Title: What multicart is this?
Post by: goku8800 on June 06, 2017, 09:16:06 AM
So, I'm still on the quest for the Power Player, and I'm just trying to figure out what multicart it runs. It's, of course, the Digimon Aventure 128 in 1 cart, but like, what does the cart REALLY look like?

I think it's running an unique multicart. BTW, i had the power player for about a week, never saw it again after that.

Yeah a friend of mine lent it to me and it disappeared not long after i gave it back. There were some interesting stuff on it though. I remember playing Brush Roller on it, alway crashed after the first stage. Also remember playing Joust with my friend. The second controller looked like a ps1 controller, but with snes buttons. Had an Atari/Sega like connector and there was a cartridge slot on top of player one's Dreamcast style controller. Also had a working "analog stick"

BTW, feel free to ask me any questions about this console/multicart. I pretty sure some of the stuff i remember may help you out.

Most important one: Is there a ROM of this? I've been looking for one.

Others: Was this made by the same people who made the 64-in-1?

I don't know if there's a rom of this. I pretty sure it's not dumped yet, but i'll try to find some info. I'll also ask my friend since i have a dungeon and dragons game at his place tonight. He doesn't know a thing about bootlegs, but i can confirm he had the power player you're looking for. Maybe he found it. If it's the case, we'll try to find someone who can dump it.
Btw, if you want the real thing, it looks like this:

Thanks! And I remember what it looks like. I had it as a kid.

I have good news: friend still has it and is willing to give it to me for free. Should pick it up in about 2 weeks.

Alright! Thanks man!
I got this thing from a mall in 2005. Years later...it got lost.

Hey, do you know when this thing was made? My guess is inbetween 2003-2005.

You are probably right. In the early 2000s plug and play console were very popular. It's no suprise everybody wanted to make a quick buck out of this trend. Also, i rembember seeing those thing at St-Eustache Flea Market around that time. A kiosk even had the "Fun Time" one on display at the entrance so you could play it!

Same, son! I remember playing Mario on one of them back in '05.
Also I wish there was some sort of option where replies on a thread can be email to the user. It'd make it much faster.

No. It's a mall called Franklin Mills (now called Philadelphia Mills). I bought it from there and now it's gone. BTW how's the ROM coming?

Didn't pick it up yet, nobody posted a date for the next meeting. I asked them yesterday, and one of the guys has the Power Player. I'll try to get it before weekend, because i have to go to saguenay lac-st-jean on saturday. Once i get it, i will try to find someone to dump it. Any common nes emulator should be able to run it, since it doesn't seem to use any enhancements.

Alright, cool. I DID find someone who had this as a standalone cart. There's no ROM of that either, but I'll link the article if you want.

I'm wondering if it's the same people because the title screen is similar to Y2K 64-in-1 cart.

It has the same sprites for Buzz Lightyear and Pikachu. The difference is that the Digimon version has TERRIBLE coloring (and Pikachu's arms look like noodles.)
