Put the Megan Man 2 Woodman's music on repeat and I'm done :P
This is EXACTLY what I do when I listen to Mega Man 2's album, but repeat it for several Robot Master themes cool:
Mega Man 2's entire soundtrack has some of the most catchiest and diverse tracks that ever graced NES/Famicom hardware

Gimmick! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU0GEcU63qw) has a pretty rad soundtrack, as do many other Sunsoft games of the NES era. It's probably my most favorite NES soundtrack. I also quite like the music of the Fantasy Zone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNb7PRlugwY) series. Less specifically, a few amongst my favorite composers include artists such as Tim/Geoff Follin, Koji Kondo, Jake Kaufman, Manami Matsumae, and Jun Senoue; but there's just too many more to list..
Agreed. There isn't any other NES chip that can rival Sunsoft's bass. Fantasy Zone's soundtrack is pretty rad too! All of those composers you mentioned are all my inspiration to compose 80's and 90's videogame-style music, and like you said, there are too many good composers to list that I have my playlist loaded with! :pandahappy:
Ys book I and II for Turbo Grafx/PC Engine CD
Ernest Evan's for Mega CD
Many of the Valis games
The Touhou series for sure (I have a soft spot for Lotus land story)
The main Time Crisis series has some awesome tracks, especially the 4th one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5tLZJXUbs0)
And recently, Silent Scope: Bone Eater has a kick ass Japanese techno sound track, too bad the only one track on youtube is the attract theme since the game isn't officially released in the west, but I have played through the game in a Dave and Buster's
Super C's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX62F3k348Q) soundtrack is another amazing one. Lightning and Grenades is one of those 'first level' themes that never get old.
Silver Surfer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQlLl2j5THQ), despite being a very difficult game, has an absolutely AWESOME soundtrack. Tim Follin composed these amazing things for such a notoriously hard game.
Another 'first level' theme that I have a soft spot for is the Mission 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie5w31DtIw8) theme from Double Dragon. Just listen to that 8-bit guitar solo at 0:55-1:17 cool:
And, since most of us know that we love Mega Man 2's soundtrack, I know that all of you would enjoy Mega Man 9's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90jP3v1dpws) soundtrack. The whole thing feels like a real NES soundtrack and has many diverse tracks with one of my favorites being We're The Robots (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA4PAkrAVpQ). Mega Man 10's soundtrack didn't quite meet up with MM9, but my select songs from the game are Nitro Rider (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doxUxFsXCJs&list=PLB515D8556974AA5A&index=23) (by the great Manami Matsumae), Polluted Pump (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2QoEO7pjgc&index=31&list=PLB515D8556974AA5A), and my favorite one, Solar Inferno (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnRgCt94EaU&list=PLB515D8556974AA5A&index=22).
As for bootleg games, I have been fond of Super Game's music in their Aladdin, Lion King, and Earthworm Jim pirates (in which they sound pretty decent for a Taiwanese pirate), Lion King 5's music, which is MILES better than its predecessor, and like RobGBA said, Dial Q for the Mega Drive. It's kinda hilarious that such great music had to go into a typical, unlicensed mahjong porno game. (also, I think Hummer Team's AV Kyuukyoku Mahjong is likely a Famicom port of this game.)
Goodness, it feels like all of us are building a gigantic playlist and I just dumped a truckload on the construction site! :D
