Disgusting, these are all just reproductions and not the originals. You'd be better off getting the ROM than these.

That's kinda cool, I like the labels the guy made for the games. Though I don't know if paying "30-40 dollars" for, let's say, a NES copy of Magic Jewelry or Dragon Co.'s games worth it.

Quite frankly, I completely despise reproductions. If you're gonna collect games, do it the right way and get the original versions.

i don't mind reproductions as a concept if someone just wants to play a rare/expensive/unreleased/translated/hacked/etc game on real hardware. its not always easy or even possible to find original carts of games like that. i only have a problem with it if the seller is doing it for a profit (i'm not entirely convinced that two EPROM chips and a copy of the cheapest TSROM game going, plus a few minutes soldering time, is worth $40) then theyre just straying into the realms of straight up bootlegging.

but then for the price of like four of those you could just get a powerpak and play anything you like. i think it supports mapper 90 now (JY's mapper) so all the decent Hummer Team games should be playable, the only JY games that guy has are Tekken and Aladdin which are presumably the crap mapper hacks. and most of his labels kinda suck if you ask me.

Doubt that bloke has it though.

Reproductions are dumb mostly thanks to how they're done. Mostly it's people who think they're helping the community and try to get away with it that way, but they completely fail to make it obvious it's a repro by not putting any signs of it anywhere. They even put the Nintendo Seal of Quality, as if that's supposed to mean something. Makes them no better than bootlegs in that case, and no matter how obvious it is that it's a repro, unless they out text that says "reproducton copy" on it or something like that, there will always be people who fail for it. Add to that the high prices which don't seem to make sense most of the time, and they're just taking advantage of people.

There are some that are done right though, but I can't recall them at the moment.

RetroZone/RetroUSB ?
They are making money on everything they can. Donkey Kong Country Pie level (from the PAL red Wii): $28. They are reselling Nintendo stuff for a lot of money. (Also those VS games). But they do make it obvious it's a repro.

The logo that they came up with was horrible (it has Wario and Waluigi in it, what the fuck?) So I took the image of Super Mario kart that the pirates used/edited, but just left it the way it was and used that.. it looks much, MUCH more legit.. After I did that I put text on the bottom of the image that said "NES reproduction" and the guy actually asked me if I wanted to replace it with a seal of quality and copyright stuff! I was just like... dude, why the hell would I want a seal of quality on a repro of a pirate, seriously?

I LOVE REPOS! YOU GUYS are kinda right about how there not the real deal, but still, THERE NOT (well, it's debatable) ILLEGAL ROMS, THAT'S FOR SURE!

Maybe, but you need those illegal ROMs to make them in the first place.

Pretty much how a repro is made is they find the ROM, slap it on some NES cartridge and sell it. That is why I said you would be better off with the ROM then getting these. (Like Taizou, it makes a good concept but with a price so damn high, it's not worth it)
