Title: Help me identify this "Pokémon" bootleg?
Post by: TheTrees on March 01, 2014, 09:56:49 PM
Hi. I'm trying to help someone on another website identify a bootleg. He/she said that the cartridge was named "Pokémon Ruby" but I can't seem to find any games (aside from the Yong Yong pirate) that are similar to this picture.

This screenshot has the original sprite. In the bootleg you played as Charmander, but due to some glitch the original sprite appeared.

Please help!

PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Feel free to move it but please warn me if you're going to delete the thread.

That would be Mitsume ga Tooru (三つ目がとおる - a.k.a., The Three-Eyed One) for Famicom.

Thank you very much! You wouldn't happen to know the bootleg, too, would you? The guy said he bought it from eBay...

I've never seen this pirate before.

There doesn't seem to be a single consistent name for the hacked version. This archived page from TRsRockin (https://web.archive.org/web/20110123161413/http://trsrockin.com/fakegames.html) shows the GBA PocketNES version under the name "Pokemon Ruby Version 3", while Pirated Game Museum (http://piratedgamemuseum.wikia.com/wiki/Mitsume_ga_Tooru) shows the Famicom cart under the names "Pocket Red" and "Pokemon Red Version".
