Post by: Awesome Panda on December 22, 2010, 12:22:54 PM- Odd, never seen any Supervision carts in a TV Game case before, they're usually in a close approximation of a NES or Famicom cart from what I've seen. As for the Jing Ke Xin Zhuan cart, what's that supposed to be between the 1-Player and Battery notifications? A slime from Dragon Warrior? Last time I checked they weren't in the game. :P
Edit: Some carts I got recently. http://tinypic.com/r/334olqp/7 (http://tinypic.com/r/334olqp/7)
From top left to bottom right:
SD02 7-in-1 (Thanks MLX :) )
112-in-1 (really only contains 7 games, obviously. And the one on the bottom left is supposed to be Super Mario Bros.)
Tom & Jerry: Best of the Best (or just Tom & Jerry if you prefer)
Lupin
The Young Indiana Jones
Game Star 48-in-1 (doesn't seem to work properly without a Famiclone keyboard which I'm too poor and lazy to buy)
K4303 4-in-1 (which includes Lupin on it, as well as a cut-down version of the Tekken 2 pirate)- Title: Finds

The cart's games run on a OneBus Famiclone without problems. I guess the Vii is a OneBus console since it runs the games fine. :yay:- Title: Finds
Post by: codeman38 on December 24, 2010, 02:48:47 AM- @Cheetahmen: I love the box art for NewGame's version of Lupin. At least they used relevant art on the K4303 cart, but the NewGame cart is so incongruous it looks like something out of NT's library. (Of course, K4303 has its own silliness with Super Mario Knight Rider...)
Also, what does the embossed text say in the oval above the label on the GameStar cart? (Or am I seeing text where there isn't any? :) )- Title: Finds

As for the Super Mario Kart art in Knight Rider, I haven't got a clue, makes just as much sense as using A Bugs Life art for Pac-Man.
As for that embossed text, it's difficult to read thanks to a horrible handwritten-style font, but I think it says Aisonic. Also worth pointing out that there's a CE logo engraved on the back so I assume it was released somewhere in Europe.- Title: Finds

Also if you had the choice between a good condition Kart Fighter and Mortal Kombat II Special (boxed), which one would you buy ?- Title: Finds
Post by: Barver on December 29, 2010, 06:09:07 AM- Is the Kart Fighter boxed? Considering how you never see MKII Special much, let alone boxed, I'd go with it since Kart Figher I guess is more common. But if Kart Fighter's also boxed, I'd go for it instead.

Post by: Barver on December 30, 2010, 12:34:32 AM- Have you ever seen a boxed Kart Fighter btw? With how uncommon it is to find pirates with boxes, it makes me question how many of them ever originally had one.
- Title: Finds
Post by: MLX on December 30, 2010, 05:27:39 AM- I think many publisher were putting boxes to their original games. You wouldn't see a boxed Super Mario Bros. because many publisher would sell it without box (production cost).
But as JY was the only one publishing these, they could make some nice looking boxes. Same for Ge De Industry, Sachen and other. I believe all Ge De Industry games were boxed. Kart Fighter is still a mistery. Maybe a box exist because on the label you see that some character are cut (the box would have the whole picture).
Also the reason why we do not see boxed JY/Ge De games outside of taiwan is due to shipping cost. They were sending pcb and labels to other countries but adding a box would have cost more.
For some reason manufacturers stopped to make box during middle 1996 for their games. Shin Samurai Spirits 2 is the last known boxed JY game.- Title: Finds

NT is too lazy to make for their pirates so I guess no. Also I've never see a boxed Super Game game (that sounds wrong) and as EWJ by Super game is rare as hell, I don't think, if there are any existing copy, a box survided.

Post by: Awesome Panda on January 06, 2011, 03:33:19 PM- The Super Color 25-in-1 for the Game Boy, which boasts that it has no repeats. Bought this off eBay recently, and it's a surprisingly awesome multicart. It has 3 save slots for the Pokémon games, which are the actual games as opposed to being cheap hacks of other ones or the horrible Pokémon Adventure by Yong Yong. And apart from Pokémon Green and whatever Pokémon Stadium is actually called, all of them appear to be in English. Also worth pointing out that despite there being a few typos on the cart, all of the names on the menu are spelled correctly.
1. Pokémon Gold
2. Pokémon Silver
3. Pokémon Yellow
4. Pokémon Red
5. Pokémon Blue
6. Pokémon Green (this one's in Japanese as opposed to a really bad Engrish translation)
7. Pokémon Trading Card Game
8. Pokémon Stadium (Chinese translation of a Pokémon game I don't recognise)
9. Adventure Island III (Japanese version)
10. Bonk's Adventure
11. Snow Bros
12. Nintendo World Cup
13. Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball-Bu (which appears to be the Game Boy version of Super Dodge Ball)
14. Ultraman Ball (that is the actual name, in case you're wondering. Incidentally, this one seems to be a ripoff of Sonic the Hedgehog)
15. Bubble Bobble
16. Castlevania: The Adventure
17. Hero Shuugou!! Pinball Party
18. Contra: The Alien Wars (odd that they use the Japanese name on the cart and menu when the actual game is the American version)
19. Alleyway (mediocre Breakout derivative)
20. Tetris
21. Battle City (just like the Famicom version)
22. Mogura de Pon!
23. Asteroids
24. Side Pocket

Post by: Awesome Panda on January 06, 2011, 04:47:42 PM- Come to think of it, I think it is a pirate original or at least a hack. It's made by Good Life, who also made that Monster Dragon Tactics Card game. Presumably, it's a hack of another game with Pokémon graphics added to make it look original. Also, I apologise for the ridiculously large images, I should probably alter the settings on my camera at some point. Oh, and it'd be a help if you could translate the Chinese on the title screen.

I'm still curious if their games are actually hacks or not-- the ones I've seen all seem to be originals that are based on other games, but not direct copies.- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on January 06, 2011, 05:44:08 PM- its called something like "Pokemon 2000: Super Pikachu" as far as I can work out (using the "magic baby" name for pokemon). but it does look like an original to me rather than a hack.
- Title: Finds
Post by: Awesome Panda on January 06, 2011, 06:09:29 PM- TBH, I'm not entirely sure if it's original or not. While most of the game looks alright (although I prefer the combat system of the official games) the logo and title screens look a bit tacky in comparison if you ask me. It might be easier to tell on a GBC (the Super Game Boy isn't capable of rendering the colour that GBC games have) but I don't have one, and the screen on my GBA is almost impossible to see. Also odd is that unlike the other 7 Pokémon titles which are official, this one doesn't appear to have any save options. In case you're wondering how I know that, with the other games it either loads them up with the save file or it comes up with a message saying that the save files are full and then prompting to create a save file, while it doesn't with this one.
BTW, I just realised that the image of Pikachu is also used in Pikadance on that Pokémon 4-in-1 by Union Bond. Then again, I think in both cases it's taken from one of the other games.- Title: Finds

