Printable covers for pirate games!
« on: August 11, 2011, 10:34:37 AM »
My first post!  Figure, I should share these here.

The covers are formatted for standard Sega clamshells and Universal Game Cases (UGC).  They're saved at either 250 or 300 dpi, so they're ready to print.  All you need is a good printer, and some nice paper.

Unlicensed/Pirate Games

Note: Most of the unlicensed games of Chinese/Taiwanese origin have trouble running on real hardware so beware before you get a repro of any them.  Most of the roms of these games however have an [f1] version available which is fixed to run on real hardware.  Always use that version.  Ideally though, if you can, try to test them on a flashcart if you or a friend have one.  All of these games have a fixed version of the roms, so they're good to go for real hardware.

I also have covers for unreleased games, rom hacks, translations, etc... but I'm not sure if it's appropriate to put em here.  They're in my sig if you want them.

Wasn't the English translation of Barver Battle Saga released on the Mega Drive a couple of years back?

Taking bets: how long until we start seeing these labels on actual bootlegs?  They already did that with Sonic Megamix...

Nice job, though!  I would love to see a drawn cover for Gamtec's early stuff.

Yeah I'm surprised it's taking this long for people to catch on and start using them.  I've had these up on various sites for a while now, I'm a little disappointed.

Wow, awesome artwork, this is a great contribution.. If I ever get a copy of Pocket Monster that will definitely be the cover I use. I'd really like to see this for the Hummer Team NES pirates. I've started working on some where I just rip the highest resoloution version of the 'real' artwork I can find.. like this:

The reproduction artwork I've chosen, as compared to a legitimate copy of Kart Fighter

Of course, this is sticker artwork for the cartridge, but the concept still applies. It feels much more authentic to have these things as close to what the pirates originally intended as possible. :P

(P.S. - Yours is 100x more creative.)

I just realised something, one problem with these box arts is that they're a bit too authentic for this sort of thing in my opinion, and I'm pretty sure some people would be willing to take advantage of that. You should probably put "Reproduction cart" or something on it to deter that.

No offence to djshok or anyone else who produces them, but it annoys me to see people on FW or wherever else selling repros. -_-
