Kou Da Bao Shi - Yin

Now, I'm not sure this game has been talked about here, but I recently discovered this from a NES pack I found on Emuparadise. It seems to be a version of Pokemon Emerald, just for the Famicom. It bears a resemblance to the other Pokemon ports seen here, but if they're by the same company, I have no idea.

Anyway, some piccies.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Also, a link to the ROM if you're interested in playing it further than I did. Kou Da Bao Shi - Yin

Coincidentally, I'm already trying to help my sis to beat the real Emerald Version. :D

I guess she's gonna be amused for a while.

EDIT: Okay, not sure about the rest of PGC, but I see this crap for the first time personally. Gotta love how the player's sprite is Brendon, which suddenly turns into May during the battle! And the unfitting music, of course.

EDIT2: It also appears that a random dragon pokemon (forgot his name) is stalking you all around the tall grass until it suddenly unleashes an horde of mysterious and legendary yet underleveled crap! Sheesh, how many guys have actually bought this game?

I was quite surprised when the first thing I saw in battle was May and a Salamence, and then turned into Treecko and Zigzagoon, respectively.

Ah yeah, this has been around a while.  The previous three incarnations (Gold, Ruby, and Sapphire) were dumped recently at Kamming's Blog (I think?)  Sapphire has Brandon's back sprites at the start of a fight and some other small consistencies, but it's otherwise the same.

Oh, and despite the really simplistic engine, it's much more fun than most unlicensed RPGs, including the Waixing Pokemon Red.  Really, that's sad.

Looks interesting! (as far as these Famicom RPGs go. ) Haven't played it myself, but I'll be sure to try it some day. :)

I'm working on beating this. I still have some progress that I made back in December.

Btw that Tszone_fc guy dumped some Jncota RPG which uses music and sound effects from Final Fantasy X-1/X-2/X-3. Sadly it works only on a VirtuaNESex build available at his YS168 account.

Are you referring to these here?[/quote]Yeah, those are the ones!  I also remember Sky League's selling the ruby/sapphire carts for pretty cheap as well.  I gotta admit, I kinda like this game.  It's rather campy and it's halfway playable, so it's alright in my book.  Oh, and ANOTHER version of this is their NJ006 game, which is based off of Digimon 3 Crystal but it has the same engine as this game.  Nearly got to the end in Nestopia before it gave me a CPU Jam error at the beginning of the last swamp dungeon.  Grr...

Beating it with one monster is actually very easy to do.  The game calculates damage in a very primitive way so it's a matter of just being high enough in level compared to the enemy to just one-shot it.

There's critical hits in that game?  I never encountered such a thing in the game...
