Got it, thanks! I've added Taizou and Cheetahmen as admins, so whatever you guys think needs to be done, don't hesitate :)
thanks! :D i'll get to
abusing my power fixing up the navigation and stuff.
oh yeah, i think it'd be better to have the actual images (rather than the game pages) in the publisher categories - that way you get an overview of, say, everything released by NT just by browsing that category, rather than having to click through to each game page to see the NT version.
Good idea. I also thought that there should be lists, pretty much like what CaH4e3's site has, that lists each game in order of their ID. The ID lists wouldn't show pics though, but rather be like this:
NT 001 [[Game Name]]
The [[]] around it linking to the game page. Then people can look through the gallery and find for themselves the cart that says ID: NT001. Helpful for keeping track of new discoveries, since as you can tell by looking at CaH4e3's site alone, there's a HUGE amount of game IDs from many publishers still unaccounted for.
I still wonder when I see IDs that go over 8000 or so if the 8 really represents the thousands place, or something else. Cuz that's a hell of a lot of carts in the world if so many publishers went that far.
Got distracted a bit since my brother visited. Probably will be continuing to post pics mindlessly soon.
I'm definitely faving this page.
I continue to be way too amused by how fractally wrong some of these cartridge labels are.
It's especially amazing to me how some bootleggers create perfectly reasonable art, some are off but still understandable, and some are just on some other planet entirely. Like Kyattou Ninden Teyandee (http://piratedgamemuseum.wikia.com/wiki/Kyattou_Ninden_Teyandee). Some of the carts actually feature decent art of the Pizza Cats, one of which isn't even from the original cart. Some of them use pictures of other cats (including Garfield), which is... at least on the right track, if not ideal. And then there are LEE02014 and K1119, which have... foxes. (From works whose names include the word "fox", even.)
I've always been fond of the simplicity of this one:
There is indeed a duck, and judging by the background, there will certainly be some adventures of which some tales can be told. Some piraters know how to convey these titles through such surreal art. It makes you think. Maybe they're deeper than we give them credit for.
And sometimes they use completely random material which has nothing to do with the game. Mind you, multicarts are a good way of finding unfitting images and names. I have a 190-in-1 which shows a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog on the front, even though he doesn't actually appear in any of the games. (One of them is called Bedgehog on the menu, but it's just a hack of Super Mario Bros.), a 7-in-1 which shows an image from Star Wars for Bucky O'Hare and the manual for Contra: The Alien Wars for Super Contra 6, a 112-in-1 which has too many errors to list and a 4-in-1 which manages to confuse Knight Rider for Super Mario Kart.
Someone sabotaged the site a bit, but they didn't do much. Wondering if it was a bot or not. IP was 122.106.1.163.
Wondering if I should up the security on the site in any way...
The IP is owned by an australian website, no idea if many bots are from australia...

Can anyone else confirm that you can click the add picture to gallery button and it works? It suddenly refuses to work for me in any browser :(
Edit: It partially works...now whenever I upload a photo it does nothing. I don't have any idea if this has something to do with that person that was doing nonsense last night, or if it's just bad timing for wikia to be glitching up or what :(
I just uploaded a picture I had on my comp, it worked perfectly
Working for me the past couple hours, no idea what was wrong...
So I'm still proving incompetent to fixing my own wiki :X The Famicom page is still set for deletion thanks to that spammer a couple days back. How do I fix it so it's not a candidate for deletion anymore?
you just have to remove {{Delete}} from the page. i've done it anyway. :D i swear i'll contribute some of my own stuff soon, when im less busy and all
That shows how bad I am at this, I saw it said to remove {{Delete}}, yet I couldn't even figure out how to do it. I must look the fool haha.
I've still got loads and loads of cart pics I haven't put up yet, I gotta find more other systems though since it's still a famicom. It's been fun since I've been discovering things not seen though, like Donkey Kong Country 4 with an ID of EL-033. Plus the original EWJ2 from Super Game from Sugar softec. And some NT carts not even on CaH4e3's list, which obviously is missing a lot of unaccounted stuff still.
There are pirated carts for even licenced games such as Sonic 1, 2, 3, and knucckles. you can find them at sonicology also sonic and knuckles pirates lack the lock on due to lazyness probably or only technology SEGA can handle.
Uh...duh? Pirates for licensed carts? You don't say!?

also sonic and knuckles pirates lack the lock on due to lazyness probably or only technology SEGA can handle.
I'm pretty sure that's both. The extra parts required for the lock-on would be hard to find and rather expensive from what I understand, and pirates tend to the route which benefits them more than anyone.
I think you should add gameboy (the original) and gameboy color to the system list
I'll do that whenever I start looking for GB carts. I've been on hiatus since I got tired of constantly uploading things, no one else is adding either :x Guess it still needs to get its name out there, but for the moment I'm assuming there's no rush, and I've also been caught up in a game I started playing that takes up a lot of my time lol. I'll probably start putting things up again once it's done.
I would love to add things, but this is the place I come to learn all that I know about pirated games :c..The classic gaming market in Australia is a complete fail. Its hard as hell to find liscensed stuff, and pirates are basically out of the question. There needs to be an ebay user who lives in China or Russia or something who just buys loads of pirated famicom and sega games and re sells them. Id be willing to sped the money for the sake of pirate research, Im actually considering going to russia and going on a big pirate shopping spree xD...
For the sake of research!

