But what about the mapper in the cart itself? Is this normally proprietary or are there some common ones?

I forgot to explain this before, but I was hoping that someone could solve a problem for me. The pointers to each game (as defined by the menu data) work by finding the start point and size of the PRG and CHR banks. However, as far as I can tell, both are required and as a result, I can't get any UNROM and UOROM games to work. (Those formats have no CHR-ROM)
Hmm... what about creating 1K of null data and setting that to be the CHR-ROM?

Not sure how using a broken Famiclone would be better than using a working one, but I'm not the best person to ask when it comes to that stuff.
Seeing as all I really need is the cartridge slot, it doesn't really matter - and I may as well recycle something broken rather than YONG YONG a perfectly good famiclone.

Well if you know how to dump flash carts, I'd send you one.
The bigger problem I have at the moment is finding a famicom cartridge slot - I will probably end up hotwiring one in a broken famiclone.

Is it anything like this?

i've always been slightly interested in that one, especially since the first two 8-bit games listed in that review (Space Shuttle & Panda Adventure) seem to be ABABsoft/ex-Hummer Team games .. are they on yours too?
That does look similar, but mine has a different selection of games. Also, it has 95 instead of 90 8-bit games - I think mine is a new revision or something. However, the 20 16-bit games are the same.
