Hell yah, coop mode found at last! And it's better than Harry's Lege-- WAIT. HOW IS THAT FREAKING POSSIBLE?! An earlier game has better coding than it's update?!

Crash Nicker  faints.

i just noticed the sound is completely out of sync. grr
That's a dead point of my capture card too. Maybe VirtualDub's video/audio sync might help?

Too bad I'll never definitely know if Steepler really had imported Game Genies or if it's what I just did is the retranslation of Joystick's article

Little question. If this multicart has no title screens on Jack & Rose, then does that 3-in-1 multicart with Titenic have them?

Edit: Oh, wow. Something I never realized in Harry's Legend until now: if you press B+A in stage 2 and up, you can throw a broom. And it uses up some of your life meter in doing so.
That's what I found out before :P

Did Russia get a lot of pirates at around about the same time that they were released in Asia? Seeing as they got Somari in 1994, I wouldn't be surprised.
If you mean pirates themselves, then NO., Steepler was the only feelable pirate at the moment (and its' first appearence was in the end of 1992), before, during it and after, black market ruled the world (so, it's mainly import from China sold by random people). If you mean pirate originals, then I definitely say YES. Not only there were pirate multicarts, but from the info I got from (Video-Uss Dendy magazine), even Dian Shi Mali made it to Russia! (however, there it was called 'Japanese Mario', by a reader).

Later on, of course, somewhere around 1996, Steepler got into trouble with the opponent companies. And, to be honest, nobody won in this war.

In fact, one one proof that Harry's Legend IS based off Titenic. Or vice versa, if the coop mechanism turns out to be better than in HL.

gryzorr:
Funny thing is, when you press second cotroller's A button twice, second player appears and game starts to behave insane :D What's more, press A and then using left/right you can switch through characters to choose... not all can be controlled though.

Anyone tested this? I tested. And LOOKIES! :JY:

(yes, I have a bad ROM, blame me)

Both Harries are controlled simultaneously from one gamepad, no matter if it will be the first or second player's. Haven't figured out where to use the debug feature though...

Well, as I said above, if Titenic's coop code is better than Harry Legend's, than it may be possible that HL came out first. What bugs me, however, is that the chicken enemy and the illuminator BG sprites used in Titenic are present in Harry's Legend too, just buried. So... DAMMIT WHO CAME FIRST?!
Update. So it seems like I can do little in the debug mode...

Here what I've discovered:

THE DEBUG MODE.

That should give some extra clues.

What I also found out is that (at least) summonable enemies may sometimes kick others' asses and even grab 1UPs!... But that's off the topic.
Another update, because I have nuffin' to do.

Will Lord of the Rings be a fighting game? :faint:

I have abandoned the BootlegGames Wiki articles that are done only by me (because no one else knows what to add in it :P ), so now I think I should get back to expanding it and try to make up a complete picture of what happened to Steepler.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions or suggestions about what was there and how it was, ask them HERE.

Like, codeman asked if there actually was Sonic CD's USA version imported to Russia. Even despite I actually answered this long ago, I'll say that, well, there may be mixed regions. I know kinda very little about SEGA CD invading the muddahrusshah (in fact, there was not that much of what I've found), but the only hint is that in episode one of season one, this thing was called 'SEGA CDX' and reviewed 'Ecco the Dolphin' in its' original packaging. But for now, I'll just say it's region mixing.

Also, subtitles... ACK. Don't feel like doing them now.

Basically, the sources. This spoiler is yet to grow.

Either it's a resell (pure NT) or JY just decided to release this cart under 'NT' code for some reason.

I also wonder if Titanic had cutscenes... Harry's Legend had ones (nicely done IMO), but if Titanic has them... would they be in Chinese?

Offtopic... They COULD rehack the enemies so they would use Sonic's shoes's palette... couldn't they, theoretically?