Also, before that fight there's a cutscene where several Pokémon (Pikachu, Charizard (I think) and some other one I forgot) are walking around in front of a random building in a forest (and the graphics are stolen, of course) and then several Charizards challenge them to a fight, which is odd seeing as they're clearly Kukunas (sp?) in the actual battle. Not a Pokémon expert as you might have noticed by this point. Also worth pointing out that you can't actually do anything before or in that cutscene and the human characters seem to be absent.- Title: Finds

That one on the multi though has a different title screen than the single cart version. I forgot what it looked like since I sold the game awhile back though. About SNES pirates, I'm guessing they were made in Taiwan for the South American market. They just sent the bare pcbs, boxes(if they had one, I'm assuming they all probably originally did) and labels and the people that got them provided the cartridge casings. Seems like a reasonable explanation why you don't see SFC cases.
BTW, another cool find today. I got a magazine that covers the pre-launch of the A'can. Has pics of a trade show and shows the A'can booth. The controller has different color buttons, you can see a glance of a special booth for Son of Evil(which the magazines lists as 邪神之子), there's some pics of unreleased games, including that one Tommy Xie worked on called Birdcage Yard or whatever. I don't have a scanner unfortunately :( But I'll try to do something eventually. Would be neat to show it to Tommy, who knows what he may remember when seeing it.- Title: Finds

9. Loopz - Some weird puzzle game, I have no idea how to play it

14. Puzzle Road or whatever - Mediocre puzzle game

16. Palamedes - Somewhat decent puzzle game

20. World Bowling - A bowling game :P

23. Flipull - Awesome puzzle game :)
24. Pit Man - A puzzle game where you have to beat up random people
25. Tennis - What it says on the tin, although I prefer the NES version
26. Snake - A lot like Snafu on the Intellivision, except the control isn't as good
27. Flappy Special - Just like the Famicom game except a little bit better
28. Tasmania Story - Kind of like Mappy crossed with Bomberman if it was programmed by Active Enterprises
29. Trump Boy - Based off that Big 2 card game
30. Hong Kong - Some sort of puzzle game which seems to be a bit like Mahjong Solitaire, except more confusing
31. Pipe Dream - Game Boy version of Pipe Mania
32. Ishido - Another puzzle game I can't figure out how to play
33. Volley Fire - Boring shooter
34. Soukaban 2 - Sokoban with aliens or something

36. Battle City - Just like it was on the Famicom :)
37. Hiankyo Aliens or whatever - A bit like Onyanko Town except better
38. Shanghai - Mahjong Solitaire

40. Migrain - Mediocre puzzzle game
41. Othello - Just like the NES version, except with random portraits added

43. Spot - Based off that 7-Up character, seems to be sort of like Othello except not as good
44. Tesserae - Mediocre puzzle game

46. Kyoro Chan Land - Rebranded version of Castelian
47. (Insert another obligatory repeat of Super Pika! Land here)

54. Centipede - Just like the arcade version
55. Missile Command - Again, just like the arcade version
56. Asteroids - Again, just like the arcade version :P
57. Dropzone - Defender ripoff, and not a bad one at that
58. Game of Harmony - Not sure how to play this one but it vaguely reminds me of Gravitar
59. Shisensyo - A game where you match up Mahjong tiles
60. Master Karateka - A lot like the original Karateka- Title: Finds

Lord of the Rings 3 - a hack of V.Fame's Devil Land without the world map
Harry Boy IV - seems to be the dumped Harry Potter game with new levels
"Dragon Quest 9 - Crystal Version" - my arse. its just Crystalis translated to Chinese. about the most interesting thing about it is that the Nintendo Software Technology logo was changed to "Niutoude Software Technology"
Lord of the Rings 2 - This is a new one I think, reminds me a bit of Zelda 2 crossed with the FF9 GB pirate. the character you start out as is supposed to be Frodo but the sprite doesnt look anything like him so I guess it was released as something else originally.. anyway i'll definitely record a video of this one at some point.
Oh yeah and I got some plug & play consoles too.
ill go into more details on these later, but the consoles are:
Sunnyflyer 30 in 1. a weird 16-bit console with games i've never seen before. the console seems really cheaply made, as do the games.
Overmax 151 in 1 - a VT03 console with Nice Code games. most of them are just the usual stuff with upgraded graphics, but there are quite a few more interesting ones in the second half of the list, like platformers and whatnot. i think i'll do a video review of this one. although i say that about lots of things. :D

Post by: Awesome Panda on May 27, 2011, 06:14:46 PM- Got the Ultimate TV Game yesterday. I would include a photo, but I'm pissed off at my internet connection for being a pile of wank.
Anyway, this thing includes a "19-in-1" that is really made up of lies, lies, more lies and Ashens ripoffery. Really only includes 6 games, and I wish herpes to the cuntbag that thought that was a good idea. It's vaguely understandable when you claim to have 1000000 games, but could they seriously not find 13 more to add to the list? Also worth pointing out that unlike most Famiclones where the sound is slightly off and the graphics are emulated perfectly fine, here it's the other way around. While the sound is replicated perfectly from the Famicom (apart from the slowdown thanks to PAL mode), the colours are washed out, making some things hard to read like the text in Super Mario Bros.- Title: Finds
Post by: codeman38 on May 28, 2011, 01:37:55 PM- What's the music like in LOTR2, anyway? Sintax-esque stealing from other games? VFame-style original tunes?
Edit: Speaking of which... that's a Li Cheng cart, i.e., not whoever the original publisher was. Have you tried dumping it, taizou? Or LOTR3, for that matter, to see if it's possible to at least get a hacked version of Emo Dao out there in playable form?- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on May 28, 2011, 02:20:07 PM- It's stolen from RPG Maker, probably Sintax/BBD/TD Software/whoever's handiwork.
but yeah, I'll try dumping them both soon. And Harry Boy 4 just for shits and giggles even though it almost certainly won't because its original Sintax. its just a bit of a pain because i need a computer with a parallel port to do it, which neither of my usual ones have :D- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on May 30, 2011, 07:43:43 PM- well i've attempted to dump them - LotR 2 boots and the intro works but it crashes on the title screen. LotR 3 will only dump the first 64k for some reason. & Harry Boy IV is either dumping garbage or its encrypted, as usual for Sintax. PM me if you want the ROMs anyway.

