BarverJul 10 2011, 03:58:59 AMIt'd be great if we had some Russian friends here who could help, there's some things I want to buy but can't since they're Russia only.[/quote]Yeah, Ive just never been too big on buying from China due to the fact that you honestly have no idea if it's going to work at all. Ive ordered many things from there, through easy to use Engrish websites... But even then it 99% of the time breaks or is already broken. Not a big loss, because I usually spend less than 10 dollars on AV cables, power adaptors, socks, pants - none of it ever seems to be 'as advertised' from China, whereas at least with Russia, I know I'd not only be able to get whatever knockoff Dendy games I want, but that it will at least have to be better than my experiences with ordering from China. But I guess that's not really an issue, since it's practically impossible until we meet a person whos willing to go out and buy/sell for us. :P

On a related note, can you guys list to me a few sites you have used before for ordering plug and play/cheap famicom stuff from China, or anywhere for that matter? I've looked around a bit but no sites Im finding seem to specialise in delivering cheap video games, and the last time I ordered a 'plug N play' without any outside help, it was NOTHING like expected... Or sometimes, everything Im interested in is sold out and then I'm stuck without a second place to look. Some of this may sound a bit n00by, but I just never seem to come accross the right places.

there is one handheld console I want to buy from Russia, the distributors website has a country selection and i nearly went through with ordering until I remembered I don't actually have any damn money. so I have no idea if they actually would ship internationally or what payment methods they'd accept if they do, none of that stuff is on the website so I guess they email you the details after you place an order.

as for China, i've never found many sites that actually sell plug & play consoles or pirate games directly - DealExtreme occasionally gets stuff in (usually handheld famiclones) and Volumerates has a growing selection of cheap multicarts and Famicom/Mega Drive clones, but your best bet if you want to find something interesting is probably ordering from taobao through an agent (unless thats what you were doing already, in which case i apologise for stating the obvious :D) although that can get kinda expensive with all the various fees they add on.

i've tried a few different agents, Yoybuy seems to be the best so far (and their shipping isnt too extortionate if its under 2kg and you go with China Post small packet rate). i bought two plug & play consoles (the Samuri and one other) and a few gameboy games through them and everything worked out fine. i went through about three different sellers for the Samuri before I found one that actually had it, but that always seems to be the way with taobao - sellers always keep listings up even if they don't have any stock.

Just wondering, if you buy off Taobao do you need an account on there or just one for the agent that you're buying it from?

taizou:
you only need an account with the agent - AFAIK you can't register a Taobao account at all if you don't live in China.

Thanks for the info. :thumb:
