html)
so from the looks of things KOF R1 by Nanjing and "Dream Master"  by Waixing are in the pipeline, I have no idea what the latter is but no one voted for it, poor thing ):

There's also one more Waixing game from kamming: http://hi.baidu.com/kamming/blog/item/4eacf8cae29e485df21fe7b4.html (http://hi.baidu.com/kamming/blog/item/4eacf8cae29e485df21fe7b4.html)
Ji Dou Sheng Zhan Shi, a Chinese translation of Bikkuriman World.
incidentally i read that page through google translate and i'm a big fan of google's translation of the chinese for (presumably) "dumped by" as "sucked out by"

I wonder if Dream Master is just a Chinese translation hack of Little Nemo? Given Waixing, this would not surprise me at all if it were the case.

The Japanese version of the game doesn't actually have "Dream Master" in the title and the (presumed) title screen used there looks completely different to the one from Little Nemo.

Intro song of the PokéGundam game. What is it? It is amazing :o

tszone posted some more Waixing stuff:
http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/2d3183459aaab73acefca372.html (http://hi.baidu.com/tszone_fc/blog/item/2d3183459aaab73acefca372.html)
Some are variations/hacks of dumped games but I don't think Super Rich and Grandia have been released before now (at least not in a working form.. correct me if I'm wrong).

Curious what emulator he used to run those new Waixing ROMs-- neither cah4e3's FCEU mod nor Nestopia will run them for me. I just get a gray or black screen.

Edit: Ah, never mind, should've checked the other folder! There's a new custom build of VirtuaNES, along with source code for the new mappers. (cah4e3, want to incorporate these into your FCEU mod?)
The character sprite in Zheng Jiu Shi Ji (拯救世纪) is totally Prince Ali from "The Story of Thor"/"Beyond Oasis". Consistently, too; that's him in the intro sequence. Surprisingly, this is one of Waixing's earlier efforts-- yet they ripped off graphics from a game that was 2 years old at the time!

Edit: The sprite is retraced, of course-- that'd explain how they knocked off the graphics from a game that was released 2 years prior. But it's still blatantly obvious:

On the subject of Zheng Jiu Shi Ji, I thought it was a Beyond Oasis pirate because it contained Prince Ali. I played the game days ago and I have no idea what to do in it... someone help me please? :(

Then go in the top right corner to go to the second area.

Wow, that second screenshot is just hilarious. A room full of chibi folks, and Prince Ali sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, it's funny isn't it? Anyway, thanks for the tips, Xander :)

EDIT: Although I got past that hurdle, I had no idea what to do in the other level where you're in some warehouse and there's a large fire blocking the way. What am I supposed to do? Damn, that game's so confusing.

Also, why is everything in the town areas out of proportion? The houses are smaller than the prince bloke (I've got a bad memory and I can't be bothered to check the page) and the trees look like balls with beanbags on them.