Post by: Awesome Panda on June 16, 2011, 01:28:34 PM- I think I forgot to post this here, a few carts I got a couple of months ago:
Spoiler: click to toggle
The 8-in-1 is by far the most interesting cart of the lot, and contains the following:
1. Bomberman II
2. Tetris + Bombliss (Which I guess makes it a 9-in-1)
3. Double Dribble
4. The Little Mermaid (US version, which is kind of odd)
5. Hatris
6. The Legend of Zelda (The save function doesn't work :\ )
7. Contra
8. Super Mario Bros. 2 (Or The Lost Levels, if you prefer)
Super Fighter III is actually the Street Fighter III pirate.
The 250-in-1 is nothing special. It has Contra, a few 1st gen Famicom games and that's it. Might sell it because the pink 190-in-1 I have is very similar.
I also got Raf World and Transformers: Convoy no Nazo, but those are the official copies.- Title: Finds
Post by: codeman38 on June 16, 2011, 09:41:14 PM- Ooh, had no idea Mulan was put out by X-Boy-- only version I'd ever seen of it was a repro. (Edit: Though now I see there were references in the past on this forum to Mulan being X-Boy's. Dunno how I missed that.)
Still curious just what the relationship between X-Boy and Chuanpu was, given the whole reuse of music from Barver Battle Saga and all that...
Edit: Also curious about the possible connections between X-Boy and the mysterious DVS Technology, too, for that matter.- Title: Finds
Post by: Barver on June 17, 2011, 01:15:24 AM- It feels like I remember someone finding a connection between X-Boy and Sintax before, but I may be imagining things.
I was surprised to see this version of Mulan, since I've seen a couple other boxes that seemed as much the original as any other. Now that I think about it though I never connected it with X-Boy. Since Hercules clearly uses the same engine, and that game is part of the ES-XXXX ID series(which also includes Sonic Jam 6 and Mario 1998 2 and Pocket Monsters), I wonder if they made all those games too.- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on June 17, 2011, 01:22:16 AM- i think X-Boy was only a publisher though, im sure I posted something about them somewhere (either here or the RX forums) and I found they'd switched to making fishing lures or something. the actual developer was probably some random combination of staff from Chuanpu or Never Ending or Gamtec or BBD or whoever the hell happened to be working together in Taichung at that point in time. :D

This thing, which is distributed by the Argentinian distributor of the OneStation and those awful Wii clones, seems better elaborated than the Game Stick since the cable is much longer and the buttons seem of better quality. However, it has LESS games than the Game Stick, replacing Bomberman, Super Dinamix and Xiao Ma Li with Circus Charlie repeats and a strange hack of Mario Bros. called "Dora Bros". I found it interesting since it seems they took the Doraemon pic from the actual Doraemon games, the enemy have changed and when you pick a coin a Japanese text shows up. Don't know what it says though.

Here's what I got today
(http://oi56.tinypic.com/122duf4.jpg)
Speedy Dragon for A'can
Power Rangers Fighting Edition for Genesis
Wu Xia Qun Ying Zhuan for GBC
I've yet to play the Power Rangers one, I normally don't care about fighters but considering how unknown it is I thought it was worth getting it. The GBC game is confusing who made it, I'd guess Vast Fame since it has a small collage of games released in 2002 in the back of the manual, including Pokemon Ruby(that V Fame RPG), Digimon 3 and another VFame Digimon game who's name escapes me. But it also shows San Guo Zhi 2 or something(a Sintax game) and Dragon Ball Fighter, which I don't think were known to have connections to V Fame.
Also not shown cuz it was for someone else, I got a copy of Shui Hu Zhuan for MD and the side of the box says SKOB. Maybe it's a reprint that SKOB distributed, I don't have any idea.

so from left to right, top to bottom, heres what they really are:
1. Some Konami mono RPG, translated to Chinese. I think it was fan translated in English as well but I dunno its real name.
2. Monster Race by Koei. still in Japanese
3. amazing label right? its a Xing Xing game anyway, "King of Fighters 2006" (the listings actually showed a box for both this and "Digimon" which I never got). its really a Chinese translation of KOF '97, the hack possibly by Vast Fame that combines 95 & 96
4. Rainbow Prince!
5. the Yong Yong game
6. Rockman X2 translated to Chinese. i was hoping for Zook Z really. D:

76-in-1
21-in-1
Nothing special, just a couple of random multis I got earlier today. (The latter of which I got for free ^_^ )
Haven't tested the 76-in-1 yet, but here's the list of games on the 21-in-1:
1. Soccer
2. Super Mario Bros.
3. Tennis
4. Star Force (Which is stupid, given that it says "Marcross" on the label)
5. Tank A 1990
6. Xiao Ma Li
Now that I've bothered trying the 76-in-1, here are the games on it:
1. Super Pocket Monster (Pocket Monster hack. Worth pointing out that in this version, the collision detection is completely broken, causing Pikachu to fall through the ground as soon as the level starts. This, combined with the removal of the debug mode, makes it completely unplayable.)
2. Kid Dracula (or whatever the Japanese title is. For some odd reason, the menu just calls it Castlevania even though it isn't)
3. Chip 'n Dale 2
4. Galaxian (Sped up shots hack)
5. Pooyan
6. Track & Field
7. Ikki
8. Choujikuu Yousai Macross
9. Raid on Bungeling Bay
10. Brush Roller
There's some weirdly named games afterwards, but they're all repeats.- Title: Finds

Sucks this is costing me a lot more than I expected, probably gonna be around $100 when all is said and done.- Title: Finds

Post by: Barver on July 19, 2011, 03:15:27 AM- You knew of the Parodius version too? Got any pics? I only just TODAY finally found out from a description in a Nico Nico video that that is in fact just the regular Adventuous Boy. I'd been wondering forever what that was ever since I saw it on Yahoo Japan all the way back in like 2000~2001. I'll be damned that I learn you knew of it the very same day haha.
I'm sure you must have seen the regular Adventurous Boy before, I sold a copy to NusuttoSan that he scanned on his blog.

