pirate games = inescapable

I've been at this thing for the past few days. the last place you'd ever expect to see anything pirate game related, right? well so i thought until I had a look around this one clothing/accessories stall, where they'd obviously seen people with accessories made of old NES controllers and thought "oh I'll have a piece of that". so they'd put a few different controllers on these big chains, like a PC one and a SNES one. and then the second player controller from a god damn Power Joy. this shit just follows me around sometimes. I considered buying it but I went for a lion hat instead, which was totally the better choice because it's awesome.

at one point I also happened upon a DJ playing "Round & Round" by Heller & Ohlen which was ripped off by Cube Tech for "Apex Gun" (one of the better games on the Overmax handheld I have, so I'd played it recently) but I'm guessing he didn't know that.

on the other hand today i had a ton of time to kill in London so I had a look around a few markets to see if I could see any piratey stuff. found a grand total of one faded Power Player (the really common one) that looked like it'd been sitting there for about 10 years. and a fuckload of Pop Stations but like I could give a shit about those. so when i'm not looking they creep up on me unexpectedly, but when i am looking theyre nowhere to be found. boo!

Well I think if you want to look for piratey stuff, you'd be better off looking in Eastern Europe or something. :P London is (apparently) one of the most well-off parts of the UK, so I can't imagine that it'd be any easier to find that sort of thing over there than anywhere else in this country.

At least you guys can find pirates in the wild over in Europe.  Here in the law-strict U.S. there's practically nothing.  Hell, the most unlicensed thing I've seen in stores here are Tengen carts, though I'm sure I'd have better luck if I could manage a trip to New York or somewhere.

In the UK, your best bet is eBay more than anything, or possibly car boot sales but I haven't been to those in ages.

The Gadget Show, I assume. (That said, I've never actually watched it  )

Edit: Also, is it just me or does the bloke in the photo look like Elvis Presley's estranged brother or something?

Its not from a show, its just one of these short E4-themed animations they show before & after ad breaks. they run a contest every year for people to make their own and the best ones end up on air. so i guess maybe it was made by a pirate game fan ;D
here it is online: http://www.e4.com/video/uBWq5jqnGcozCIsYG27al/play.e4
