I found a video on youtube with a guy playing a megadrive game called Kirby Super Star. It's a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog, but with Kirby. I think the description said the hack was made by Darkon. Could that be the Kirby Super Star bootleg i heard about on this forum? I don't think so, but we never know. Honestly, it looks more like a fan hack.
Here's the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQJ3RzGxyok)

Hmm ... And if that is not the hacker that created the metal sonic hyperdrive?
In addition a similar nickname and hack it is also possible to play for Kirby)))

While it is likely that this is not the real deal, there were instances of bootleg versions of fan hacks, like Sonic Megamix (As seen on BootlegGames Wiki).
Nevermind, i just noticed that he's running the game from an Everdrive cart. It's not the real one. Case closed.

I first read about a Kirby's Super Star pirate for MD back in like 2000 or so. Way before Sonic ROM hacks were made. If it does exist (I'm seriously doubting it does at this point), it's going to be something the pirates programmed themselves I would think, i.e. not a simple sprite hack of a Sonic game.

Or maybe it is lost, like TEG's Sonic 2 (the Sparkster hack)?

This seems homebrew?

It's already established that it's neither of those. Those are indeed homebrew.
