Ending to be achieved for those new dumps soon. And possibly playthroughs of them.

It's the Wii version I'm talking. I tried a version that allows you to create tool-assisted superplays, but the rom doesn't work on that either, giving me the error "Board type not supported". The least I could do is look into its tiles and saw what appears to be Kid Niki or something.[/quote]Tool-assisted superplay? In fact, it's called Tool-Assisted Speedrun (also known as TAS). And the only emulator that supports that feature is FCEUX. If you want to download it, the latest version for now is 2.1.5.

Tool-assisted speedruns and legit speedruns are totally different. The latter shows the player's abilities to beat a game as fast as possible, and the former is just for the viewer's entertainment. I think those people who say negative things about TAS playthroughs don't bother to read the full description, because they think that both things are the same. Or they can read it, but they're against emulation.

I'm almost certain that Underground Mission (on the Power Joy Navigator) is Inventor's work. Despite not using the famous sampled bass, it still sounds very...Sunsoft-y.

Edit: Yep! The PPU has a hidden logo for Shanghai Paradise, which we've already confirmed to be a sister company of Inventor's.

Yeah, I always suspected that one might be Inventor's. that badly digitised title screen image just has Inventor all over it. Alienis is definitely theirs, I think Power Boat on the 60 in 1 might be too.

All their original games seem to have that Shanghai Paradise logo hidden in them, no matter how much they've been hacked up, converted to VT03 or otherwise messed around with by various other companies.. I wonder how many were actually released on cart with the logo intact and still displayed? The only one I've ever seen was a Super Hang-On '97 on the (now defunct) Famicom no Tobira, the dumped version has it mostly removed AFAIK.

Underground Mission seems to be unfinished - in level 10 there's an item stuck in the wall meaning you can't complete the level. If you cheat and collect it anyway, there are 6 (I think) more levels after it, all mostly functional but exhibiting varying degrees of brokenness. Strangely enough it does have a fully working ending screen though:

oh yeah, and the Chinese on the level intro screen reads 地道战, Di Dao Zhan. Presumably this was (or would have been) the Chinese name of the game - Waixing released something with the same name but it's completely different.
and on the subject of Inventor games, Power Boat has no apparent ending, it just loops back to stage 1.

I've ripped out the Sachen-y games (Jungle Adventure, Magic Block and Lair's Secret) from the D-cat if anyone's interested, plus Sky Zone from the Games Xplosion and some other random crap:

edit: Sanguo Chunqiu aka Shisen Mahjong 2 aka Three Country is up there now too, its a different revision to the existing dump.

I'm still curious about one particular thing in Jungle Adventure, incidentally: the background music is totally "The Pits" from Boogerman, as (apparently) remade by an ex-Sachen developer. (Doesn't sound like the version from Rex's port, and it's definitely not Super Game's.) Does this mean that the ex-Sachen team made a Boogerman port that nobody knows about?

Edit: Hm, even weirder, it is very similar in arrangement to the version of the same tune from Rex Soft's version. (The NSF is in the 08-20-2010 pack on Gil Galad's 'news' page, for the curious.) But not quite identical-- the percussion is different in some parts. And much glitchier; it starts out with an accompaniment line out of phase entirely. Maybe a beta version by one of Rex's devs? ::shrugs:: Still doesn't explain the connection between Rex Soft and the ex-Sachen folks.

I managed to rip a few games from the Powerjoy ROMs: cool:

Underground Mission
Navigator
Finger DDR (The music doesn't work on NEStopia for some reason)
Dragon Running
Dive Man
Panda Adventure
Space Shuttle Exploration
Boxworld (I got this one from that rubbish Bei Tongfang Windows 98, but I might as well upload it here)
"Pet 4 in 1" (a hack of the Pokémon 4 in 1)

I fixed the palettes on the Inventor games, because I assume the background's supposed to be black and I used the Coolboy 4 in 1's palette swap of Panda Adventure. I did also try to make a seperate ROM of Across River, but it doesn't work for some reason. :\

Edit: One thing that I've noticed is that all of the larger games on the Supermax ROMs run on some custom mapper whereas the ones on the Navigator are MMC3. I had to hack the Pet 4 in 1 to get it to work.

Edit 2: More ROM dumps, this time from the D-Cat:

Jungle Adventure
Lair's Secret
Magic Block
Behind Enemy Lines
Coast Speed

Worth noting that Coast Speed is actually an unused game and one of the many Rad Racer hacks these sort of clones have. Also, most of the Shanghai Paradise graphics were deleted.
