Game Boy / Gowin ROMs
« on: July 28, 2017, 08:42:36 PM »
Recently I have been looking for Gowin ROMs and I was wondering if anyone here would know where to find them.

What I have found: On hhug there is Fire Dragon, Magic Ball, Story of Lasama, Lost Trips, Rainbow Prince, and Prince Yeh Rude. On EmuRussia there is Final Robot, Amazing Robot, and Journey to the West. Finally this directory has Crouching Tiger, and Stone Age.

Please be careful if you visit these sites, I did not check these websites for viruses (the directory is the one that worries me).

I did not check very thoroughly, it just appeared to be your dump when I opened what I got in notepad, and your dump in notepad. I just took a quick glance though.

Game Boy / The GBC Takara Engine Multiplayer
« on: July 25, 2017, 05:18:05 PM »
I have been able to fight multiple matches between the two without soft resetting. Characters however have different moves for the same inputs between games, so you can win on one screen gameboy, but not the other. This will stall the gameboy that won and will have the other have a CPU controlled enemy in place of the victor. If the same outcome occurs on both (if the same player wins on both game boys) then another match can occur, even if one gameboy's match ends before the other's.

Game Boy / The GBC Takara Engine Multiplayer
« on: July 23, 2017, 08:36:35 PM »
I hooked up a copy of KOF 97 (with the GYY Unlock Team intro), and a copy of Soul Falchion, which appeared to be using the multicart ROM on hhug. Surprisingly the games were compatible, and I was able to enter multiplayer. If anyone here has other Takara Engine games, and the equipment to play multiplayer I'd like to know if this works with all the Vast Fame games.

On ebay I saw a listing for Soul Falchion for $6 and free shipping from Hong Kong. The seller only showed a holographic sticker which had me curious so I grabbed the second
last one he had. To say the least, it came in this underwhelming looking cart, and used the ROM from the hhug multicart rip of the game.

Game Boy / Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back
« on: May 26, 2017, 11:10:32 AM »
Makon Soft games do not run properly on emulators (either due to their shabby programming, or some kind of copy protection). Li Cheng sometimes patches up other companies' bootlegs and slightly alters them to resell. Unfortunately Li Cheng only translates Chinese ROMs as that is their country of origin. I think Pokemon Adventure is the only Makon Soft game that has a ROM available that actually is just a fixed version of the original version and not just a Li Cheng hack, but I am pretty sure that the people who dumped that ROM did not dump Mewtwo.

(The one on hhug.me is from the Li Cheng Extravaganza part 4, by Taizou).

Game Boy / Cracking Zook Z Passwords
« on: May 15, 2017, 09:49:40 PM »
In zook z (or zook hero z) on the password screen, some squares can be filled in to represent numbers. In the top left two squares this number represents h-tanks. The very top left most squares adds by multiples of four to the h-tank count, a blank square adds nothing, a yellow armor adds four, red shoes adds eight, and a blue helmet adds 12. The square to the right of the top left square adds by multiples of one, with a blank square adding nothing, a yellow armor adding one, red shoes adding two, and a blue helmet adding three. Having more than nine h-tanks will make the game use glitchy symbols. The top right most cell adds to s-tanks by multiples of one, the cell to the left of the top right cell adds to s-tanks by multiples of four (the symbols are the same for h-tanks). The lowest cells in the middle alter lives, the third cell from the left at the bottom adds to lives by multiples of four, and the fourth cell from the left at the bottom adds to lives by multiples of one. Therefore it is possible to have fifteen lives, s-tanks, and h-tanks.

Armor is manipulated by the two rightmost squares that are three rows down. On the third row down on the fifth column, red shoes gives the leg armor, and a blue helmet gives the leg upgrade and the leg armor. If a piece of yellow armor is placed in the third row on the sixth column, and red shoes is placed in the third row on the fifth column then the player will get the helmet armor and leg armor.

Game Boy / 369 in 1 GBA Cart
« on: April 30, 2017, 02:18:18 PM »
On my cartridge only the first few games work (About 15 of the 369), but one of them is a pocketnes game. The majority of the other games sound like they should be pocketnes, but they do not load.

The cartridge in the center is the one with the good life games.

The card game is in English, I forgot which rom I uploaded for stadium. I would rather just hold onto the cart though.

And here is the broken Pokemon Stadium ROM (The other ROM, POKECARD_Stadium, as its header called it, was just barely too big to compress into a zip and still be under the 200kb limit)

Game Boy / GBC POKEMON ESMERALDA SPANISH
« on: April 06, 2017, 03:46:14 PM »
That is Pokemon Jade by Yong Yong. Whenever I see a bootleg game with jade in the name I find that it often will have the word jade replaced with emerald if it is in another language. For an example: if you translate the Chinese name for Pokemon Jade (the telefang hack) into English, it will be called pokemon emerald.

Game Boy / Good Life Multicarts
« on: February 14, 2017, 05:53:28 PM »
Recently I acquired a multicart titled Super 40 in 1. When I loaded it I noticed it had the same menu as the Super 25 in 1 that has the Good Life Pokemon Stadium game. The 40 in 1 had both the card game and pokemon stadium. After switching between games quickly I noticed that if the game system is shut off and then turned back on quickly that the cart
will load as the previous game loaded. This also worked when I tried it on the Super 25 in 1. I tried to see if i could extract the ROMs for the Good Life games with this and a Benn Venn device, but got no usable ROMs. However the device appeared to recognize the headers for the Good Life games, but I could not repeat these results with any of the other games on the carts. I used a Gameboy Pocket when testing the carts.

I just got a lot from Hong Kong. One of the multicarts had both good life games in English, other than that there was nothing worth noting.

Game Boy / Bypassing Other Custom Logos
« on: January 06, 2017, 06:59:18 PM »
I remember a while back there was a post that explained how to run Binary Monster 3 on the gba sp, as well as a different post on Famicom World describing other Gowin games running on the gba sp through the usage of a device called the gb sacker. Recently I found that the Sorcerer Card by Touch Boy, and 4 in 1 4B-006 by Sachen could be played on a gba sp by inserting them into an InterAct Mega Memory Card, having the Mega Memory Card load its main menu, and then moving the switch on the Mega Memory Card to cause it to load the game plugged in. This also worked on my Gameboy Pocket when it would always load the Nintendo logo as being cut off in the bottom right corner when I tried to use the Sorcerer Card. This did not work for the 4B-001, and 4B-004 Sachen carts, both of which have the custom logo that says Commin.
