I got Zook Z in the mail today, and boy is it a special treat because...

...It's in English (and features the V.Fame copyright as well!)  Sadly it isn't in the really bad sense that we're all familiar with.  The rest of the game itself, from what I've played, is pretty much the same.  I'll provide a video or screenshot set of all the game's text sometime in the future, hopefully over the weekend.

Holy crap amazing! I never thought I'd see the English version again, I've only ever seen one tiny pic of the cart. where'd you find it?

Incidentally I recently found out Digimon Pocket's English version is called Digimon Adventure Pocket - could be worth keeping an eye out for o:

An Ebay seller called "milkhunter88" was selling it for $25.  By the way, where did you hear about the English Digimon Pocket game?  I'm totally going to keep an eye out for that one.

I saw it ages ago (like, 2004 ages ago) but I couldn't remember the name - I just recently dug up the picture off my old hard drive:

Don't know how I hadn't stumbled across this till now, since it was posted in January, but someone actually found a copy of Zook Hero Z with the manual. It, too, is in...surprisingly good English for VFame, even if it does inconsistently refer to the hero as Luke.

Seriously, did they lose their one translator between 1999 and 2002 or something?

wow, that manual actually reads like it was written by a native English speaker o: They never had access to one of those again, that's for sure.

Nothing too extraordinary, but it only cost me $3,25 and I really like this game, so here we go:

- Crossfire -

I even found some cheats myself while playing (ie; replenish your health and such)

Top-left to bottom-right:

Soul Falchion: Li Cheng copy, with box and manual.  The only thing different about it from the ROM is the title is much simpler looking.
Space-Time Star Beast: Waixing release of the game.  Came complete with manual and box.
House of Flying Daggers: One of the V.Fame-ish RPGs.  It's one of the undumped ones.
Shui Hu Shen Shou: Loose cart of the Waixing release.  I got a complete copy as well which is to the right.
Pokemon Jade: Chinese version of the Telefang hack.  I plan on recording/screencapping some of these games for the sake of having the info out there.
Crazy Monopoly: An V.Fame release (at least it boots with their logo) that's called something else on the cart, but it's the same game otherwise.  Not pictured is another cartridge in a yellow V.Fame case.  Both that one and this game are incompatable with the GBA.  Dammit.
Harry Potter and Bao Zoulong: The infamous Harry Potter book.  Hey, why not?  I like the English title: "Harry Potter and Leopard Walk up to Draton" (Says Dragon on the back, but the credits page has that typo.)

It's identical to the original except the intro is removed, it has a different title screen and there's a third option giving you 999999 moneys and items and stuff. Same goes for Shi Kong Xing Shou for that matter.

Oh, and because I forgot because I was tired as hell when I did the post: Soul Falchion and House of Flying Daggers boot with "Niutoude", Crazy Monopoly boots with "V.Fame", and everything else (including the Waixing games) boots with "Nintendo".  I find it kinda weird they didn't put their own boot logo on the re-releases like they did with their original software.  I mean their logo is hacked into where the V.Fame's logo would be and it's in their cartridge case...

There's nothing special about Madou Monogatari except that I got it at a pretty good price (about $25 USD) and Honey Peach is still the terrible rock-paper-scissors game by Sachen.  Shui Hu Shen Shou, however, is not only the same as the ROM (my other copy's intro lasts a bit longer due to the pauses) but also boots with a plain "Nintendo" logo instead of their usual "V.Fame" or other.  Board's full size and the game still has an old save on it at later in the game.