Post by: Barver on August 02, 2011, 06:51:50 AM- I've seen those, Trenton of Famicom World has sold similar carts I think. I never understood why but the front of the box has the Chinese name for Metal Gear, 合金裝備. Funny how they give no indication it's a multi except for the list of games on the back. It looks like the companies name is Fu Zhou Ku Ge Computer. Ku Ge means Cool Brother, probably where CoolBoy comes from.
I don't feel like translating all the names cuz I'm lazy =p But I can tell you it looks like that cart is full of Waixing titles. I see Xi You Ji, some Pocket Monster games, Fire Emblem, Doraemon(JP to CH translation I'm sure) and some Dragon Ball, just to name a few.- Title: Finds
Post by: Awesome Panda on August 02, 2011, 06:58:14 AM- Waixing games? Funny, I translated a few names on the TaoBao page and they seemed to be official Famicom/NES games. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say false advertising. :P
Also, that Doraemon game could just as easily be the Somari hack for all I know.- Title: Finds
Post by: Barver on August 02, 2011, 07:35:16 AM- The Doraemon one says Doraemon's Time Machine(哆啦A梦之时光机器), so I think it's one of the official games. I remember one of them starting with an intro with a time machine, probably the first one. I'd be willing to bet it's this one:
http://www.geocities.jp/rinkaku89/pachigame/index_pachi.html (http://www.geocities.jp/rinkaku89/pachigame/index_pachi.html)
I love what they did to Doraemon there XD
The pokemon games I assume are Waixing, they stick out in the list as 宠物小精灵 followed by numbers. 宠物小精灵 was one of the ways they named Pokemon over there from what I recall anyway. And I know Xi You Ji is supposed to be one of Waixing's earliest and most successful titles. This is mostly why I came to the conclusion it's a Waixing cart, but I could be wrong.
One thing I don't think you have to worry about is repeats though, going by the carts Trenton has sold which looked the same they supposedly really contained what the list says. Hopefully it works on whatever console you've got :)- Title: Finds
Post by: Awesome Panda on August 02, 2011, 07:40:02 AM- Well, that 245-in-1 does have some repeats towards the end (I think there's really about 200-odd games in total) but I haven't got a clue if they sold me the right cart or not. I was expecting a 150-in-1, but the box lists 63 games on the back.
Edit: Just tested it on my Famicom and it works, but the graphics are a bit screwed up. I'm guessing it's something to do with OneBus technology. The multicart itself is the 150-in-1 I was expecting, and for some crazy reason it has both Super Contra and Probotector 2. Seriously, what's the point?
What's also funny is that Raf World is included, wasn't expecting to see that on a multicart.- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on August 02, 2011, 10:10:16 AM- oh i saw that cart before, i was thinking "that's awesome, a Waixing multicart". but then I could never find the damn thing again.
what just occurred to me, though, is that list on the back might just be a list of Fuzhou Coolboy's other carts (they released a lot of Waixing games under that name, i think its probably either a division of Waixing or just an alias - even the cart shell is the same as Waixing's newer ones, without the logo on it). so I guess the mysterious Waixing multicart was just that 150 in 1 all along.- Title: Finds

Post by: Awesome Panda on August 02, 2011, 10:31:48 AM- Well after testing the 150-in-1 some more, there are a few noteworthy games on it:
35. Super Popo's Adventure
This one seems to be a Teletubbies themed pirate original using the same engine as Pocket Monster. The main gameplay difference between this and Pocket Monster is that the game takes place underwater for no apparent reason, so the controls sort of work like the underwater stages of Super Mario Bros.
102. Fish War
I was expecting this to be the Nice Code game, but this is actually an underwater themed hack of Balloon Fight where (as far as I can tell) the platforms are invisible. It's credited to BBG on the title screen and the Balloon Trip mode was removed. :( (Thankfully, the original version was included as well)
150. Orchard Kavass
This one is yet another rehash of Scuba Hunt or whatever it's called, except this is set in a forest. It's the Buzz Bombers ripoff, in case you're wondering.
Also worth pointing out that out of the 150 games, 3 of them (by my count) were repeats, not counting Probotector II or the fact that there are two hacks of Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu on it.
Also worth pointing out that the sound on my Famicom's not working at the moment so I can't test that yet. >_<
Edit: Well after testing this on my Famiclone, it does work properly. And after playing the aforementioned games again, Super Popo's Adventure has the exact same soundtrack as Pocket Monster while Fish War completely replaces the soundtrack and removes the sound effects for no apparent reason.- Title: Finds

Post by: taizou on September 29, 2011, 09:03:43 PM- got me a one of these today:
Spoiler: click to toggle
it's a ping pong game by Timetop. well it doesnt say Timetop anywhere on it, but the screenshots on the box say Daidaixing which is their Chinese name. and the PCB has the name Gao Ming on it who is their CEO. so read into that what you will (like that it's made by Timetop)
also those kids really do not look like they're enjoying the ping pong action one bit.
anyway i currently have no means to test it because i just moved and i'm temporarily holed up in a tiny room with no TV for about two weeks, so i dunno what the game is like or what the hardware actually is. VT03 maybe? the pingpong game is on a 60-pin cart so it might be a famiclone but it also might not be, lots of chinese game consoles use 60-pin carts even if they're not even remotely famiclone based. it'd be kinda cool if it actually *was* a famiclone because the wireless receiver connects to a famicom expansion-style port, which means you should be able to use the controllers on a real famicom (although i dunno how many, if any, games would be playable). anyway i'll test it out whenever i get the chance.- Title: Finds
Post by: Awesome Panda on October 14, 2011, 03:10:28 PM- Earlier today, I got myself a 245-in-1, or 23-in-1 + 222-in-1 as the box presents itself as. Or maybe it's 1389-Capcom (insert Chinese text here) or something.

Despite saying that that it's two multicarts in one, they use the same menu which happens to be the one from the 150-in-1. I started up a few of the games to make sure it works and that's it. Post by: taizou on October 14, 2011, 07:39:15 PM- brief update on the timetop pingpong game - i now have a tv again and from the looks of things its a standard famiclone (although the title screen music is a PCM sample so it might have something else going on). im currently attempting to get batteries into one of the controllers. not sure how to take the cover off, and i'm kinda worried that if i apply too much force in the wrong direction i'll break it. more later!
(also it seems weird to me that timetop released about 5 different variations of this console, each with an identical console and its own game cart and controller - wouldnt it have made more sense to sell the console alone or with one game/controller bundled, then sell extra cart+controller packs separately?)
okay i figured out you just have to lift it up to the point where it feels like its going to snap. biut it won't snap, it'll open. so, the game!
its definitely a famiclone judging from the graphics. i dunno if it'll run standard carts, or if its carts will run in a standard clone - i don't have any fami stuff with me at the moment. but i'll test it when i can.
the game itself is nothing to write home about, i'm not sure if it does any proper motion detection or maps everything to the A button but probably the latter. still, i have to give them credit for innovation - its a motion controlled game console made in 2001, a *long* time before the Wii. So really Nintendo ripped off Timetop. >:0- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on October 16, 2011, 01:42:52 PM- well i tried a fami cart on this thing, it *is* a famiclone. but it has a 15 pin and a 9 pin port on the front, the 15 pin is where the wireless receiver goes, i tried plugging a standard controller into the 9-pin but no luck. so i guess the 9-pin is for the second player? that'd also mean i have to track down a 15-pin famiclone controller like the old Micro Geniuses (and by extension Dendys) used to use.

Also, I think the Famicom light gun (and Famiclone equivalents) are 15-pin so you could probably play light gun games on it as well.- Title: Finds

And I can't do that, yet.
A lightgun might work (and if it does, that'd mean the 15-pin port is a standard famicom expansion port, and you'd be able to use the ping pong controllers on a real Famicom..) but I don't have one with me. or any lightgun games for that matter. (As far as I can tell, it's basically this (http://nintendoplayer.com/pirated/50-games-plug-n-play/) converted to PAL format and with a slightly different controller design) Just to point out, Inclement Trip is actually Super Spy Hunter and I think Magic Block is a hack of Tengen Tetris. do you have a pic of it or anything? (also did it come with packaging? i'm kinda curious)[/quote]No, I would take one with my phone but the picture quality on that is abysmal. Basically, it looks the same as the clone I linked except it's opaque with a blue and yellow motif. The sticker is also different, saying "50 Games: Plug and Play" instead. Also, the LED below it can be somewhat annoying when you're playing the games. <_<
Also, mine didn't come with any packaging, although that's probably because I bought it second-hand. (Fortunately, the previous owner left the batteries in :P )- Title: Finds

Post by: codeman38 on October 17, 2011, 11:43:51 PM- I wish the person from AssemblerGames who posted this video of a plug-and-play boxing console (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5QdfxXGqDA) had actually posted video of the console in action, and not just an unboxing (no pun intended). I came across this video a while back, but now that I take a second look at it, it's clearly made by Timetop-- the logo and chassis are the same as Taizou's ping-pong console, and it, too, predates the Wii.

