Don't get too excited for hilarious translations. If there was one thing Good Life was good at, it was translating their games. They had by far the best English translations of any Bootleg GBC company (that I have seen).

Pokemon Stadium has some unusual copy protection. I a while ago sent a multicart with the English versions of it and Monster Dragon Tactics Card over to Taizou, and he sent them right back and said he would try to crack it. I think dzd mentioned that he has been trying to figure out how to make the Chinese version work on emulator

Off the top of my head IDs with the formats "JPK-NNN" and "PT-NNN" have the most in the way of cool undumped stuff (Good Life games). Carts with IDs "UANNNNN" and "CYNNNNN" have Makon games, so they may hold an undumped Makon game. UK-H3201 has an undumped title hack of Primal Rage. I also have a couple carts with an undumped sprite hack of a Sanrio-themed puzzle game. The hack is called "Kureyon Shin-Chan 6". Unfortunately my carts with KSC 6 do not have ID numbers.

To stay on topic, I'll leave some links to Good Life multis being sold on Ruten

*Note: For the ID numbers, replace the Ns with numbers.
*Note: Most multicart menus for Gameboy are undumped, but I do not think that is what you are interested in.

Oh. But if thats so then moban doesn't have permission to use Microsoft's OS name either.
I say this because there exists an app that is similar to moban Windows in the Play Store called "WinDroid". It references it, yet it isn't named directly. Like these two characters I made up right now: Malío and Liugu. Clearly based off the real Mario Bros.

Also I wonder if moban Windows got official approvement? Because if it did it wouldn't be shared in their official website as an apk file.

Moban's program does infringe on copyrights, but it is not a game, and was released for a platform that does not have the same sort of licensing requirements as the game consoles we normally talk about here. I agree with you that it is sort of a bootleg, but if we were to include it in the same definition we normally use, then we would also have to consider countless fan games and random programs on the internet as "Bootleg Games" just because they stole an asset here and there

Question: do modern console games really count as bootlegs? You said it's for Switch... If that's the case, then maybe we should include the chinese Windows launcher for Android made by moban...

Based on the Contents/Articles page for the Wiki, stuff that is released for things that don't have much in the way of licensing are excluded from the Wiki. So, I would say that it is not about how old a bootleg is, but rather how it is released. (Assuming that we use the same definition of bootleg on the forums as the one used on the Wiki)
By that logic, Cooking Mama Cookstar would have a much better case for being a bootleg than moban's Windows launcher. If we are going off of Wiki definitions then I don't think Cooking Mama Cookstar counts either though. We tend to only count games that were released without permission from the console manufacturer to launch. Cookstar did not have licensing issues with Nintendo, just the rights holders to the Cooking Mama series. I would say that it falls more in line with stuff like the earliest releases of the Revenge of the Shinobi. It uses copyrighted material without the permission of its owner, but it did get the ok from Nintendo

Pirate Talk / Games of Unknown Origin
« on: April 23, 2020, 07:57:28 PM »
Recently I have been wondering where the "Emo Demo" game by Sintax came from. I know it is a demo for their Castlevania clone, but I don't remember ever seeing any demo carts for any Bootleg/Unlicensed games. That got me thinking that a thread for asking where some of these old pirate game ROMs came from could be a fun idea. I decided to put this in Pirate talk since there are probably a lot of games that people do not know the origin of for consoles that are not Gameboys.

Note: Yes, I am aware that Taizou once mentioned that the demo likely was made to show off to potential business partners. I am just using it as an example because much of its origin is still pretty mysterious (like whether or not a cart of it exists, what the cart looks like if it does exist, and whether or not more Sintax demo games exist)

I found a copy of the New Game Color Advance version of Digimon Saphire (same misspelling as their version of Pocket Monster Saphire) on eBay. The game does not seem to have a custom logo, but sadly the ROM does not work in any of my emulators. You can however look at some of the game's graphics by using stuff like YYCHR. PM me if you'd like the non-working ROM, just try not to spread it around (not that there is a functional ROM available to confuse it with)

I already have Engrish Fire Red, and since my friends don't seem interested in it, I think I'll mention that it is available here. Have fun with that, and please leave a post if you do buy it, that way I'll know to take this down

Note: The seller did not leave any gameplay screenshots, but this matches my cart so it should be in Engrish. Buy at your own risk though, sometimes stuff gets the wrong sticker, or winds up not working

Also, if you live in the UK, here is the box

I just got some stuff in from an eBay auction. The Good Life card game, and a few other Gameboy games, with the misspelling "Geam Byo Color". It also came with a Chinese copy of the first Last Bible game. Oddly, it does not seem to work on my GBA, but works fine on my other systems. Also, despite what the box says, this game is monochrome. Like a lot of these old translations, it cuts out the ability to name your characters. I'll include an IPS patch for it.

