Yeah, now if I could find out how to get Game Boy games to work on a DS then I could probably dump those multicarts I have. :P

My laptop doesn't have a parallel port, but I'll likely nab one just to have it handy (or if I come by a computer with a parallel port).  I'll probably try that one first, as it's much cheaper for me.  :D [/quote]Might also be possible to get a USB-parallel converter for under $10. It has to be the right kind, though; it needs a DB25 on the non-USB end, not a Centronics connector. (It's easy to tell which-- the DB25 has pin holes, while the Centronics looks more like a ribbon.)

Even better!  I have tons of GB games, so hopefully when I get everything necessary I can get some dumps out of them.

Ack, I spoke too soon. Apparently even the DB25 USB adapters don't support bidirectional communication, which is (obviously) required for dumpers to work. From what I'm seeing out there, some do support bidirectional communication and non-printer devices, but there's absolutely no guarantee of it.

Hmm.  Well, I'll look around and see what I can find.  The Transferer is the big thing at the moment; I can always get a converter later on.

the problem with the Transferer is its software only lets you select from three hard-coded port addresses, and from what I've read USB->parallel adapters (and PCI parallel cards) usually don't use them. and EMS will never update their software ever again. if only they would open source the damn thing all these problems could be solved >:o

Reminds me of the USB photo frame I had that didn't work with Windows 7 x64 or OSX Snow Leopard because it used some weird non-standard protocol for storing photos. And of course, the driver was closed-source.

In other words, it's easier to get a DS? :P (Yeah, I didn't understand any of that)

Played around with the boxed copy and the game makes you reset in order to load the next level, just like Taizou's copy.  I haven't beaten it yet, but it looks like it's the same as his.  I'll trek on and see if this has an ending.

As far as the dumping, I still want to get the GB Transferer, as it supports GB/GBC stuff (which I have a ton of) and I've been meaning to upgrade to a better computer.  Might consider the DS option, but it won't do as much good for me.

Well I'd get a GB Transferer myself to dump a few multicarts, but only if I can figure out how to use it. (Which seems a bit unlikely, quite frankly) It'd be easier to find a port for the DS that allows for Game Boy games to be played on it, but I seriously doubt such a thing exists.

Well the Transferer is easy to use as long as you have a computer with an on-board parallel port. Basically it either works or it doesn't - if it does, it's easy, if it doesn't you're probably screwed (i'm not sure about OS support though - the computer I was using before it broke had Windows XP, I dunno if the software runs on any newer version. on Win7 64-bit it generates error messages but still seems to run, I can't actually test if it'll dump because theres no parallel port on here) Multicarts usually won't dump easily with anything though, either it'll only dump the first game or it'll only dump the menu or something.

Just beat it; it throws you back to the intro with the boss music still playing after you beat it.

Yeah, same as mine.
Makes me wonder if the later print of Rury has any differences from the original.. (I'm assuming mine is the original since its protected, but i'll have to buy a new copy at some point to compare and hopefully dump)

If I remember correctly, my computer has one of those parallel ports but I'll have to check.
