Super Famicom/SNES / Twin Eagles Group rom hacks
« on: June 21, 2011, 10:36:52 PM »
Cyberlip is a Neo-Geo game that never got ported to any other console. It's strange, since it looks like a very, very early build yet the ROM itself is huge.

I'd love to get a copy of whatever version exists of their Street Fighter II VS X-Men hack. Any idea what original game Man in the Iron Mask was based on?

Random points...

Holy shit, _these_ are the guys behind the SFII:CE hack? I'd have never suspected that in a million years. I've been trying to find out something, anything about that hack for forever and came up with nothing. Fucking hats off to them.

Holy shit x2, a port of Cyberlip to the Mega Drive!?! Was this ever completed beyond what is included in that zip file?

Street Fighter II vs X-Men, a hack based on the SFII':Turbo engine? I'd gladly pay just to play the unfinished version!

BootlegGames Wiki / Hacks

I don't see a problem in having individual pages for hacks as long as they are "legitimate" pirates; ie released commercially and not a homebrew fan project. While I'm sure there exist hacks that I couldn't say more than a sentence about others may have a much deeper knowledge of the history or work that went into creating them.

Also, there's a lot of hacks that are either undumped or undocumented; I would hate to squelch discussion on them simply because they don't have a wealth of documentation about them.

Other Pirates / Street Neo Fighter II - The World Warrior

Hmm, I don't know a lot about the MSX and was unaware of this, but I'm thinking this was more of a homebrew fan project. I may be completely off base but that's the impression I get from the screenshots.

The original link for the ROM set has went dead, could someone please mirror the zip on another site?

Thanks for all the information. Updated list to reflect confirmed stuff.

I had no idea Glorysun was responsible for so much of this.

If any of these have been discussed already, forgive my ignorance. I'm just cutting and pasting a lists from a few forums and other places, along with some possible answers. I have seen nothing, not even a screenshot, of these listed.

Basically looking for any information about these hacks; are they dumped, does anyone own or have played them, are they anything beyond a simple title screen hack, etc. Anything that is confirmed I'll update the list as time progresses. Maybe some of these needed to be added on the Wiki undumped list?

That's... insane. Not necessarily what this guy managed to do (which is very interesting in itself), but the setup of the whole system. I never really paid any attention to the Onestation, and to learn that the NOAC is actually found in each individual cartridge is pretty messed up. How on Earth is that an effective cost cutting measure?

I came across a picture of the box of a SNES hack called Titanic, it's apparently a hack of S.O.S. with references to the Titanic movie.

Has it been dumped, or is any other information about it available?

@ Barver; I've got a couple ancient copiers.

King of Fighters 2000 for MD, which is just a title screen hack of '98

Unlicensed-wise, all I currently have is:

The King of Fighters 2000 - SNES
Super Mario World 64 - Mega Drive

I have the hardware to dump (most) Genesis / Mega Drive and Super Nintendo / Super Famicom stuff (depending on the copy protection) and Gameboy Advance.

Cheetahmen: What is The King of Fighters '99? Just a title screen hack of the older KoF ('96?) or something original?

Barver: What the hell is Thunderbolt 2?

Not sure if it's already been done, but here is a my working dump of Soul Blade Super for Mega Drive. Works fine in both emulators and real hardware.

And here's a dump of Lord of the Rings for Mega Drive.

At the risk of this spiraling out into an e-penis contest, I'd like to have a thread available for people to list the particular carts they own that are currently undumped or not available publicly. I know there's a lot of games I'd like to have more information about that barely exist beyond a blurry auction photo or a foreign language forum post.

Perhaps those that have the equipment to dump could also post and offer their services. Even if you weren't interested in dumping your cartridge you could provide particular game details to those that are interested.

So fess up you stingy punks... who's holding out?
