It's a Taiwanese release, nothing official. The NES one you pretty much would have to assume is related I'd think =p
I just sold a boxed copy of this on eBay a couple weeks back. There's one release that has Japanese text, and then the one you see in that auction, which has a box with Chinese. Never have been clear if it was released in Japan, but the JP version makes it feel official. It's definitely an unlicensed game, though.[/quote]nah I'm pretty sure it wasn't released in Japan - the Japanese text was stolen from some other game. they probably just used it to make it look Japanese and therefore more "legit"
the seller also has this:

which I've never even heard of before.

Wow, yeah it does. The Gamtec logo is even on the top of the cart. I'd love to check these games out if they weren't so expensive. Thanks for all the info.
You might be able to find a copy on Ruten if you're lucky. ;)
yeah, problem is I don't know where I'd even start, it doesn't have a Chinese title. At least searching for "MD 坦克" (tank) doesnt turn up anything interesting.
It might not pop up on there that often. You'd have to keep watch on Ruten and Yahoo Taiwan for a while and see if it does.
This was dumped a few months ago from Parodius Duh!'s cart but not distributed since the ROM had copy protection.
If you're reading this and still have it, send it to me if you are still interested in throwing it out in the wild.

Sorry, I should have clarified, I was talking about Thunderbolt 2.
I have a copy of the Mega Drive Thunderbolt II and it has a different box as well, with Japanese text. Also have a boxed copy of the Famicom game, and that box has Japanese text on the back as well.
Cool stuff. Thanks for the responses, I'll keep an eye out for both games, and probably do some footage of them if ever get ahold of them. Sorry for the delayed response.
Also from the same seller, some sort of Mega Drive poker game (http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEGA-MEGA-DRIVE-SUPER-POKER-CHINESE-EXCLUSIVE-UNDUMPED-/111067243249?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item19dc1fa2f1) which is clearly designed by Chuanpu's art team.
Hey yeah, the top-left charcter in the character select screen looks like someone from one of their RPGs (I think Story of Arthur's protagonist.)
@Azathoth, I no longer have the file and sold my physical copy a while ago. Try contacting one of the Nolan brothers as they were the ones who dumped it for me. If you can get it out there than by all means do so. Its a fantastic shooter.....It was produced by Gamtec and sold under the Super Chip brand name. A lot of the graphics are stolen from the Megadrive games Darwin 4081 and Dangerous Seed.
Dumped & available!

awesome!
Another pirate goes to my backlog. :P
Finally everyone can enjoy this great shooter! One of my favorite pirate titles, EVAR!
Was the rom that was dumped and playable from my dump? or did someone else get theres working?
What the heck is the deal with the mega drive collectors recently? I have consistently seen these Taiwanese games sell in the hundreds on ebay recently, some of the rpg's and stuff for like $400+
I'd guess just Ebay in general. Hell, I've seen several other games jump up in price and I can't seem to figure out why exactly. You're better off going on Taiwanese sites and praying for the best.

You can find some completed auctions on eBay. First time I've seen Thunderbolt II it complete with manual. They sure as hell never sold, though. Just some idiot putting stuff up at a high price thinking someone will eventually bite. Especially with this one dumped now, the interest in it is at an all time low. Most CIB MD pirates I see on eBay don't even seem to break the $30 mark that often now.
Did anyone manage to download the ROM? The Filetrip link is giving me an error 404 now.
Edit: Never mind - the unpatched ROM link is still working, and I was able to patch it myself with a hex editor.
To absolutely nobody's surprise at all, Gamtec's logo is buried in the ROM at 0x192B0.
Completed this game a while ago. 8 levels. Though the 7th boss is almost unfair without having your weapons at LV03.