Also speaking of Timetop I recently got an "LTPS Handy Game" with 6 original VT03 games built in (25 including repeats, I think theyre the same games from the controller takashi had though) and a cart with 12 standard NES games on it plus, again, repeats. Also there was a sheet of paper included with Engrish game descriptions for an entirely different cart, including Nuts & Milk, which they referred to as "Dick & Milk".

CVS also seems to be the only place selling the new Zone 3D (http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_product_detail.jsp?filterBy=&skuId=850815&productId=850815&navAction=push&navCount=2&no_new_crumb=true) so far - the Zone 100 is out in the UK now, but that's basically the Zone 60 with 40 more games and no 3Dness. You can always tell it's nearly Christmas when the new Zones start coming out of the woodwork.. there's also something quite obscure called the "Zone Motion" which I found all of one mention of, from a site in Australia, but the page had disappeared. And a handheld with the grammatically dubious name "Zone Classic in Pocket" which I may or may not have just bought on eBay, ahem.- Title: Finds

Post by: Awesome Panda on December 12, 2011, 11:55:16 AM- Apparently, Christmas comes early because I managed to find a Gamezone II 128 in 1 at Cash Converters earlier. :D
Haven't been able to play it yet though, because it didn't come with batteries and I don't think I have a DC 6V adaptor.
Edit: Having played the arcade ports this thing has (by which I mean the games which were never released on the Famicom or NES) I think they're made by the same company who did those 8-bit DDR ripoffs. The reason being that the sound engine is taken from those games. None of them seem to credit a developer but the games vary in quality:
Scramble - The rockets don't seem to launch at any point and the transition between levels is different.
Missile Command - Seems to be based off both the arcade and Game Boy versions. The player has two bases instead of three and the missiles themselves work differently: they fire a lot faster but the explosions only last for a couple of seconds.
Asteroids - The worst one out of the lot. The physics flat out suck and the warp move seems to be missing.
Frogger - There's no music (apart from some generic tune on the title screen) and you only have to get two frogs to the end of the stage instead of five.
Moon Cresta - Not sure on this one as I've never played the arcade version. :\- Title: Finds

Both games, it turns out, are the undumped Chinese version of Digimon 3 Crystal featuring the original soundtrack. Fun note is that the right one boots up with "Niutoude" which I think is Winsen's boot-up logo. Left one boots with just "Nintendo" as it's a generic bootleg.

Post by: taizou on December 16, 2011, 08:16:14 PM- Got some more Harry Potterness today:
http://imgur.com/a/263IN (http://imgur.com/a/263IN)
Harry Potter 2, or to give it its full title, "Harry Potter 2 and the Sorcerer's Stone: The black art wtrstle edition"
This was actually sealed when I got it, but I've kind of squandered the opportunity to sell it for a bazillion dollars to some mad collector by opening it. Ah well.
It's basically the dumped Harry Potter platformer, except the opening cutscene text is in English (and it repeats the entire thing for each screen, in what I assume is a mistake, but at least the English text printing routine doesn't make the music slow way down like the Chinese one does), the title screen is in Chinese, and there's a screen of engrishy text with a picture before each level.
Theres a sticker on the back indicating it was manufactured in 2002, and it tried to start up with a BBD logo the first couple of times (which didn't work on my SP, and I don't have a GBC with me, but worked eventually) so I guess its one of their earlier titles, before Sintax started releasing stuff (unless BBD and Sintax are actually the same thing). And kind of interestingly, theres a "BE-014" serial number in the bottom right of the box. just a guess, but B=BBD, E=English? And that'd mean it's the 14th game they released... presumably one is Metal Slug 2001, I have no idea what the rest could be.- Title: Finds
Post by: codeman38 on December 17, 2011, 02:15:42 AM- Curiously enough, there actually is some English text buried in the dumped Chinese ROM! Spoilering it because it's a long bunch of short lines.
And yes, this is copied verbatim; it does indeed start in mid-word. (Perhaps they overwrote the English text with Chinese, for once?)Spoiler: click to toggle
Does any of this match the text in your copy, taizou?
Also: CGB-P-ACNE. Lulz. I thought that might actually be a SKU for a real game, but no, the Internet has never heard of such a thing.
Speaking of SKUs and Metal Slug, "The Beet Terrif Battle of 2002 (http://www.64scener.com/gb/unl-terrif.htm)" is BE-015. So yep, Metal Slug was one of these. Same "Game USA Color" packaging, too.- Title: Finds

Yeah, that matches the text in mine - here's the cut off bit at the beginning:Spoiler: click to toggle
The paragraph about the sorting hat doesn't show up at all, but it looks like it was supposed to be in the intro and they messed up somehow. Everything after that is pre-level text.
It does seem like the English version came first though, and then they had trouble getting it to display Chinese - hence the slow music in the dumped version's intro, and the lack of any of the pre-level stuff.- Title: Finds

http://imgur.com/a/7fuY1 (http://imgur.com/a/7fuY1)
(there was also a dance mat but I don't have much room to unfold it at the moment)
I'll post some impressions as I play stuff, for now I've tried:
Bynasty Warriors Advance 5 - seriously that's what the title screen says. Its the unboxed yellow Sintax cart - just a GBC game in a GBA case. Some of you may have seen "Dragon Ball Z3" by Sintax which is either a port of DB: Advanced Adventure, or at least something stealing a lot of graphics from that game - well this is a poorly done hack of that game. The character's name in the status bar is even still "Gokou". and it has music from Lemmings naturally.
Zook Man ZX4 - Rockman & Crystal by Vast Fame with a different title screen.
Jue Zhan San Guo (the one that says "SLG" on the box) - Seems to be a GBA strategy RPG by Vast Fame, it's all in Chinese and the save battery is dead though. But definitely interesting. o:
Incidentally the copy of San Guo Zhi Lie Zhuan (in the plastic bag) seems to have been sent in error instead of the English copy of Magic Lamp I ordered. Dunno if its worth returning it.
More:
Maple Story 2 - Another Sintax GBC game in a GBA case, seems to be a variation on the beat 'em up engine used in
Final Fantaxy IX (though there's no world map or anything). Music is from a Castlevania game I think. Strangely the manual is for Maple Story 1, which seems to be an entirely different game.
World of Warcraft - Crappy Sintax game. You just walk to the right and shoot things, and pick up HP recovery items, and that's it. You can jump but I've yet to see a platform. Also I just paused the game and it crashed. And there's Lemmings music again.
Lion King 3 - Can't get this to work, no matter how many times I blow on it. Seems a bit of a tight fit in the GBA, I'll have to try it on a GBC or something when I get access to one again.- Title: Finds
Post by: Pepper-98 on December 17, 2011, 11:26:40 AM- I hate how some of these bootlegs go by like a dozen names. First it's Rockman, then it's Zook Hero, now it's Zook Man. As for San Guo Zhi, I'd return it and get Magic Lamp if you can. San Guo Zhi doesn't seem to be too rare of a game. By the way, does Jue Zhan San Guo have the same game engine as Digimon Saphire or share music with another VF game, by any chance?

