Title: About those undumped carts of yours.....
Post by: Azathoth on April 19, 2011, 02:40:22 AM
At the risk of this spiraling out into an e-penis contest, I'd like to have a thread available for people to list the particular carts they own that are currently undumped or not available publicly. I know there's a lot of games I'd like to have more information about that barely exist beyond a blurry auction photo or a foreign language forum post.

Perhaps those that have the equipment to dump could also post and offer their services. Even if you weren't interested in dumping your cartridge you could provide particular game details to those that are interested.

So fess up you stingy punks... who's holding out?

All JY multicarts except JY-120 (A)
Master Fighter VI'
15in1
Jing Ke Xin Zhuan (normal title screen without PAL D PUSH B)

bad dumps that needs to be replaced:
110in1
Tiny Toon Adventures 6 (text doesn't appear in the intro on the actual ROM)

I may have some carts that contains a different rom than the actual dump, these may be:
Contra Spirits
Kart Fighter
Street Fighter II (chinese text instead of YOKO on Chun Li stage) - I don't know for that one, there's a1 and a2 dump but I'm not able to play them. So I have no idea.

Tiny Toon Adventures 6 (text doesn't appear in the intro on the actual ROM)
Heh, I made a hack that fixed that problem. Didn't think it was noteworthy enough to put on here though.

Anyway, here are the undumped carts I own, all Famicom games:

- The General's Son (The cart shell is broken and the game itself only seems to work on Famiclones :\ )
- 3-in-1 with Harry's Legend and two TMNT games
- 1995 Super HIK 4-in-1 by JY Company (Reset based)
- 4-in-1 with cut-down version of Tekken 2
- Super 7-in-1 by JY Company which has King of Fighters '99
- 20-in-1 which is almost identical to "20-in-1 [p1][!]" except the mirroring is set to vertical for all of the games (might be a soldering problem for what I know) and it has Contra bundled with it
- 84-in-1 which is essentially the Powerjoy 84-in-1 with a few different games
- A generic 112-in-1 cart with a hack of Mario Bros.
- 190-in-1 by Supervision
- Another 190-in-1 cart with fewer games

Here's what I've got:

Genesis:

Super Mario World 64
Thunderbolt 2(I know a guy who dumped it but says it's got protection that he can't figure out)
Tiny Toon Adventures 3

SNES:

Digimon Adventures
Hercules
Pokemon Silver Version Gold Version

FC:

Zelda Link to the Past

GB:

2003 Crash Bandicoot II
Dragon Ball Z3
Final Fantasy 9
Lion King 3
Metal Gear 2
Metal Slug 1
Metal Slug 2
Gal Fighter 2000(not dumped I think)
Pocketmon Emerald
Pocket Monster Red (Fire Red)
Poketmon Pearl
Quan Ba Tian Xia
Super Sonik II
Tai Kong Bao Bei(aka Lilo & Stitch)
Wu Kong Jiang Mo Lu(gowin game, forget if it has an english name)
Zook Hero

GBA:

Ge Dou Jian Shen
Lord of the Rings(Mo Jie Qi Bing)

I'd like to dump stuff but am wary of sending any of it away. Especially with how rare a few of them are, don't want to lose them. I still plan to try a Sega CD transfer cable for the genesis games someday, just waiting till the day I have excess funds instead of a measly ~$20 at any given time =p

well lets see. excluding multicarts with only dumped games on them:
GB:
Chaoji Gedou 2001 alpha (Super Fighter 2001)
Nuwang Gedou 2000 (Gals Fighters)
Shaoling Legend: hero, the saver
Pokemon Sapphire
12 in 1 V.Fame multi with Xin Feng Shen Bang, Devil Land, Digimon Pocket, Story of Lasama and undumped alternate versions of dumped games, info here (http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Silver_Version_12-in-1)
45 in 1 multi with three English Yong Yong Digimon games - one is completely undumped, one is dumped in Chinese, the other is dumped in Chinese with different levels (or just a different level order)
19 in 1 with "Super Mario World 7" Adventure Island hack.
Pokemon Jade (at least I don't think it's dumped - the version counterpart to the Pokemon Diamond Telefang hack)
Final Fantaxy IX
(& a couple of title screen hacks: King of Fighter 2000, a hack of Super Fighter 99, and Gunstar Super Heroes 2, a hack of Sgt Rock: On the Front Line)
GBA:
Digimon Rury

videos of most of the above are on my youtube channel (http://youtube.com/neofujivideo).

i do have a GB Transferer 2 but its proved incapable of dumping any of these properly (that or emulators don't emulate them), probably because theyre copy protected or have a weird mapper or something. ): i do want to get them all dumped but i havent been able to find anyone who could do it.

apart from that I have a ton of weird famiclones and 16-bit consoles with various hacks and original games built into them, but I dunno if anyone else cares about those :D i can list them if you want though.

