Game Boy dumps / Re: [ROM Request] Vast Fame's Fighter Series

Thanks! Do you have the other games mentioned in this thread btw? Mediafire link is down.
Someone else already posted them directly to the thread. You could also go to hhug.me if you want the unmodified ROMs with the copy protection, but you'll need a special emulator to run those

Updated my collection of bootleg fighting games once again to include the rev2 versions + Dragon Ball: Final Bout (which appears to be a hack of one of the KOF bootlegs). Also just added the "School Fighter" game and its IPS patch to remove the Anti-Piracy stuff.

Still looking for solo-RIPS of Hummer Team's mascot fighting games that appeared on ZDog(?) I think, and a few other multicarts.

Found this thread after watching the video coverage from St1ka on Youtube. Any chance there's a place to find these nowadays?

I have them saved. Just a heads up: these are deprotection hacks of these games, I cannot guarantee they will play 100% identical to an actual cart. There are multiple versions of the Binary Monster 3 School Fighter deprotection hack floating around, and I do not remember which one this is. I remember hearing reports of it having issues with the password system that don't happen on cart. As for Final Bout, some of the graphics get messed up depending on what emulator you use. It seems to look most correct on VBA in my experience

I do not regularly collect Game Gear games, so I might not be the best to give advice on this. On the website skywaypro they have a copy for that listed at 98 dollars. I have bought from this site and can confirm it is legit, but their prices sometimes wind up a bit on the high end, so if you decide to match their price you might have difficulty selling

I don't suppose you've ever heard of "Pocket Monster Pedigree Cards"
Note: Picture not mine, I just nabbed it off google images

Nice! I remember hearing about that auction being found in the discord. I'm glad to hear you were able to get it

Three more today. SL-006 is the SL version of the Three Kingdoms RPG by Vast Fame. It uses SL copy protection, so adjust your emulator settings for that if you want to run it. It seems unchanged on the surface, but it has a different boot logo than normal. The other two are language variants of already dumped Sintax games. Ice Age II is a Klonoa clone, and Pokemon Ruby is an SRPG

A company with an unknown name (often called NGCA because they sold English-language releases of Vast Fame games with the text "New Game Color Advance" on the box) sold a massive number of games and also put black stamps on their PCBs, so it's probably them

I'm not sure. I have a cart with a similar look with a UK ID, so I think it has to do with where these were sold, but I don't think these normally pop up in the wild in the USA

Oh. Taizou (the person who runs hhug.me) posted how the ID system works for UC multis in the discord. So your multi's ID is "UC-100M01".

The 100 refers to the claimed game count. The M refers to the ROM size (so any multi of theirs with an M after the game count is going to be quite big) and the 01 after the M refers to this multi's number in relation to the others that were released. So it is the first 100 in 1 multi with this ROM size the company made

I dumped the ROM for it off of one of my multicarts and posted it to my ROMs thread. In my experience it appears on Ka Sheng and JY multicarts. I've never seen an equivalent version for Silver though, though there are other translations for the generation 2 pokemon games

I found this one on a Game USA Color Advance cartidge that I got bundled with my GBA a few years ago.
I made a wiki page for it as well because I couldn't find anything about these multicarts on the internet...
https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/100_in_1_Game_USA_Color_Advance

That is a sort of well known manufacturer, but they are not Ka Sheng or JY. If I remember right you could sort of tell how much stuff was on these by the ID  code since a lot of these lie about their game count, though I don't remember exactly how the trick worked

This is quite interesting. This is Japanese version of Pokemon Gold, not the US/European version BTW.

Oh, so this might be a pre-release translation by whoever pirated this. Was this even a thing back then? - to translate a game for a different region where it hasn't officially been released yet to better sell ones pirated work? Thanks for the info though!

Yes, that was a practice. It happened with quite a few Pokemon titles. I've seen it with Pokemon Green, Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Fire Red, Pokemon Sapphire, and Pokemon Emerald. There were also fan translations people tried to squeeze out before the official one, and some of those wound up on pirate carts as well