Post by: taizou on December 17, 2011, 11:31:21 AM- 2002 Fighter Strategy (or something like that) - One of Sachen's last ever games, I guess. Really weird, it doesn't have much in common with their other GBC stuff at all (the music isn't bad, for a start) so I'm guessing it was developed externally. It's a strategy game based on King of Fighters, anyway.. in Chinese.
Tenchi wo Kurau IV Credited to "Super Huge Dragon" aka SKOB. Judging from the music it was developed by the same people as their Super Robot Wars games.
Binary Monster 2001 - Actually different to the picture in the listing, which had 2001 in the title and not just in the corner. Its Gowin's Binary Monster virtual pet-ish-game, still in mono and everything (even though the box screenshots are in colour), just re-released with a "Hotkid" startup logo, presumably because the earlier Gowin logo broke GBC compatibility. I'm not sure if the other 2001 version has any differences, but probably not.
Next up: the Waixing games!
- Qiezei
- Dec 17 2011, 11:26:40 AM
By the way, does Jue Zhan San Guo have the same game engine as Digimon Saphire or share music with another VF game, by any chance?[/quote]The engine seems to be unique - I don't recognise any of the music so far but it wouldn't surprise me if it was recycled, probably from San Guo Zhi Lie Zhuan or something.
Waixing games:
Guang Ming Zhi Zi ("Child of Light") - seems like a fairly mediocre RPG, a cut above a lot of their NES stuff though. Anyway there are guards that won't let me out of the first town and it's all in Chinese. D:
Huo Yan Wen Zhang (Fire Emblem) - Port of Fire Emblem Gaiden from the Famicom from the looks of things.
as for San Guo Zhi, well its dumped, so theres probably not much I could tell you about that. I'll maybe try and send it back and get Magic Lamp.
The purple Power Joy-ish plug and play isnt anything particularly interesting, just a standard famiclone - the 125 in 1 cart has about 70 games on it, Super Contra then a bunch of early-gen stuff, including a couple of those hacked lightgun games (which are dumped anyway)- Title: Finds

Post by: taizou on December 17, 2011, 12:15:41 PM- Nah, doesn't seem to be. Its not compatible with OneBus PJ cartridges either.
And then theres the Subor plug & play, which is... weird. That little wheel on the thing, I thought would be to control driving games, but it actually just lights up with 3 LEDs which flash constantly. It does have a cart slot at least. But it's battery only, and it suffers from the same audio interference problem as my Super Gun King, which you can see in some of the videos on my neopnp channel. D:
As for the built in games, theyre all Waixing/NC stuff, nothing I haven't seen before so far. Unusually for Subor its not a VT03 though.
and finally - the dance mat. it has "Panasonic Tau" branding on it, which was a line of TVs they sold around 2000 or so, which makes absolutely no sense. I'll try and get a picture of this thing at some point anyway. My theory is that, I guess, some Taiwanese Panasonic distributor had it made as a promotional item? Otherwise its just your standard dance mat Famiclone, the built in software is pretty much (if not completely) identical to one of the dumped DDR-clone ROMs.
Also it runs off an AC adapter only, there's a battery cover on the back which broke when I tried to open it, and then I discovered there werent any connectors for the batteries anyway. Quality stuff, this.- Title: Finds

In that case, why do the alternate releases of Zook Hero 2 have "Rockman" in the title?[/quote]A good question indeed! And it's not just in English; they also use the Capcom-preferred character for luo in the Chinese title.
The only thing I can think of is that none of the Rockman-branded versions that I've seen actually have the VFame logo anywhere in the packaging. (Even though the dumped DX3 ROM does have the VFame boot logo. Go figure.) So it's like they released the 'official' version as Zook with the non-standard Chinese rendering of the name, and then they also put out an anonymous black-market version as Rockman.
Not the first time they've done this. There are two versions of Devil Island out there too, one of which actually uses Castlevania's Chinese title.- Title: Finds

JY-015 7 in 1 - Bunch of Chess, Othello and other board game. Strangely, only the game by TXC still have copyrights...[/quote]hmm o: that's interesting. i wonder if there was some kind of relationship between JY and TXC, and TXC allowed them to use the game? I noticed a while back that a lot of Taiwanese JY releases (including that multi) use the same style of cart as TXC's games, so if they were close enough to at least share a cart shell manufacturer, JY probably wouldn't have pirated one of TXC's games without permission.. (since both were in Taiwan I'd imagine TXC could have sued).- Title: Finds

Spoiler: click to toggle
Top left to bottom right:
-Shui Hu Shen Shou: An official copy of the game, as it boots up with the "V.FAME" logo. The only difference I've found so far is that the intro plays each screen a tad bit longer, so you can hear the entire first loop of the intro song. Everything else seems the same.
-Pokemon Game #1: Winsen release of Pokemon Blue that has trouble booting up. This piece of crap boots with "Niutoude".
-Harry Potter Game #1: A not-so-special bootleg of Harry Potter 3 by Winsen that boots with "Nintendo". Dunno why that is, but whatever. I have no idea what that logo under the "RPG" text is from. Same as ROM.
-Harry Potter Game #2: Despite the label it's actually...the English release of Pokemon Red. Wait, what? (Boots with "Nintendo", by the way.)
-Pokemon Game #2: A Chinese hack of the second Pokemon Trading Card game released only in Japan. Yet another Winsen release and it boots with "Niutoude". Also has that logo from the first Harry Potter game, though it's barely legible.
-Next Four Games: Nothing special at all. Jungle Book's board doesn't like sitting still, which is a pain. Gotta loveKonamiballKonamic Basket, though.
-Labeless Game #1: Atlus' Last Bible game in Chinese. Boots with "Nintendo".
-Labeless Game #2: Weird multicart called "Color 1 in 1" (yes, really) with an e-mail to "logroom@263.net" and has three options: NV-RAM TEST, which does nothing but bring you to the menu again, with CONTINUE GR 1 N and POKEMON GREEN bringing you to a Chinese hack of the English release of Pokemon Blue. Bottom of the screen says "GZ.GD 2001".- Title: Finds

