My Russian copy of Top Fighter 2000 MK VIII arrived in the mail today (in a small box, so likely the Megadrive Portable version) When I tried to put it in my Megadrive, it wouldn't fit no matter how I tried to insert it. Does anyone have a solution to this problem??

Does the cart use the Japanese Mega Drive design? If so, you'll need an adapter of some sort to get it to fit in a US/EU Mega Drive.

No, it's in a Euro/US shell with strange wavy lines on the side, but they don't seem to affect the shape.
I bought it on Ebay, here's a picture of the complete copy I bought: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/TOP-Fighter-2000-MK-VIII-8-Sega-Genesis-Mega-Drive-game-New-Russian-/00/s/OTYwWDEyODA=/z/U50AAOSwNSxVYacj/$_57.JPG (http://i.ebayimg.com/t/TOP-Fighter-2000-MK-VIII-8-Sega-Genesis-Mega-Drive-game-New-Russian-/00/s/OTYwWDEyODA=/z/U50AAOSwNSxVYacj/$_57.JPG)

Lots of Russian games use a shell that looks like a US/EU shell but is several mm thicker, almost the size of a 32x game. Those won't fit in an official Sega system at all and only fit in clone consoles.

I feared that...

You might want to import a Megadrive clone from Russia. That's what I've done.

The problem is, all of them look like total...turd and I wouldn't want to have them in my house...So far the best looking one and the one I'd accept would be this: http://segaretro.org/images/0/0f/MegaDriveX.jpg (http://segaretro.org/images/0/0f/MegaDriveX.jpg)
And it seems to run JPN, EU and US carts all flawlessly, plus, it has language settings and an overclock feature! So if I'm gonna get a...uh...ingenious name needed that combines the words Mega Drive/Genesis and clone!...it's definitely going to be that one
