Speaking of stolen graphics, Mouse Snare's title screen uses graphics from Dr. Mario, Silkworm and Tom & Jerry 3 (the Dragon Co. game, that is).

Also, sort of unrelated (although still by Nice Code) but Crazy Racing off that 8-bit Vii is actually a complete ripoff (or possibly a hack) of Astro Fang - Super Machine.

some more Dragon Co. reuse:

thats from the Overmax 151 in 1, the actual game is identical to Rabbit Village on the DreamGear

I love how the carrot is missing, which makes it look like Bugs is pretending to talk to someone on an invisible phone. :P

Where did you find that from anyway? (I'm guessing you own it, but I might as well ask)

that or he's eating his own finger :D

and yeah, I own it. i just took screenshots of all the games last night, its for something i'm planning for my site but i can upload them somewhere as well. I'll start a new thread for that though, it'd probably derail this one into massively un-dreamgear territory

Well if they're just the standard Nice Code YONG YONGe, then I don't think it'd matter all that much. Probably best if you did though.

well all but about 30 of the games are VT03, lots of them are just graphical updates of the usual stuff but some of them are decent. there are quite a few full fledged platformers and shooters and stuff. Theyre definitely getting better.

Bringing this topic back to life, I just came across a couple of videos on NicoVideo (you'll need an account there to watch them) about a plug 'n play 101-in-1 by GameJoy Japan, which seems to be the Japanese equivalent of the DreamGEAR abominations. The majority of the games appear to be the ones off the DreamGEAR 75-in-1 (in fact, the first game not on there is game 21) and even the menu looks similar. One thing I find slightly odd is that some games in the same spots that they are on the 75-in-1 (i.e. Final Blood being game 30 on both)

According to the bloke who did the video, Fish Story's music is an 8-bit rendition of Love Song something something (can't read Japanese, as you can probably tell) from Dragon Quest 2. I also find it funny that the Buzz Bombers ripoff (Intellivision game) is called IQ Champion, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with IQ tests. (I suppose you argue the same for Kurushi on the PS1, but still) Slot Machine's music is obviously stolen, haven't got a clue where from though. (I think the uploader says where it's from, but I can't read it)

What's most interesting is Hurry Burry (game 39, in case you're wondering) which looks just like that game I can't remember the name of by Cube Tech. (in fact, I'm willing to bet that they just hacked it)

Also interesting is that Shunting (game 69) is basically a rebranded version of Dragon, which is in turn a hack of Fire Dragon by Gamtec. /:) And it apparently starts on stage 24 for no reason. And did they really need two Snake ripoffs?

Edit: Just noticed that the font on Pathway's logo is identical to the one that Bomb Drop off the N-Joypad uses.

The same guy also has one for the Famikon Yarou, showing comparisons with the original games (and places where they simply forgot to hack them).

I'm fully aware of that, but you mentioned that long before the videos for the 101-in-1 were uploaded. (Incidentally, I love how one of the commenters compares the 54-in-1 to Action 52. Can't say I blame him, quite frankly) There are also videos of some of the Famicom Yarou 7-in-1s, but I think they're all just hacks of regular Famicom/NES games.

Here's the original of the Dragon Quest 2 tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhcuZq1-pdM Clearly, NiceCode's version is a vastly inferior remake, but it's definitely based on that! (Incidentally, that's "Love Song Sagashıte", which I've spelled without a dot on the "i" to avoid getting YONG YONGed.)
Someone also pointed out in the NicoNico comments that the music in Balloon Shoot (#16) sounds like an off-key version of NTDEC's Porter. I'd never noticed, but it does vaguely sound like it... even the percussion sounds quite NTDEC-y.

Hurry Burry definitely does look like Cube's "Snack Time"-- the level layout is quite literally identical-- but the HUD is entirely different. Weird.
Ooh, just noticed something. "Magic Bubble", the Tetris clone, uses a variation of Nice Code's font with the hooked '4'. Even the version on the ABL Console TV, "Strange Pop Pop", uses this font.

The HUD is also different in one of their Magic Jewelry hacks. They probably altered it themselves, but I'm not sure on that.

The music from Balloon Shoot is a strange hacked version of the music from Twin Cards/Memory Test! I knew it sounded familiar.
The music in Slot Machine is from Tenchi wo Kurau (Destiny of an Emperor).
