I have read on Youtube and some sites that Sonic the Hedgehog on NES has Scrap Brain Zone, which is unfinished but still accessible through savestate hacking. Does anybody know how to open it? As I understood it requires hex-editing software to do this, but I am not very familiar with such things (I have tried to make some Russian translations of NES games using Hexposure and Tile Layer Pro with no luck about 3 years ago and didn't come back to editing/hacking games since that). Tried to find a manual on savestate hacking for this exact game but it seems nobody knows about it. Can you help me on this issue? I want to look at the level design and know if there is some music for this level. Thanks :)

Somehow, I doubt it exists.

I've done it before, I need to check the address again. However, it's a complete mess. It loads the Final Zone's title card, the graphics and collision is all out of whack and I don't think there was any music.

Just out of interest, does the zone bear any resemblance (graphics or level design) to Scrap Brain? If not, it could just be like world 9 in Super Mario where it wasn't intended to be a level in the game.

The palette was somewhat similar to the original Scrap Brain Zone's and is the same one used for the Final Zone I believe.
Wow my memory was horrible. It used Star Light Zone's music. Well, The Cutting Room Floor has the savestate you can use:

Oh thank you so much :) It's a pity they didn't finish the level in a proper way.

you can also use the game genie code
IAEEILZA
this code will work for sonic the hedgehog