Post by: codeman38 on February 20, 2012, 10:29:00 PM- At a discount store called Christmas Tree Shops, I found one of their store-brand Wii knockoffs-- which just happens to look very much like one of Qi Sheng Long's "All Sports" units. With what clearly looked like
Senca TechNiutai's VT168 games, based on the illustrations.
And it had a cartridge slot that looked Famicom-like, but as Taizou has observed with his own QSL plug-n-play, not all Famicom-like cartridge slots are actually compatible.
Oh, and it was sixteen dollars.
WHY DID I DECIDE NOT TO BUY THE THING? *facepalm* Maybe they'll still have it in stock when I go back...
Edited to add: I think it might've been identical to this WiWi (http://www.qishenglong.com/doce/product/details_376.html###), actually. The cartridge definitely looks like the one that was on the box, anyway.
Edit #2: But the sports cartridge on RetroGamerVX's EZi Sports system (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgwIQf3wrMU) looks very similar, and it's a much smaller selection of games. (Wish I'd gotten a picture-- don't remember whether it said 18-in-1 or 198-in-1 on the cart. Not that the cart is in any way representative of the one contained inside, regardless.) Whatever it is, though, I'm certain that (a) it's by Qi Sheng Long, and (b) it has at least some VT168 sports games bySencaNiutai.
Edit #3: GAH, my brain needs rest. I'm getting my pirate companies mixed up all over the place. Niutai, not Senca! Also, they might be Sunplus, not VT. I really should've gotten photos, because I'm running off foggy memories right now.
Now that I think about it even more, I am almost certain that the console I referenced above is this version of the WiWi (http://www.qishenglong.com/doce/product/details_377.html###). The box design seems awfully familiar to me-- although I think they only showed the top 8 games on the back, and filled the rest with legal boilerplate, contact info on Christmas Tree Shops, etc.
There's a Wiii3-branded version with a similar box design. (http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/wireless-video-gaming-wiii3/94880285) This further confirms it for me - I definitely remember this one having a Mega Drive-style controller with blue buttons.
So yeah, 16-bit Niutai games it almost certainly is! Just not sure if it's VT or Sunplus 16-bit.- Title: Finds

Post by: recorderdude on February 22, 2012, 12:10:54 PM- Saw a copy of Bubble Bobble MD that somehow ended up in my local used game store. Not sure if I'll get it, and I'm not sure of how much they think it's worth yet, but I'll ask next time, if only for fun. The cart is standalone and the art looks different than some of the copies I've seen online, but seeing as the only other bubble bobble series game that actually came out on genesis was a licensed port of rainbow islands in japan only, I sincerely doubt it could be anything else. Do believe it said "SUPER BUBBLE BOBBLE MD" on the cart itself, though.
Looks a bit like this version, perhaps it is: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n223/mrmark0673/Genesis%20Reproductions/DSC00590.jpg (http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n223/mrmark0673/Genesis%20Reproductions/DSC00590.jpg)

Earlier today, I found something called the Powerdrive (or something like that) at B&M, which is basically a plastic driving seat and steering wheel with some rubbish JungleTac games built-in. The thing was going for about £30 if I remember correctly; as far as I'm concerned it's barely worth £1. -_-- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on February 24, 2012, 07:11:51 PM- hah. B&M still has those? They must be having trouble shifting them (not that I'm surprised).
Anyway I got some interesting Game Boy carts - no pics yet, I'm kinda busy, but they are:
Pokemon "動作篇" (Action Chapter, roughly): Basically an alternate version of Pocket Monster Go Go Go (the Smurfs hack) but only the title screen, main character sprite and a few other scattered Smurfs have been changed.
At first I thought it was an earlier version, but looking at the dumped PMGGG it seems to be based on the mono version of the Smurfs game, while this is based on the later colour release. So I guess when the colour version came out they just copied over the title screen and Pikachu's sprite but didn't bother hacking anything else, which means (among other things) Meowth's speech at the beginning isn't there :( surely one of the great moments in pirate gaming history. Still, at least it doesn't have the slowdown of the other version.
Edit: Also it's one of those "New GB Color" carts that a few early Vast Fame games were released in...
Digimon 3 "超夢" Version - possibly the original release of Digimon 3 by Vast Fame. Other than the subtitle it seems identical to the alternate-music version as seen in Qiezei's videos though. Interestingly "超夢" (literally Super Dream) is Mewtwo's Chinese name though.
Digimon D-3 - Not the one Qiezei found on Taobao recently (though I just ordered that... let's see if it's the same thing) this one is published by "Super Huge Dragon" (aka SKOB) and seemingly developed by BBD/Sintax. It's a kind of average platform game using Pokemon Pinball music, but nice enough as far as pirates go.

So yeah, 16-bit Niutai games it almost certainly is! Just not sure if it's VT or Sunplus 16-bit.[/quote]As far as I know Niutai never made VT168 games, so it's probably Sunplus - it's hard to tell which one it is exactly though, Qi Sheng Long's product line gets totally confusing sometimes. The two major variants are the 87 (I think) in 1 which comes with a 69 in 1 Vt03 cart and 16 in 1 Sunplus cart, or the "198" in 1 which just comes with either a single Sunplus cart or everything built in. But those two variants show up in all sorts of different case designs and under different names and stuff. I think there's also a version out there that only has the 16 Sunplus games from the 87 in 1 version.- Title: Finds

but! Checking the credits in the back of the manual, we have "Gamtec Corporation - Never Ending team" and I recognise Liao Da-sen (the Vfame guy) credited for music. So I really wanna play this now. * Metal Slug Chong Jian Tian Ri (http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=worddict&wdrst=0&wdqb=%E9%87%8D%E8%A7%81%E5%A4%A9%E6%97%A5) - By Sintax. Just the dumped Metal Slug 2001, right down to the title screen. The label looks newer but it doesn't fit the cart and there are the remains of another label under it, so I suspect Sintax might have just relabelled old stock.
* Legend of Sword & Fairy - this one is dumped, seems like a recent reprint.
* Street Fighter Zero 4 - A few screenshots of this one have done the rounds, but I don't think there are any videos. Because if there were, I'd already have heard the title screen music and I wouldn't have laughed out loud just then. It's the same music from bloody Jurassic Boy 2! And it's possibly even more out of place than the Pokemon Pinball music in that Spiderman game. so, a Sachen production maybe? Or at least whoever developed the GB ports of Jurassic Boy 2 and Street Heroes (I'm guessing the engine is the same as the latter). Also the little anti-tamper sticker on the back says "(A) Chen". Hmm.
* New Dragonball/Dragonball Fight 2002 - Basically the same as the dumped Dragonball Fight 2005 but the music is stolen from a different game. Published by Xing Xing.
* Metal Slug 3 - another Sintax one, different engine to MS2001 but probably about the same level of quality. Music is from Lemmings though. I'm totally sick of that Lemmings music.
* Space Baby - by Sinta..uh, I mean, Jump Technology. Their Lilo & Stitch game - it seems like quite a nicely designed platform game, unfortunately the controls aren't very good which kinda ruins it. Still, you can tell this is one of their earlier games, because it's clearly had a bit of effort put into it, plus you can save and the music isn't from fucking Lemmings.
Incidentally both Sintax carts from this lot keep restarting on my SP, they'll go back to the Game Boy logo and just get stuck in a loop on that.- Title: Finds

