PVP Station Light 2000
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:04:26 AM »
Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic (the right forum, that is) but I figured I might as well. Earlier today I got a PVP Station Light 2000, which as far as I can tell is basically a rehoused OneStation. A couple of differences that I noticed are that it's in PAL mode as opposed to NTSC and the colours are slightly off. (as in, yellows look more green than they're supposed to) You may notice that the build quality isn't great. (Air bubbles on the screen for one thing, as well as the A and B buttons being reversed for no apparent reason)

It comes with "888000" built-in games (actually 35), and a 666000-in-1 which as you can see in the photos below, is actually a OneStation cartridge. Presumably, other carts from that system are compatible with it, but I'm not entirely sure because I don't have any others. Problem is, the cart itself seems to be defective because I tried it about 100 times and I couldn't get it to start up. :\

Haha, the cartridge's serial code has VTF in it (If you don't understand, just change the V into W).
So. this is an another PSP ripoff and an another pocket famiclone. Also, I laughed at the "Digital Crystal", the name for a cartridge for that. Bad that you can't get it run. :(

[/quote]Are those carts the same size as Gameboy Advance carts? Ive never seen a photo of one until now, I always thought the OneStation was an NES clone for some reason.

its not really a OneStation (real OneStation carts have a different type of connector), its one of Shenzhen Nanjing's many portable famiclones. It is apparently compatible with the FC3000 series (aka "OneStation Elite") by Kensington though.

as for the bubbles on the screen are you sure its not just a protective film or something?

Well I'd try dumping the flash cart in it (from what I've heard, OneStation carts are basically systems on a chip with a flash cart containing some games) but I haven't got a clue how to do that.

Nope, OneStation carts are smaller.

If it is, then it's bloody hard to take off. <_<

They probably will be dumpable but I have no idea how to do that either. D:

I know they're dumpable, someone managed to dump a OneStation multicart once. I actually mentioned that here a couple of months ago. I don't think mine has a globtop though.

I hope you didn't pay much for it :( Is any of the 35 games included interesting at all?

Paid about £16 for it, which I think is about $25. I'll provide a list here so you can judge for yourself.

888000-in-1
1. Crash - Hack of the Jungle Book apparently starring Crash Bandicoot. What's kind of odd is that it was actually made this year, making this a very recent Famiclone.
2. Double Dragon II - Probably my favourite of the NES trilogy although it's kind of annoying when the controls are reversed.
3. Chip 'n Dale - Japanese version.
4. Mitsume ga Tooru - :)
5. Sqoon
6. Harry Potter - That YONG YONGpy Magic Carpet 1001 hack, sans the title screen.
7. 1942
8. Sonic - Not Somari but rather a sprite hack of Adventure Island.
9. Pka Chu - Super Mario Bros. hack starring Pikachu with the music from Pandamar.
10. Zippy Race
11. Soccer
12. Elevator Action
13. B-Wings
14. Porter - Awful hack of it which completely messes up the colour palette. Sort of like the Gun Fighter version of it.
15. 10-Yard Fight - American football, therefore I can't play it. Also worth pointing out that all of the games are in alphabetical order (according to the menu names) from this point.
16. Tank A 1990
17. Antarctic Adventure
18. Super Arabian
19. Balloon Fight
20. Baseball
21. Binary Land
22. Bird Week
23. Bomberman
24. Bombsweeper - This one's actually a homebrew, in case you're wondering.
25. Brush Roller
26. BurgerTime
27. Chack'n Pop
28. Gomoku Narabe - Called Chess for some crazy reason.
29. Circus Charlie
30. Clu Clu Land
31. Field Combat
32. Defender II
33. Devil World
34. Dig Dug
35. Donkey Kong

Apparently, they ran out of space before they could finish the list.

Also, if the box is anything to go by then I think Double Dragon III and a broken cycling game I've never heard of is on the cartridge.

Edit: Incidentally, I haven't had much luck with pirates in the last couple of days.

The pirates always call the Gomoku game as "Chess". I suppose they can't read Japanese so they give the name of the only board game they must know :P All in all, it seems like an acceptable multi. It's a shame they insist with those lousy SMB hacks though.

I'd agree with you on the most part, although why they even bother with that Harry Potter hack is anyone's guess. A bit weird that they have every 24KB game up to Donkey Kong alphabetically. Now if they could fill in the blanks (as in, every game between that and Zippy Race) it'd make sense to do that.

DX have put up a sort of alternate version of the PVP recently, and the list of games is rather weird. It has a few later-gen NES/Famicom titles (featuring Spider-Man, despite the game being rather mediocre) and then a bunch of Nice Code games, in alphabetical order starting from the letter F. O_o Makes me wonder what the games on the 666000-in-1 cartridge are.

Edit: Worth pointing out that the menu screen is practically identical to the one on my 888000-in-1, except mine has a picture of Yogi Bear for no apparent reason.

Are you sure that Spiderman game isn't the Nice Code one?

The preview image on the menu definitely suggests that it's Return of the Sinister Six on the NES, and given that it also has "Hero Story" (which I presume is Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari), Mitsume ga Tooru and RoboCop, I'm willing to bet it's that.
