2000-present / Weird Famicom handhelds - worth buying?
« on: March 03, 2015, 04:48:59 PM »
I have a minor obsession with pirate handhelds, and I own all of those lol.
The PSP, as you already guessed, plays NES and GB perfectly fine, but does struggle a bit with Mega Drive and SNES.
Mega Drive plays smoothly enough, but the sound is terrible.

Here's mine.

I also have a slightly different version in white. For what they cost, they are really good if you accept that they can only really be used for NES and GB.

Famicom/NES / Street Fighter II on Famicom

So the multicart makers stole a bootleg, removed the title screen and renamed it to 'Master Fighter II'.
Subtle lol.

Yeah. You get a shot of the guys in front of the building, then it scrolls up the building. Pressing start takes you to the character select screen.
Maybe I'll let it scroll all the way up and see, but surely pressing start should just skip the intro and go to the title screen if there is one.

Other Pirates / Weird PC Engine Shuttle Clone

That's a nice find. PC Engine clones are not something I've seen before.
I did find this on google, it's in french, but all I could find about it.

Best I could do was taking a photo of the TV. Had to try a few clones before I found one that would play it without corrupting. But here they are....

As you can see the menu lists it as "Master Fighter", and the game has no title screen as such.

I'll play it later and try to get a screenshot of whats on it. If my Retron5 doesn't like it I'll set up one of my many Famiclones :)
The reason I find it so curious is it doesn't seem to be the usual cheap blob of resin on a PCB. The case is missing a clip so I can open it easily, and it's all proper chips inside.
Here's a quick pic of it's guts.

Why they are making this? Like picking modern games, and then ''porting'' to mega drive?[/quote]I guess they use names of modern games to attract people. Basically they just rehash an old game but attempt to make it look more modern and up to date. I've seen games for the Mega Drive like Gran Turismo 5, Lego Batman, LOTR, Angry Birds etc etc.
They are usually just old games slightly altered and packaged to attract attention.

I'm tempted to buy a copy. If only because it's a rebadged Time Trax.

I can't even remember where I picked this up. Car boot sale I think. Just thought it was worth sharing as I've never seen SF2 ported to Fami before.
Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks for the welcomes.  :thumb:

TALUIGI, it's a modern clone, shaped like the atgames mega drive/genesis, and branded as Mario.
I don't have any pics of my own to share but I'll link eBay, they're still for sale, In fact this guy sells many different Famicom and MD clones and games.

eBay link

It's not a bad little clone. I just stumbled upon one day and had to have one  :)

Hello all, new member here, call me Zapp. (Big Futurama fan).

Found you guys while searching for info on a pirate system I just bought on eBay from Russia. (It's a Dendy branded Famiclone in case you're wondering :)
I've had a minor obsession with pirate systems, multi carts and pop station handhelds for many years, and I have a reasonable collection.
I'll show them off sometime if that's the done thing around here.

Looking forward to taking part in some discussions with fellow pirate enthusiasts.
