Title: KOF96 published by NT
Post by: KingPepe on August 19, 2010, 01:18:06 PM
I know there's a KOF96 published by JY but going through CaH43e's page, I found this:
Is it possible the ROM going around is really the NT one? The JY Urchin in it is glitched but this could be a case like how Super Mario World has a glitched JY Urchin (and on the full version, it isn't).

Either it's a resell (pure NT) or JY just decided to release this cart under 'NT' code for some reason.

Either it's a resell (pure NT) or JY just decided to release this cart under 'NT' code for some reason.[/quote]It cannot be a resell. it would still include the JY logo. For exemple: NT took almost all JY boards of China Rabbit Baby and then resell the game under NT id with a new label.
JY logo is included in the game which means it was made for JY. Not NT.

Also, did you real compare the JY logo between SMW and KOF96 ? SMW is a bit glitched with few graphics missing. On KOG96, the JY logo isn't even in the CHR ! Which means it was removed.

My guess is that KoF96 was originally sold by JY Company but then Hummer Team stopped using them as the distributor for whatever reason and quickly switched to NT afterwards.

they probably cut the CHR size down for the NT release too. thatd explain the extra character names in the rom and the JY logo's CHR bank being completely missing rather than just blanked out. although that'd mean if there was a full version out there, itd be at least 1MB, which would make it the largest known Hummer game AFAIK, and indeed the joint largest unlicensed NES game that isnt an RPG or multicart (shared with Street Heroes)