Not quite as bad for me because I happen to live in a dilapidated town with several pawn shops which normally have a few older games for sale, but still. Of course, pirate carts are very rare here as you'd expect. I'd probably go to places where pirate carts are easier to find, but I don't exactly have that kind of money. <_<
Same here. Here in Croatia it's the same. Pirated carts are very little known.
It's curious: here in Argentina, everything Famicom and Mega Drive is 100% pirate... literally. However, the games are increasingly harder to find, since those systems are pretty old. Even like that, you can find pirate Famicoms almost everywhere. Now, if I just had the money... I can't believe I lost my Y2K 64-in-1 cartridge which for some reason included Ikki instead of the Donkey Kong Jr. hack which is on the dumped version of the cart XD Not saying it's a rarity... I just like Ikki.
Is this wiki still running? Because not to much people add to it.
I've ignored it for a couple months or more now. It's still there for people to add to, but apparently no one else cares to :x I only stopped since I was the only one adding anything, and it was getting tiring.
Not that I hold that against anyone, I've still got lots more to add but just never have found the motivation to do it yet =p
Ok just checking. But I add alot to it like pages, and more photos :)

But I was thinking... You can buy those games for ~$2 AU, if you convert it to russian rubles and use it over there (ive seen them on Russian sites for that much, but they never seem to ship Dendy games out of Russia...) Maybe I can find a site that does if I keep searching but its starting to seem unlikely. If anyone does find an easy way to order Dendy games online, let us all know please. 0:)
Think about it, People pay upwards of $60 for these things on ebay, sometimes it gets even more ridiculous than that, simply because they dont know any other way of attaining them. I dont know, It could be a way to pay for a plane ticket and more, in the end. Buy 40 games for less than $100, sell them all on ebay starting at 40 bucks.. they'd go like hotcakes and You'd be raking in the cash. But I havent exactly built up the balls to go on this global venture, just in case it puts me too far in the red with my money.. But it certinaly wouldnt be a waste. If nothing else, I'll have visited Russia, and thats cool in itself. :P
there are plenty of agents that will buy stuff online for you from Chinese sites, maybe there are some in Russia too? i didn't find much from a quick google though. afaik its hard for non-Russians to buy from Russian sites directly because paypal doesn't operate there.
Yeah, Russians can only send paypal but can't receive cash. Stupidity :/ Only option is stupid Western Union, which always no matter what doesn't like the information the seller will give you, and you will have to go through a huge hassle to get it corrected. I hate it.
It'd be great if we had some Russian friends here who could help, there's some things I want to buy but can't since they're Russia only.

It'd be great if we had some Russian friends here who could help, there's some things I want to buy but can't since they're Russia only.
Yeah, Ive just never been too big on buying from China due to the fact that you honestly have no idea if it's going to work at all. Ive ordered many things from there, through easy to use Engrish websites... But even then it 99% of the time breaks or is already broken. Not a big loss, because I usually spend less than 10 dollars on AV cables, power adaptors, socks, pants - none of it ever seems to be 'as advertised' from China, whereas at least with Russia, I know I'd not only be able to get whatever knockoff Dendy games I want, but that it will at least have to be better than my experiences with ordering from China. But I guess that's not really an issue, since it's practically impossible until we meet a person whos willing to go out and buy/sell for us. :P
On a related note, can you guys list to me a few sites you have used before for ordering plug and play/cheap famicom stuff from China, or anywhere for that matter? I've looked around a bit but no sites Im finding seem to specialise in delivering cheap video games, and the last time I ordered a 'plug N play' without any outside help, it was NOTHING like expected... Or sometimes, everything Im interested in is sold out and then I'm stuck without a second place to look. Some of this may sound a bit n00by, but I just never seem to come accross the right places.
there is one handheld console I want to buy from Russia, the distributors website has a country selection and i nearly went through with ordering until I remembered I don't actually have any damn money. so I have no idea if they actually would ship internationally or what payment methods they'd accept if they do, none of that stuff is on the website so I guess they email you the details after you place an order.
as for China, i've never found many sites that actually sell plug & play consoles or pirate games directly - DealExtreme (http://www.dealextreme.com) occasionally gets stuff in (usually handheld famiclones) and Volumerates (http://www.volumerates.com) has a growing selection of cheap multicarts and Famicom/Mega Drive clones, but your best bet if you want to find something interesting is probably ordering from taobao through an agent (unless thats what you were doing already, in which case i apologise for stating the obvious :D) although that can get kinda expensive with all the various fees they add on.
i've tried a few different agents, Yoybuy (http://www.yoybuy.com) seems to be the best so far (and their shipping isnt too extortionate if its under 2kg and you go with China Post small packet rate). i bought two plug & play consoles (the Samuri and one other) and a few gameboy games through them and everything worked out fine. i went through about three different sellers for the Samuri before I found one that actually had it, but that always seems to be the way with taobao - sellers always keep listings up even if they don't have any stock.
Just wondering, if you buy off Taobao do you need an account on there or just one for the agent that you're buying it from?
you only need an account with the agent - AFAIK you can't register a Taobao account at all if you don't live in China.
Thanks for the info. :thumb:

sellers always keep listings up even if they don't have any stock.
I can't stand how often that happens. That one seller called soundgarden has a lot of items like this, including a Metal Slug from Sintax that stayed up even after being told it was not in stock anymore. Such a shame sellers are so lazy there.
DealExtreme looks interesting.. Those are the kind of things that I love to get. They're always a bit wacky.. :P
As for Volumerates, I just ordered from them. If it's good I'll be buyting from there again, it was waay easy.
