Bootleg Bazaar / WTB: Famiclone
« on: September 27, 2011, 01:13:16 AM »
In case it's still an issue, Cheetah, the famiclones from VolumeRates suck ass, and so do all of their famicom carts. Cheap lame crap, cables about 1 inch long, and the power supply is actually NTSC for the unit I bought even though it runs games at PAL speed, which I think is kinda odd..

But yeah, I wouldn't reccomend it. I want to break the one I have just because it weighs about 0.0001 grams, and was just generally a dissappointment. <_<

Super Famicom/SNES / New reprints of SNES pirates now in circulation

Wow, those cartridges look really nice, actually. Would go well with those awesome new pieces of boxart posted recently on here :) Now if only the games were any good.. If someone would do this for NES pirates (Hummer Team, specifically), I'd be in heaven. I think that's literally the only console I've ever seen a worthwhile pirate for.. All the SNES stuff just feels like crap when you're playing it.

"Fish stick fish stick, where are you?" ROFL, that is now my 2nd favorite bootleg toy, only beaten by "Bear of Interest" simply because I love that title so much..

Damnit, I thought we may have had an original here.. I was considering dishing out the cash for this one. A Star Trek pirate sounds potentially badass.

Technology has come so far that video game piracy as we know it from the 90's is a basically pointless venture. Rather than going through the enourmous hassle of remaking an SNES game on the NES (like Master Fighter, for example) they can just get hundreds of games from any console over 10 years old (sometimes newer, but not often) and just cram them onto whatever device they want for a tiny cost, really.

Ive seen tons of iPhone like clones that boast multiple games in one device. It's usually just an NES/Sega/whatever emulator built in, and theres usually less than a gig of drive space.. Yet still, Ive seen famicom pirates from 2004 and 2005, when this technology was already easily clonable and accessable.. I don't understand how they can expect to turn a profit from these famicom multicarts/bootlegs still today, really all they end up being is a waste of space, if it isn't a genuinely fun pirate. But I guess it still makes money in some corners of the world, cause they're STILL producing them.

I'd think it would cost less and sell more just to ditch the famicom crap altogether, and plop out more of these iPhone clones, but I suppose they just want to have all bases covered..

When you download that zip file, If a folder called 'special' is in there, delete it immediately.. AVG detected a threat from some "Tabula Rosa II" thing inside the file or something. Didn't really seem to do anything, but I'd recommend deleting it nonetheless, just as a warning.

Thanks a lot for this upload, by the way! :D

Mega Drive/Genesis / Printable covers for pirate games!
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:30:31 AM »
Wow, awesome artwork, this is a great contribution.. If I ever get a copy of Pocket Monster that will definitely be the cover I use. I'd really like to see this for the Hummer Team NES pirates. I've started working on some where I just rip the highest resoloution version of the 'real' artwork I can find.. like this:

The reproduction artwork I've chosen, as compared to a legitimate copy of Kart Fighter

Of course, this is sticker artwork for the cartridge, but the concept still applies. It feels much more authentic to have these things as close to what the pirates originally intended as possible. :P

(P.S. - Yours is 100x more creative.)

I TRIED TO TELL YOU GUYS
Um, not to cause offence or anything but what did you try to tell us?
That it was either Mr. Nutz, or any other existing SNES game... Or that it was full of candy and drugs.. Or something.

I supposed you could ask people to PM you things such as direct links. I mean, basically all of this stuff is pirated anyway... It's not like it's a "bad thing" to give someone a copy... Though I know some some people look down on it for some odd reason.

Woot, I'll be listening to these too and reviewing a couple of them :P them. In fact, I can easily upload a video to youtube that will be faithful to the original sound.. Would you like me to do that for a few of these?

Famicom/NES / Super Mario Party (NES)
« on: August 07, 2011, 11:57:30 AM »
Not meaning to push this even further off topic, but I was recently watching that really common 76 in 1 famicom cart, and just by bids alone it got up to ~70 US dollars.. I think the starting bid was like 5 dollars or something. funny thing is, I've seen the same cartridge go from an Asia based seller for about 20 bucks. :X

Silly collectors.

THE MAN IS A GENIUS. I was wondering when this would be made.. My cousin is going overseas to Europe, and he's planning to pick up some bootlegs if he can find some :D Now I've got a -decent- spot to sell some, when and if he's successful..

$150? Is there no shame these days? I've felt guilty for selling NES games for $20 before :x Collectors items are cool and all, but.. Emulation makes it pointless to waste THAT much. Wonder if anyone will be gullible enough to fork out that much? Hopefully not.