Unlicensed-wise, all I currently have is:

The King of Fighters 2000 - SNES
Super Mario World 64 - Mega Drive

I have the hardware to dump (most) Genesis / Mega Drive and Super Nintendo / Super Famicom stuff (depending on the copy protection) and Gameboy Advance.

Cheetahmen: What is The King of Fighters '99? Just a title screen hack of the older KoF ('96?) or something original?

Cheetahmen: What is The King of Fighters '99? Just a title screen hack of the older KoF ('96?) or something original?
It's a title screen hack of KoF '97 by Rex Soft, which is on a few multicarts that have been dumped. Just pointing out that the multi I have hasn't been dumped yet.
Oh, just realised that I have a couple of Game Boy multicarts, one of which has Pocket Monsters Stadium King of Fighters (Bronze).

I don't have anything too special, but I have an "Educational Computer 2000 48-in-1" cart, loads of GBC multicarts (which have a few undumped games on them), an n-Joypad famiclone with loads of undumped hacks and pirate originals. Apart from that, I have loads of Wii clones but they don't have emulators so dumping would be pointless.

I'd love to see ROM dumps of the N-Joypad and 106-in-1 myself. Also, I don't recall seeing Spelunker II or Starship Hector on any other multicarts myself.

Edit: Speaking of stuff I own, the 888000-in-1 and 666000-in-1 from my PVP Station Light, several multicarts (I'm due to get a 150-in-1 by Subor sometime in the near future) and the Cyber Arcade Center. Also, how come nobody's dumped JungleTac's 8-bit games yet?

Well, if I am every able to get my hands on some dumping hardware, I will dump these games - does anyone have any recommendations for raw ROM dumps (I am quite good at electronics so might make my own - something Arduino Mega2560 based maybe?)

Well if I was you, I'd have a test cart or something like that (the Educational Computer 48-in-1 you have, can't imagine that being any good :P ) just to make sure that the hardware works. I'd like to see the N-Joypad dumped, mainly so I can make fun of how badly done the hacks are. :D

Edit: Speaking of dumping, what happened to CaH4e3 anyway? He hasn't updated his site since November.

As far as I can tell, they're lightgun games made by whoever made Super Fighter III. What I don't get is that those developers were from the early 90's (I think) and those hacks near the end of the list suggest that it was made in the early 2000's.

BTW, what are Super Key Kong and A Close All supposed to be anyway?

It seems there are no good ROM dumpers out there as of speaking. Cah4e3 seems to be the only one who took requests.

A polish nes forum, called nesforum, has quite a few ROM dumpers. But YOU need to send them games or need to pay them whatever the games cost for them to buy and dump them.

Well, if you're going to go by the argument that rom dumping is for preservation and all that, then it makes sense that someone that owns a cartridge would also be willing to send theirs for dumping. You can't only expect someone who owns dumping equipment to do it all, since they don't necessarily have access to lots of rare cartridges out there.

Then again, I can't tell if you're dissing rom dumpers here or what =p

Well either way, he shouldn't be. If it wasn't for them we'd need the original carts of everything to play these games, and that'd cost a pretty penny to do so.

Incidentally, I'm planning on sending a few of my carts to be dumped at some point.
The degree of preservation is really subjective. Many cart owners want to preserve both the game itself and the media (box, manual, actual cartridge), while others value more the game itself. So, the act of dumping the ROM is most favorable to the latter.

As for dissing them, don't be ridiculous :P On the contrary, I'm praising those two in particular.

As for not having access to the rare cartridges, cah4e3 finds ways to acquire them. He can get them shipped directly over-seas, or he may also have some friends abroad who can relay the purchase to him for some $$. In whatever case, he dumped whatever I requested at his own expense; he even had to ensure that he could score a copy of Super Contra 5 before greenlighting the emulating for example.

I'm just saying the ROM dumpers over at emunes aren't ideal for those tight on cash. Plus, many of the requests they receive are for games that are available in high abundance in shops local to them and they cost a buck a piece (often being labelled as "junk"). But they nonetheless need the requester to pay for the cart, or send it to them, or a bit of both.
