Taking apart Micro Genius?

A friend of mine picked up an untested Micro Genius IQ-501 system. The provided AC adaptor didn't seem to work, and other AC adapters did not seem to do anything either. I tried opening it up, but I can't seem to lift the front because of the buttons. Does anyone have any info on how to take off the cover without breaking it?
