Google Maps' April Fools gag

Google never fails to amuse during April Fool's Day. And this time, Google Maps has introduced a new feature that's totally relevant to this forum.

No idea how long past April Fool's Day it will stay up, but right now, if you go to Google Maps and click on "Quest", you'll be able to browse the entire map in this mode.

Yes, the entire map can be viewed in 8-bit style a la Dragon Quest. They even used my Press Start font. *squee*

They even have several landmarks 8-bit-ified. So far, I've found the main building of MIT; the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower in France; several monuments in Washington... oh, and every Google office has two Googlers standing there on the map.

Might be worth noting that the graphics in the overworld view (or whatever it's called in Google Maps) are from Dragon Warrior.

Also worth pointing out that you can find random pictures if you zoom in and look hard enough.

Oh my god, that's awesome.  It certainly fits my area, seeing all the overgrown fields, trees, and animals around here.