Speaking of which, I can't remember if I've linked this before, but there's a "Capcom vs. SNK" bootleg that I have seen a video of on NicoNico (Hatena viewer link (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/video/niconico/sm8872814)) which looks and sounds incredibly Sachenesque. Got to be related somehow.
Also, any idea what game the Dragonball Fight music is from? Feel free to post a line-in recording of it-- I love doing research on that sort of thing. :) Edited to add: Also, Space Baby. I mean, it's Sintax, it has to be stolen from somewhere, but where?
Also, for anyone wanting to find more on X Battle Line (come on, who doesn't?), here's the Chinese title: 終極戰線 (Zhōngjí zhànxiàn). Which translates to something like "Ultimate Battlefront".
Oh, and it came out in 2002. The very same time VFame were releasing Soul Falchion. Reports of Never Ending Team's death were greatly exaggerated, apparently...- Title: Finds

I'll record some the Dragonball Fight & Space Baby music when I get a chance, I definitely recognise DBF's from somewhere but I have no idea where.- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on March 07, 2012, 05:00:28 PM- well! i got 23 Chinese Game Boy games today. Mostly RPGs, but only one of them is a lazy hack of a licensed game, and none of them are by Yong Yong. Not bad going, I think. o: Details to follow soonish.
i'll post pics and info about all of them when I have more time, but some of the more interesting things are one of those Flying Daggers games in a weird "Super Game" cart that actually credits Tian Cai Xiao Zi, a port of Beggar Prince published by Sintax but evidently developed by the same people, another RPG developed by them with Sintax packaging but a Xing Xing cart (with a Niutoude boot logo but a big-ass Sintax logo in-game), a Sintax fighting game with only one ill-fitting music track and no sound effects, Waixing releases of Shi Kong Xing Shou & Shui Hu Shen Shou, and... more!
Oh yeah, and I got another copy of Lion King III and this one doesn't work either. >:0- Title: Finds
Post by: Pepper-98 on March 07, 2012, 06:49:26 PM- Waixing released Shi Kong/Shui Hu? Is the Shi Kong one related to the FF9 bootleg or is it a different animal (assuming they're GBC games)?
- Title: Finds
Post by: taizou on March 07, 2012, 07:06:30 PM- Doesn't seem to be related to the FF9 version - they're basically just the original versions with the intros removed and different title screens. They both also seem to have another option on the title screen but I'm not sure what it does.
I have no idea if these releases were legit but Shi Kong's manual is full of original artwork, so I assume so... Which makes me wonder if they actually had permission from V.Fame to port Digimon 3 & Shui Hu to the Famicom too. Although this release has a different name but their Fami version keeps the original, so I'm not sure.- Title: Finds
Post by: codeman38 on March 07, 2012, 11:54:24 PM- Hm. Now I wonder if Tian Cai Xiao Zi is some sort of division of/contract developer for Sintax.
I mean, it would sort of make sense if that's the case. Sintax and VFame were both connected to Gamtec, so there would potentially be some sharing of resources (i.e., the RPG engine). And the Flying Daggers games use music stolen from a licensed game, much like...Sintax's entire oeuvre, basically.- Title: Finds
Post by: Awesome Panda on March 13, 2012, 08:11:09 AM- I got that 72 in 1 thing I ordered earlier today. Basically, it contains 48 games, most of which are either hacks or Nice Code originals. What's kind of odd though is that The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is included (renamed to Tiny Toon 3 or something like that) and a lot of the names on the menu are wrong, with many of them being what the hack is based off. (e.g. Sky Invader being called Sky Destroyer on the menu)
Edit: Apparently, it's made by a company called Yika Creative Ltd.- Title: Finds

Post by: taizou on March 15, 2012, 08:31:03 PM- well as i mentioned ages ago, here's some more info on the GB games I got, starting with the four random ones:
Spoiler: click to toggle
left to right, top to bottom:
* Harry Potter 3 - The shooter with Parodius music. Exactly the same as the dumped verison - the cart says it's an RPG but it lies.
* One of those House of Flying Daggers games, based on a hacked up Vast Fame engine with Telefang music. This one actually displays the Xiao Zi Tian Cai logo which is hidden in the dumped versions, so probably an original release?
* Red Alert 2 - Chinese translation of Cannon Fodder. The game's actual intro is hacked out (probably for space reasons, the original rom is 4mb) but they left in the intro from the release group who originally dumped it, and hacked their new title screen into that. But left the scrolling message untouched, naturally.
* Digimon D-3, for the Gamf Boy Advancef, rated F for Fucking Fantastic. Well its really just the same Digimon D-3 game I got earlier, only with an English title screen. I'm sure I've seen another game in this style of cart, though, which is now making me wonder if it was something interesting..
+ six loose Sintax games:Spoiler: click to toggle
* Lion King 3 - Doesn't work, same as my other copy ):
* Shaoling Legend - same as this (http://fuji.drillspirits.net/?post=105) but in Chinese and it has a BBD copyright on the title screen.. (It even still has a redundant save battery on the PCB)
* King of Fighters, or something - Really weird fighting game. The pause screen says KOF 2003 on it, so let's go with that. It doesn't seem to use the same engine as any other GB fighter, and while some parts seem to have had some effort put into them (some of the graphics are quite nice, albeit stolen from NGPC games I think, and they even went to the trouble of giving it a save feature and unlockable characters) it has no sound effects and just one incredibly ill-fitting music track playing throughout the entire game, and it's quite glitchy.
* Beggar Prince - yep, C&E's Beggar Prince, ported to the Game Boy.. by the same people who did those Flying Daggers games (although it was published by Sintax) which means Telefang music and a Vast Fame engine. and a lot of the NPC sprites seem to be from Pokemon and Zelda.
* Metal Max - I think that's what it is, anyway. seems like the dumped game.
* Langrisser II - or Langrsr II as the English version is known. a strategy RPG based very much on the same engine as that Fire Emblem game published by SKOB.- Title: Finds

Post by: codeman38 on April 23, 2012, 12:54:33 AM- While browsing around Qi Sheng Long's site, I discovered that they have a list of all 101 of Nanjing's 16-bit games from one of their consoles. Some of these I hadn't seen before.
http://www.qishenglong.com/doce/download/default.html (http://www.qishenglong.com/doce/download/default.html) - then click on the download link for "16 bits 101 in 1 game list & game photos".
One could almost play a game of 'spot the stolen assets' just from the provided screenshots. #82, "Triggerman 3", is especially blatant.
