When I was in high school, I discovered NES World and tsr's NES Archives, among other pages, and thus became entangled in the weird and wacky world of bootleg games.  I collected NES games for around 10 years, then quit and sold everything off, as college moved into my life and gaming moved out.

When I moved a few years back, I ended up having my interest creep back into me.  I had gone to a shop and found a couple old Gowin GB B/W games for sale, and passed them up...I then went home and saw what they really were, and went back and grabbed them.  From that point, I was hooked.

Fcgamer and awesome panda can you make a list of all the games you have please?
It is certainly possible, though I actually don't have any list with all of the bootleg / generic multicarts and stuff like that I have.

For my main collection though, I have it documented (well my Famicom stuff), but I haven't made it public.  But the reverse is perhaps possible:

Here is a list of what I am currently looking to get for my collection.  So if it is not on this list, there is a large chance I have it.  ;)

We shouldn't place too much reliance on cart casings and stuff like that though.  Remember guys, casings are generic, and many of these companies use whatever comes to them cheapest.  We have also seen Gowin games in generic cases, and I've even seen some multis in Sachen cases, so maybe they were able to get a deal or something from some factory extras.

Game Boy / We have pirated gba games

Yup, taizou has it right.  If there is a copy sitting somewhere in Taiwan, it is only god knows where.  This stuff has stopped being sold years and years ago, and by now most of the old shops have dried up completely.

As for Star Wars games, I have a GBC SW game by Sintax.

stumbled across this Aliexpress store just now:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/138988
they have a bunch of older Famiclones, some interesting keyboard clones with floppy drives (the shipping absolutely kills on these though), parts, flashcarts and other stuff.

they're also making new old-style (ie all discrete components, no NOACs/globtops) Famiclone PCBs:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/DIY-8-Bit-HOT-selling-8-bit-hardware-system-Number-1-Simply-the-best/138988_32284957657.html
I'm honestly not sure the appeal of that site and why it is getting so much press.  As I mentioned on Famicom World, the prices of the old clones are quite expensive.  If you look on ebay, most of the clones that sell for such high prices are the boxed clones from the time, which are much, much harder to find than just a bare-bones unit.  At one point I was even giving the old clones away at cost of shipping, I had so many and no one (on Famicom World anyway) had much of an interest at all.

With the new old-style stuff, I can see the interest, but the rest is just overpriced and overhyped imo.

Nice story, thanks for sharing :)  Where are you from in SA Asia?

Game Boy / Gowin Games GS-14
« on: March 03, 2015, 12:22:07 AM »
I don't think there is / was a GS-14, at least that has been discovered.

I remember back when I was trying to complete my set of Gowin games, and then over the summer I guess, I had finally "completed" it.  Then a contact from elsewhere in Asia had contacted me and asked if I had wanted to purchase GS-01, and it was the first time I ever heard anything about it, thus picking it up.  In the western world, I think GS-01 is totally unknown until now.

So maybe there is a GS-14, but if there is, it must be very rare, as I have never seen it before, also not on the old website.

1984-1992 / Found a very rare Double Dragon 2

I would disagree, and suspect that maybe it was for a 72 pin Pegasus console.  Micro Genius did the development for Pegasus and Dendy both, IIRC, and they did end up making some 72 pin machines for the Western market.

The cart is a Whirlwind Manu label L Series Famicom cart, probably Famicom board with adapter inside too.

2000-present / Weird Famicom handhelds - worth buying?
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:43:52 AM »
I used to have some of these, maybe not exactly the same but similar to yours, and I got rid of them.  The control pads I always found to be not very good, and sometimes the games included were hacked versions, i.e. infinite lives and shit like that.  Nothing really very good for playing, imo.  I'd rather play real software on a true Famicom portable than something like this.

The game was bundled with Famiclones, pretty sure that is how it was distributed.

The Big Old Arcade / NES x SMS

I grew up with the NES...from what I have seen, the NES is better, though the SMS is not so far behind.  If I were to collect another gaming machine, it would be SMS

Game Boy / Gowin Games GS-14
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:03:33 PM »
I was checking through my Gowin collection tonight to help out another collector, with whom I have been chatting with online.  I then discovered something horrible:  I own all of the Gowin games, #1 - #18, plus a few different art variations, and the two known multi-game packs....but...I seem to be missing GS-14, whatever that is.  Maybe that game is sitting in my collection and I somehow overlooked it, or maybe I have been thinking that I had a complete Gowin game collection for the past 6 months, when in fact, I am missing one of the games.

Therefore, I wonder (and hope someone can help me):  what game is number GS-14?

Game Boy / Sachen 4-in-1
« on: February 16, 2015, 12:34:54 AM »
The ones on ebay are most likely the Color version of the games, but thrown into b/w case extras.  The reason I think that is because I got these (link below) from the same region, around the same time, and they were all GBC versions, to my disappointment:

I don't know about the status of dumps; I do have a few of the 4 in 1 packs (brand new) up for grabs, if you are interesting in actually owning some of these (the ones I have are the GBC versions though)
