Mega Drive/Genesis / Link Dragon sound fix?
« on: December 26, 2014, 02:22:08 PM »
No offense meant to the original poster, but he probably needs to use a better emulator ;)
both MESS and GenPlusGX have correct sound when using the original ROM...

simplifying the matter, MD CPU just masks out accesses beyond the end of the rom and reads back from the start of the file, so the emulator just needs to properly mirrors the rom in the CPU accesses like the real system does

Is this released through 1985Alternativo? or is this an illegal dump along the lines of the Super Fighter Team dumps?
together with the announcement of cart release they also gave out a torrent link to the ROM so that more people can enjoy the game, or at least test it before buying it

so it is 100% fine

well, my opinion is that sharing both dumps would be the best choice.

anyway, take all the time you need, of course :)

I will release the game to the public as soon as the bug preventing one of the three games
from playing right is fixed and working properly on real hardware.
would you mind expanding about this? if you have the cart, that should work already on the real hardware...
or do you mean working on a copier without the protection?

if you mean the latter, you should release the proper dump (or that + a fixed version), not only a patched version that works on copier after destroying the protection routines.
please consider releasing both dumps, in order to document what was in the real cart too :)

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Tekken Special (Unl) ROM
« on: June 10, 2013, 01:11:32 AM »
the original protected version? I was only aware of a "Tekken 3 Special" which had no protection

similarly all previous dumps that I've seen around for Wu Kong Wai Zhuan and for Feng Kuang Tao Hua Yuan / Insane Paradise came from unprotected carts or had protection hacked out, which maybe have the advantage of being playable in every emulator out there, but do a very poor job at documenting the original versions who were produced with copy protection wirings
hence, for me cah4e3's dumps are really welcome ;)

Thanks for sharing this too.

EkeEke had documented the protection in GenPlusGX and I've added support for it in MESS too :)

FWIW, the FC/dendy version has been dumped last August by Maxzhou88

pirate 'original' (i.e. not just a title/sprite hack), but nothing astonishing... I'd expect the MD version to be similar, just with better gfx

Mega Drive/Genesis / Thunderbolt 2 on Genesis?

like the NES one it was sold commercially, and there are a lot of well done unlicensed titles (even not as amny as the crappy ones).

in this case, to my knowledge it's undumped (and actually I'd like a lot to see a dump :) )

sorry, private builder ,BUG lot , stop the public , thank you
what's wrong with releasing the source code?
most of those are emulated also in Cah4e3 FCEU build, so the code is at least partially available... if you managed to improve emulation, why not to share the new findings so that other can benefit as well?

Oh, all the versions reset after first battle unless you've got HazeMD. :\
does it really work on HazeMD?
I'm on OSX so I cannot test directly, but the same exact code used by HazeMD makes the game to reset after the first match in MESS, because the game writes to the bankswitch address...

yeah, both nocash and MESS will work with these (I thought you knew about nocash, given the doc I linked above is the nocash documentation :) )
bsnes won't because byuu is not interested in unlicensed stuff
I have no idea about zsnes and snes9x position, otoh

Mega Drive/Genesis / Pokemon Stadium MD?
« on: March 17, 2013, 04:56:28 PM »
well, MESS is based on HazeMD since ~2010.

a few pirate games are missing an ID routine, so you need to use the xml software list to play them (i.e. rename the archive with the shortname expected by MESS, like you would with MAME, and put it inside the roms/ folder), but if you find anything which was working in HazeMD and is not working now in MESS, please report it because it's a bug and I'd happily try to fix it ;)

If you use HazeMD, then you can use directly the unpatched ROM ;)

oh, and for the record, the unpatched version also works on MESS and Genesis Plus GX...
