Title: Jing Ke Xin Zhuan
Post by: taizou on August 22, 2010, 02:21:22 PM
has anyone played much of this game? I'd quite like to finish it - since it's (I think) a completely original game, and its in Chinese, I think it'd be quite likely to have real names in the credits. so it may be a way to find out the real name of, at the very least, a Someri/Hummer music guy, seeing as it uses the SF2 sound engine.

but slightly embarrasingly i'm down at the first hurdle - I can't figure out how to get out of the damn town you start in.

Yeah, I tried playing it but I got stuck there as well. It'd help if someone who knew Chinese played through it.

btw the tune from that bloody first town is also used in the story mode of Shisen Mahjong 2. and they both kinda remind me of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16zuxuDWL44) in parts, but maybe thats just me.

To get out of the first town you have to go to the very bottom left house and then search the pots. The search option is the very bottom option when you press A. Once you find the item you need you go back to the main palace or whatever and talk to the guy in there(talking is done by choosing the first option that comes up when pressing A, if anyone doesn't know). Once that conversation is over open up the menu with A again, choose the third option, and use the only item you have.

Essentially the whole point of this is to get some item that allows you to do a crow like a rooster, so the guards get tricked into thinking it's daytime and they'll open the gate at the bottom of the city for you =p

:D thanks.

crowing like a rooster to trick them into thinking its daytime is possibly the best way to get (generic guards) to let you out of (generic starting town) that i've seen in any rpg ever. and i've seen a lot of them.

The method of text scrolling in this game is really annoying. Only four characters on the screen at once!

Incidentally, is this possibly the first ever game using this sound engine? I mean, it's from 1992. That's pretty early by Taiwanese pirate standards.

(Edit: Yeah, it's from the same year as SF2; for some reason I thought that was from a later year. So either of those might be the first; it's a chicken-and-egg thing...)

The battle music sounds strangely like Sugico's stage from AV Girl Fighting but without that high triangle.

EDIT: Ok, anyone mine telling me where to find a weapon and the cost of it? (Unless they're in that armor shop)

Weapons are in the shop with the character 武 on the front. The guide I'm reading recommends buying the items 布衣 and 譚鞋 for equipment, and 白露 for restoring health.

With Barver at hand, this game will go down. Especially if I have a say on it... :P

Heh. I might play through it myself, though I recently promised myself I'd start getting into Amiga gaming. I agree with what was said above btw, whoever designed the way text displays in this game wasn't thinking right :X

Good to see that someone managed to figure this thing out. The battle music is definitely an earlier version of Sugico's stage of AV Bishoujo Senshi Girl Fighting. Also, going through the graphics in the rom, the 2 in the 1992 copyright is in the middle of the title screen graphics and seperate from the rest of the text. Maybe development on this game started in 1991?

Any ideas what these items are?

It was on the hut on the overworld map (near the inn).

http://fcfantasy.cn/sprays/jing_ke_xin_zhuan/ (http://fcfantasy.cn/sprays/jing_ke_xin_zhuan/) I recently found this page through searching on Google images. Apparently, someone made maps of the areas in this game. Problem is, I think you need to sign up to download them and seeing as the site's in Chinese, that's a bit of a problem.

It was on the hut on the overworld map (near the inn).[/quote]All those items are for health and such. All I can say is the very top item cures poison. The rest of the, well, they got names but they sure don't hint at what they do. Some could replenish health, other MP(if the game uses MP?). Probably should make a savestate then buy them and test what they do.

Could someone tell me how to save in that game ? I can't figure it out.

You save in one of the houses and there's 4 slots to save at.

And where's that house ? I must have skipped one, I've talked to all main people in each house and none asked me to choose between 4 slots...

Ok, I'm blind, it's the house with the Ying and Yang on the wall.
