Title: Is Somari beatable?
Post by: djshok on August 16, 2011, 04:56:15 PM
I've spent some serious time playing Somari and it doesn't seem like you can beat Labyrinth Zone.  I eventually got to a part where you're underwater and have to jump up on a platform but there's no way to jump that high, and there's nowhere else to go... So I ask, has anyone beaten Somari? Or seen someone else do it?

It's beatable, but by my experience you have to be rather quick in going through that particular part and that's not easy given the awkward physics. Then again, you could just use the level select cheat. :P

It's beatable, I've ran through it without savestates but Act 3 of Labyrinth Zone (I think it was that act) will irritate you the most. There was this one section where you have to be lucky for a bubble to pop out before you drown.

He's referring to a spot jump you can't jump to, my problem was different.

It's beatable, BUT I highly recommend you use savestates, especially in the Labyrinth Zone levels, rather than beat it fairly.

Well I don't know. I've only played a little bit of Somari, the farthest I got was the first boss, then I didn't continue after that. I suppose Somari might be beatable without savestates if you try hard enough, but I wouldn't recommend spending that much time mastering a crappy game like that.

well i can say for sure all the levels except Final Zone, Labyrinth 2 & Green Hill 3 are beatable without savestates because I've done it on the Samuri. (those three are missing).

It's beatable, but really hard.  I've actually managed to avoid getting hit much in Green Hill Zone; it's a matter of taking the levels very slowly to avoid those goddamn buzz bombers (excluding Labyrinth, of course.)  Otherwise I wouldn't say it's too bad.

Meh, I never liked the game myself. To me, it pretty much represents the worst of Hummer Team's work (not counting the stuff after Harry's Legend of course) and while it may be technically impressive, it's about as fun as Mario is Missing. Hell, he's probably better off missing in this POS.

Anyway, the game is certainly beatable but don't expect to find any chaos emeralds or anything.

Cool thanks for the help.  And yeah I used save states, unfortunately where I saved is an area of Labyrinth zone that I don't think you can get out of once you fall into it.  There really seems to be no way to jump up on that one cliff.  Could just be a buggy part of the game that I had the misfortune of going into.

What's the level select cheat for this game? I didn't know there was one.

[/quote]Well from what I remember, there's only one route in all three acts (which kind of defeats the point of a labyrinth, but whatever) and I certainly never got stuck at any point.

If I remember correctly, didn't SpaceNinja finish it on his old YT account?
