Title: Gekioko Punpun Maru: how to launch this game?
Post by: lancuster on August 01, 2024, 05:23:14 PM
The only more or less sane information about this game was found in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etrsXSGL_IA
On the menu screen, the player presses some buttons that make a completely different sound than when pressing button A on 1st controller, and then he returns to the "1 player"and starts. I couldn't figure out which buttons he was pressing.
There is no information on this on the Internet, only information about the version of this game for Sega Master System.

I found out that this is not a real game, but an ordinary techno demo with sounds. I took the liberty and moved the intro screen of this "game" to real hardware. Perhaps, I will solve the issue of transferring the backgrounds and the rest of the sprites.
PS. I hope this game will become real one day.

There's a fully-playable Master System port of the game. I also found a demo of the NES version which only has character moving. From what I've read the NES version's development process went secretly and they probably done the full game in private; and also the full game could have playable with scrolling (like Ninja Haggleman on GCCX?). Source code is attached on this post along with the ROMs

Also I'm tackling with NESfab recently so hopefully I can make a recreation out of them.

I wish you good luck with learning NESFab. Unfortunately, I've done everything I can suggest (programming is clearly not my thing).
I found a screenshot that I was able to restore and correct the proportions in the mockup.
