Well I suppose they probably added it in to all the games, even the ones without rumble carts. I'm guessing they were just lazy and never got rid of the code.

I got two Mega Drive carts earlier; Thunderbolt II and a 2 in 1 with Sonic Spinball and Rocket Knight Adventures. ;)

Spoiler: click to toggle

Mo Jie Qi Bing: A Pocky & Rocky clone by Vast Fame.  There's an entry at the Bootleggames Wiki that explains it better than me.  Doesn't seem to reuse any music, interestingly.

Jue Zhan San Guo: A strategy RPG most definitely by Vast Fame (shares the same sound engine and sound effects as Digimon Rury/Sapphire).  Based off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms of course, and has a slightly different engine from their GBC SRPGs.  Quite good though.

Zook Hero Z: It's the Chinese version, but not only does it have copyrights intact but it's also a generic!  It boots with a plain "Nintendo" logo and the board's half-sized, so I'm hoping this will be an easy version to dump.

Shui Hu Shen Shou: An unaltered Chinese release of the game.  Boots with "V.Fame" and everything.

...Is there any chance you could record video footage of the two GBA games? I'm very curious to see (and hear!) them.

Went to a car-boot sale, and found a multicart for Game Boy! Paid £4 for it. Bit of a rip-off TBH.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Games are:
1 Tarzan
2 Super Mario 4
4 Crazy Castle (Bugs Bunny)
5 Dr. Mario
6 World Bowling
7 Flipull
8 Flappy
(rest are repeats)

More video footage of Terrifying 911 (a.k.a., Hitek's September 11-themed Metal Slug bootleg), by the same Portuguese guy who reviewed it on YouTube previously:

Intro sequence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMoYhZlQx3U
Level 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duXk-vhjgOs
Level 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9yVWjAkX_c

This time around, you can hear the music! Seems to be entirely original, though from the sound effects, it does sound like they used the sound engine from one of the Zelda games.

I have this one:

it's a strategy RPG, seems pretty decent from what I've played of it.
oh yeah and it has a company name on the back, "帛昂有限公司". whether that's Hitek or their publisher I have no idea.
It also boots up with a "GK.RX" logo, no idea what that means. programmer initials?
oh yeah and the Hitek logo screen has a Chinese trademark number on it:
http://www.tmsoon.org/searchdetial.aspx?ID=1466464&REGNO=1519916
(despite the address on the box being in Taiwan) (and that despite this copy being bought from mainland China)
the trademark is registered to a Chinese company called 东莞市高科电脑学习机有限公司. ("高科" can be translated as "Hi-tech", kinda makes sense.. oh and in pinyin it's "Gao Ke" which would explain the "GK" part)

if you search here you can find some stuff they registered copyright on - a lot of it sounds like educational software, but there is some "Fighter 2000" game in there too. but they seemingly didnt register anything later than 2000, and I can say for sure that at least one of their games was released after September 2001.. naturally you can't cash in on the deaths of thousands until after it's happened.

Interesting that that box has the same "compatible with NEW GAME" burst that's typically found on VFame's boxes... particularly given that this is yet another company that's used PC Paint fonts in their games.

Yeah. Maybe we have Gamtec to thank for that...

Dunno why, but I have suspicions that Hitek is just a brand name of Gametec. :\

Dunno why, but I have suspicions that Hitek is just a brand name of Gametec. :\[/quote]Well, a lot of companies share some connection with Gamtec, whether it's staffers or resources.  Vast Fame and Sintax have some connection with Gamtec in those senses, I believe.  I don't think it's actually them per se, but there's certainly a connection.

Anyways, I got a package with these games today:

Super Fighter Alpha 2001 by Vast Fame and a complete copy of KOF R2, published by SKOB.  Haven't gotten my hands on a complete copy of Super Fighter Alpha yet, but hopefully I'll find another on Ruten or something.  Also getting some Famicom Sachen stuff, as I'm getting back into collecting their stuff (or at least whatever I can find at a decent price.  I've nearly given up on the NES releases due to their over-inflated price.  <_< )

Edit: Forgot to mention - Super Fighter boots with "V.FAME" and KOF R2 boots with "S-GBC".  Also the title logo is in English and has "SKOB" in basic text at the bottom-left corner of the screen, if that's relevant any.

And the hunt for Sachen games starts anew.  To start off, I got my hands on a boxed Famicom copy of Poker 2 and two loose carts: Millionaire and Mahjong Trap.  Mahjong Trap, like their other non-Sachen reprints, advertise Joy Van's other titles on the back of the cart.  The cart itself is a typical black Famicom case rather than a special custom one.

Hey, so that's the JoyVan version of Mahjong Trap?
Would you trade it for the Sachen version? My JV MT box needs a JV cart not a Sachen version :(