Game Boy / Oneself Play BBD Carts
« on: March 28, 2020, 08:26:18 PM »
I got a cartridge for the English version of "Digimon 2001" by "BBD" not too long ago and saw that the label says "by oneself play". I did a little digging and saw that someone was selling what appears to be "Mark of the Wolves" by "BBD" with the same "by oneself play" sign. It was a bit harder to tell on that one though, since the seller took the picture with really bad resolution. When I load "Digimon 2001" it boots with a "BBD" logo and the cart looks like it predates any dump of the game, so I think that these "oneself play" guys must have had some sort of contact with "BBD" (oneself play is probably just an alias for "BBD"). I was wondering if anyone else here has seen carts with this same sign. So far I have only seen "BBD" games with it, but it seems possible to me that these guys may have released other games in these carts. I'll include pictures of the carts I mentioned previously.

Pirate Talk / Re: Remaining mysteries in bootleg gaming - share yours!
« on: March 27, 2020, 06:34:41 PM »
Some of my favorite mysteries are: What is Gowin game GS-14, are the rumored Telefang hacks "Pokemon Sapphire" and "Digimon Data" real, did SKOB ever make that sequel to "Milky Way" that they mentioned during the ending of that game, and what games did New Game Color Advance release. Truth be told, I am very interested in learning the libraries of all sorts of bootleg Gameboy companies. Especially ones that sell English (or really any language that is not Chinese) games. I am also pretty curious on how those old Gowin games got distributed (the ones with square shaped boxes, and grey cartridges). There are also quite a few bootlegs I have seen that I was never able to buy or ID. I'll attach a couple pictures of some of those unidentified games.

I remember a very long time ago seeing a ROM hack of Primal Rage in a collection of Chinese GBC ROMs. It was called Digimon something or other. I don't think I have ever seen a standalone cartridge with it, but I finally found a multicart that actually has something similar on it. I'll include a picture of the cart, as well as a video of the game. Aside from the Primal Rage hack, the only thing of note on the cart are the Telefang-Pokemon bootlegs, and that terrible bootleg port of Megamania. Also, the cartridge seems to have a problem with loading the monochrome games, which causes them to sometimes load with really hard to see color pallets.

I am pretty sure the ROM I am thinking of it game #22 from this post by zombiekid

http://bootleg.games/BGC_Forum/index.php?topic=1033.0

This hack sort of reminds me of that old "Pokemon Perfect Silver 2002" hack, but I'd be lying if I said I had any evidence proving a relation between the two

Edit: I just noticed that Pepper-98's old blog featured a picture of this cart in the very first entry. I feel like a fool

I just saw this strange looking PC game on eBay and figured I'd mention it here. It is a Korean game, and appears to feature some Digimon knockoffs on the front of the box, and a little Pichu figurine in the case. I cannot comment on well it plays (it appears to be a platformer), but this thing has one of the nicest bootleg game boxes I have ever seen

Game Boy / Re: A Bunch of Li Cheng games ID'ed
« on: March 04, 2020, 10:36:10 PM »
The following games do not have pictures (I'll omit the CBA part of the ID to save space and time) 054, 088, 092-094, 096, 101, 104, 109, 110, 116-120, 124-127, 129, 140, 143, 151, 162-163, 165-166, 168-170, 173. The seller gives a name for CBA101, but the rest of the ones without pictures have no names given. If I find pictures of these, I'll post them here
I hope this helps anyone who is curious as to what these games are

Game Boy / A Bunch of Li Cheng games ID'ed
« on: March 02, 2020, 06:01:40 PM »
I recently found a Taobao listing that had a ton of unidentified Li Cheng games (almost all of them with IDs between CBA001 to CBA174), with screenshots of what the games are. Some of the games they show off are pretty neat. One that made me especially intrigued was "Rockman DX8" which according to the Pirated Games Museum page is supposed to be Sintax's Zook Hero 3. It isn't. It is Zook Hero Z (the first one). The picture of Zook Z shows English text. They also appear to have a Pokemon game with edited sprites for all the Pokemon, and a few re-releases of Gowin games. The seller also has some listings for Li Cheng's Mega Drive games, but I do not really play Mega Drive much. I'll attach a pdf copy of the listing, since I know these sorts of things tend to go down over time.

Note: I used Microsoft print to pdf, which messed up the how the pdf looks. You can still see some of the games on it (a few were cut off).
