Title: Finding a Vii (Found It!)
Post by: Linkrulezall on June 24, 2011, 12:57:38 AM
Remember the Chintendo Vii? You know, The one made by Jungle Soft?

Well, after browsing through literally 10 pages of defunct links, news articles, and hundreds of mirrors of the video Ashens made (how much can you steal one guy's video?), Look what I found!
http://www.alibaba.com/member/hk105208353/search/product?IndexArea=product_en&SearchText=vii%20console (http://www.alibaba.com/member/hk105208353/search/product?IndexArea=product_en&SearchText=vii%20console)

The original Vii! The guy selling them doesn't want to sell less than 50 pcs, but maybe we can convince him to send us one to try out?
I really hope this helps someone, because it took me 2 hours to eventually find this. Also, If you're looking for an 8-bit Vii or a Vii 2, here's another link:

They're so proud they completely ripped off Nintendo. That's funny =p

I think you'd be better off trying to find one on eBay or something, TBH.

did they? eBay here seems to be full of MiWis and WiWis (and in one case, a "Mii Wii", which impressively manages to completely miss the point of dodging trademarks by actually including "Wii" in its name), it seems odd that they'd only ban the Vii and allow the rest.

They're probably not aware of the rest, which if would be really stupid on their part if that actually was the case.

Mind you, I can find a fair few multicarts on the site and those rarely get taken down from what I noticed. Of course, if I sold pirate carts I'd be doing that through PayPal or something. :D

Drat! They only had PAL systems! I actually returned it, because that thing cost me a lot of money!

I could be wrong, but aren't newer TVs supposed to be compatible with multiple formats? (I know mine's capable of both a PAL and NTSC signal)

Even TVs that are compatible with both formats don't necessarily work well with these cheap plug & play consoles - i have a newish HD LCD and an oldish SD CRT, the LCD can take NTSC signals but the picture from P&P consoles and/or famiclones is god awful (I'm not sure if it has issues with all composite video or just the presumably low quality output of these things though). the CRT works fine with them but it's PAL only. so if I want to play something cheap and NTSC I have to do it through my PC.

Wow the Vii should be very interesting. lol. Speaking of Wii clones, one time I say one that was called the Stix 500. Anyone ever seen/heard of one?

Never heard of that one, admittely. Do you have any information, images or whatever of it?

Unfortunately no. The one and only time I saw it was at a store called Price Busters. (They often have weird pirate stuff there) But I did try finding some stuff here on the interwebs, but no luck.:( I'm pretty sure it was called Stix 500 or 300.

Well I've never heard of Price Busters so I can only assume it's not a British store. :P

Oh gosh that's it! I didn't know it was a computer control. But how did you find this?
Title: Finding a Vii (Found It!)
Post by: taizou on August 11, 2011, 05:58:37 PM
I just searched for "stix game console" without any numbers after it. Seems like the actual models were Stix 200 and Stix 400, so you were close lol.

I was close lol. XD Oh I just looked at the site a little more, I see they have a Hello Kitty game. I'm gonna guess probably not licensed...Also I tried looking at their store but my firefox says it's an "Untrustworthy Connection" :O

the weird thing is even though  http://games.azooca.com (http://games.azooca.com) is full of flash games and links to the Stix page, if you click on the "home" link from there it takes you to http://www.azooca.com (http://www.azooca.com) which even though it has the same logo, doesn't mention any games at all and is apparently a "community for social decisions". what.
also there's one game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgcZoA2jl90) called "Joy of Ping Pong", which is the same name as the ping pong game on the Super Arcade by AtGames. but the game itself is completely different. no idea if there's any connection there.
edit: that game was developed by a Chinese company called Transmension (http://www.transmension.com) for what it's worth. they seem to have made all the 3D games for this thing (all four of them - the rest look like cheap flash games)

Perhaps are azooca.com, Transmesion, and Stix all connected? I saw the tennis game on Stix's website is called "Prince of Tennis." Oh btw I think the game that made me lulz the most was uFit Yoga.

Well it's good to see a Wii clone that looks 40 times better than those Zone consoles. That, and another Chinese developer that can actually be bothered to get the licence to make alternate versions of existing games. (The PopCap TV games, that is)

Vii systems are are easy to come by in China if you know where to look. It's just that Chinese people know it's a scam. They overcharged for the console to try and capture some of the Wii fad going around, and now it's dead. If you've seen some Chinese websites and blogs at the time, you'll note people even opened up the console and found iron bars fixed to the case to make the product seem more substantial.

In general, you don't see it for sale openly anymore because no one wants one. Even if you lowered the price, I doubt many local Chinese would get one. Normally you just see them quietly in a corner, with no price or heavily discounted. Unless the shop is living in a fantasy world and still keeps the price high (Which happens, but no one really gets suckered into it).

I think the same pretty much goes overseas; a few shops in my hometown sometimes sell one of the "Zone" brand Wii clones at about £10.

Well I guess if you're buying a GBC game in China you *know* it's (99% likely) going to be a bootleg so you'd never expect the label to look right. It's not like the Wii where the knockoffs arent even close in terms of functionality and software - your average GBC bootleg works exactly the same as the original but is much cheaper, so I doubt people in China were ever exactly trying to avoid them.

and quite often a Yong Yong game's packaging is indistinguishable from a bootleg of a licensed game, so you could well end up buying one by accident (unless you were reasonably well up on which games actually existed, and you knew there were no legit GBC Digimon games or anything like that). And then there are probably people who knew all about pirate originals but were just trying to find some Vast Fame games. :D
